The vehicles available are in a shocking and unsafe condition. We had to change vehicle halfway through our trip and only receives a measly sum in compensation.
We have since been charged for an AA call out with a dead battery. The battery had to be replaced two days after this callout. The mechanic, upon seeing the battery, highlighted that this was in fact the wrong battery for the vehicle!
Please avoid!

We put our trust in JUCY when we hired a campervan for a winter trip through New Zealand, expecting a roadworthy vehicle that could handle the harsh seasonal conditions. What we got instead was a complete disaster that nearly cost us our lives.
From day one, the van proved to be dangerously unfit for the road. We lost control multiple times on straight, de-iced roads — and it wasn’t just us. A local road worker pulled us aside to tell us flat out: this vehicle should never have been on the road. That’s not just disappointing — that’s criminal negligence.
The mechanical and structural issues were endless:
The roof leaked, soaking our bed and sleeping gear.
The hose for draining grey water was broken, leaving us stuck with stagnant waste.
The shower was completely non-functional.
Worst of all: there was a GAS LEAK. That’s not just an inconvenience — that’s a serious, potentially deadly hazard.
This wasn’t just a bad experience. It ruined our trip. We had no choice but to cut it short and return home early after what can only be described as a near-death experience. JUCY’s negligence, lack of maintenance, and disregard for customer safety is unacceptable.
Do not trust JUCY with your safety or your holiday. They clearly do not inspect or care for their vehicles properly. This company is an absolute disgrace and should be held accountable before someone actually dies.

Pros - Cheapest big company van rental (but you get what you pay for), staff are friendly, with the extra insurance check out and in very easy and quick (in hindsight too quick didn't really tell us how to make the bed etc), they paid for a replacement gasmate bbq when ours broke, you can stand up in the van
Cons - very poor build quality and space lay-out. The van is massive but they utilise the space so so poorly. No clothes storage. No bin. Gas BBQ is in a box you have to take out every time (unlike other vans we have rented where its just a pull out draw.
Bed is a massive massive faff to make everything. It involves removing a 3 part table and then rearranging loads of cushions before putting a sheet on.
Again other vans just utilise the space way way better!

Hired a car from Jucy in Brisbane. Jucy advertised this as a “Toyota Corolla or similar”, with an accompanying picture of a current/late model Corolla. The reality? We were handed the keys to a 2016 Hyundai Accent with nearly 300,000kms on the clock – and it looked like it (bear in mind these models stopped being sold in Australia after 2019). Large chunks of paint missing, signs of having been in accidents (bumper panels not fitting flush), and generally very tired looking. It also came with a mix of cheap ‘n’ very nasty tires (Winrun on the front and Haida – never even heard of this brand – on the rear) that were so bad it was actually very tricky to pull away from a stop in the rain without spinning the front wheels. To boot, the wipers were well past their best and actually made things worse when turned on – the car was borderline roadworthy and certainly outright dangerous in the wet. Oh, and obviously no mod cons such as sat nav or even a reversing camera. And the cost was only marginally lower than bigger, more reputable companies like Avis and Budget. I’ll never try to save money by renting from Jucy again and I’d urge you to do the same after reading about this experience.
Rented a Jucy Chaser for 3 weeks with 3 people over all.
The Chaser is not suited for 3 people despite being marketed as such. The middle seat is not suitable for anyone over 5’3 and it’s physically impossible for anyone over 6ft.
There is also not enough room for 3 large bags and 3 small bags as is advertised. We constantly moved one bag between the passenger seat and the main living area depending on what area was being used.
The camper was constantly damp with huge issues with condensation. At some points the felt ceiling would be so damp that it would be dripping water down into the rest of the camper. No amount of ventilation or use of the heater (acquired for an added cost) resolved this. Some mornings a large stream of water would pour out of the camper when the door was opened (whether this was an issue with condensation build up or a general water leak that the camper seemed to have is unknown). The bag storage area was constantly wet and anything stored in it being damp.
The hose provided also did not have the correct adapters for 3/4 of the campsites we visited which made filling the water a harder task than need to be. Most campsites used the same taps so it is bizarre that Jucy could not provide the correct adapters.
When dropping off the camper we were asked if we had had any issues. When we mentioned the damp the staff member just moved on to asking why we hadn’t stripped the bedding. A request which was not mentioned anywhere in the return instructions and makes me think the campers are not thoroughly cleaned before being given to the next customers.
Next time we would not use Jucy. Maui campers provides larger campervans for the same price or slightly more.

This company spoiled our once in a lifetime holiday with dirty campers, that were poorly serviced and maintained.
Our first RV was collected in Auckland, but this had so many faults with it that they finally agreed to swap it for another when we got to Christchurch. However this one was no better, just different problems!!
We had a host of complaints including, but not limited to, no hot water for the first three weeks, leaky windows making beds wet, loose fittings, doors and drawers, filthy dirty cupboards and tables, no privacy curtains across double bed, previous renters dirty underwear left in cupboards, dirty coffee cups left in cubby holes by Jucy staff, poor assistance/explanations by Jucy staff, excess cushions taking up valuable space, outside cubby holes that didn't lock leaving our possessions insecure, fridges that failed to keep goods cold and cookers that didn't grill or work on hot plates, even when plugged into 240v supply.
We received little support or understanding from Jucy or Star RV and wasted far too much of our valuable holiday time waiting around in dirty depots so that they could see if they could fix at least some of the problems they had given us. There solution for the faulty water heater was to provide me with a screwdriver so that i could fix it myself!!!
i complained to them on many occasions and did receive a small amount of compensation but they started quoting small print in order to avoid adequate recompense even though they could not argue with the 18 photos i sent as evidence of the dirty and faulty campers.
i would never use this company again and would advise anyone thinking of using them to think again.

If i was able to give this company ZERO stars I would! we hired our van from Christchurch for around 2 weeks to which we had no working USB ports and we had exposed electrical sockets and broken window covers leaving us exposed. We also had a significant roof leak which forced us into hotels on the last 4 nights of our trip.
This review reflects the same as the others, that you are promised compensation in the office and told to email the operations / feedback email addresses where you are absolutely IGNORED!
Avoid this company at all costs they are an absolute disgrace - save your money and go elsewhere to avoid a terrible experience and to avoid driving in vans that are not roadworthy!

Not impressed!
We hired a van from Christchurch New Zealand for two weeks and virtually everything didn't work properly - vehicle tragically underpowered (spot the traffic queue up every hill) no cooker, no saucepans, no USB chargers, no sink draining, broken chairs, a toilet right opposite the fridge (do they really think you can use this?), dirty fridge (not cleaned) etc etc.
During our trip the Customer Services people were "very concerned" and said we should claim compensation at the end of our trip. When trying to do so, we were completely blanked by Jucy. They refuse to respond to emails once you have returned the van.
We had a brilliant holiday despite Jucy, rather than because of them.
Do yourself a favour and book with a more reputable company.

Only one star just for the people at the office. Worst car rental company in Australia! We were rented a vehicle that was just bracking down an had serious safety defects. Handbrake, break not working properly, doors sliding open when driving,… Worst car rental company in Australia. We were rented a vehicle with serious safety defects. Upon return, these defects were confirmed and documented. Juicy generally doesn't respond to emails. All contact is blocked. Worst customer service ever. We reported all of this at the office. One day the key just broke of.. They told us to drive back and change the car. We lost two days because of this and it took 4 more cars before we found one that would do. But still not rental worthy!! Juicy respondent quite quick in the beginning but the moment pure rental was over they never responded back again. They promised compensation but we never saw anything. Worst customer service after dropping of the car, all words but No deeds..

I had a horrible experience with this rental company that ruined a day of my holiday altogether. My original vehicle broke down and I was left waiting all day for the company to supply me with a replacement vehicle. During all of this time, customer service provided little to no information as to the status of my replacement vehicle which added to the stress and frustration.
The replacement vehicle came late at the night, in very poor on the outside condition - it was extremely dirty, had headlights that barely worked (due to the buildup of dirt and grime), and had less than half of a tank of fuel. The heating barely worked, which made the vehicle unusable, as I had intended to use it for part of my travel plans that I had previously planned.
In the end, the company would not even provide reasonable full day compensation despite having lost a full day of travel and use of a service that I had paid for. Their response was devoid of any empathy or accountability, and rather pushed the issue away rather than resolving it appropriately.
I cannot recommend the rental company. Poorly maintained vehicles, disorganized customer service, and no real interest in making things right when they have failed you.

Hired a car from Melbourne to Adelaide for 3 days. Car broke down on the morning of the second day. Only part refunded. No replacement car brought to us. 3hr trip in tow truck back to Melbourne. Took over 10 hours to get back after the initial call in the morning. I did the right thing and reported the issue straight away and for that my trip was ruined.

Achtung Betrug.
Haben einen Monat nach der Rückgabe noch eien Tankfüllung von meiner Kreditkarte abgebucht, mit der Begründung, wir hätten den Camper nicht vollgetankt zurückgegeben.
Auch nach Zusenden des Rückgabeprotokolls mit Verweiss auf Tank voll, war die Kommunikation schleppend und aufgrund des Wechselkurses haben wir den kürzen gezogen und nicht die komplette Summe zurückerstattet bekommen.
Zum Urlaub selber.
Ca. 3 Stunden warten am Tag der Abholung
Camper war ok, für den Preis aber zu sehr runtergekommen.
Extra bezahlter Campingstuhl war kaputt.
Vorhänge waren zum Teil auch kaputt.

Camper van provided leaking during rain. Contacted to customer service and no response. Customer service in this company is a joke. Even you have to pay little extra go with the better one. Never go with Jucy.
Bed bugs, broken car, with 400,000km on this car. this is the worse experience I have ever experienced! Picked up the car from Cairns Australia, and plan on returning the car in Melbourne. Second day sleeping in the roof tent, I have found bed bug but didn’t know it was bed bug at first. Woke up with my entire back and leg covered in bites. I thought it was mosquito for the first couple of days, but it gotten worse. I have picture to show you guys how disgusting my skins are right now due to the bits from sleeping in the tent. It is covered in both of my arms legs and feet, and some on the chin and my back.
Second huge problem, on the third day the car got stucked in mud, and have to call them and paid $440 to get it out, and the girl on the phone call asking me to pay $3000 bound right the right even tho I have paid for the insurance.
Two days later, due to how old the car key is, it just snapped in half, and have to also paid $330 to get a locksmith to come and get a new key, thank god I was not in middle of nowhere.
And juts earlier today, the entire back bumper fall off in the middle of the highway. This car is literally on life support. Called JUCY customer, they tell me to pay for the fix and reimburse me later, like WHAT? I traveled with limited budget, I don’t have extra to cover it up. Anyways, ended up telling them I’m just going to duck tape it, they agreed, I told them I’m going to return the car early, because all of these issues, and they said due to policy they aren’t willing to pay back the dates when I return early. I’m literally going to call my credit card company when I get back and get my money back, because this is supposed to be a fun trip turned into absolutely disgusting nightmare with bed bugs biting me, car breaks down every two days, and when the weather gets cold it is also very hard to start up the car so good luck with that.
Edit from the response: yes the car stuck is not covered in the “insurance” only if you didn’t put a worn out tire on the car maybe the car will still have a grip and allows me to drive??
Second, your car key snapped in half and that’s only if you didn’t give me a worn out key that’s been used millions of times? Your car is old, and it is full of bugs why didn’t you address that? Respond to my email already, I sent it two days ago, I returned the car early but still never got any confirmation email.

Très mauvaise expérience de notre côté, et pire enseigne de location de vans de l’avis de tous les Neo zélandais avec qui nous avons discuté.
Une très mauvaise expérience qui commence dès la prise en charge du véhicule puisque nous attendrons 4h de pouvoir récupérer notre véhicule, avec une équipe que nous dérangeons clairement lorsque nous leur demandons combien de temps nous devons encore attendre.
Nous est alors délivré un van à l’heure de la fermeture de l’agence, vieux de plus de 15 ans, mal nettoyé, empestant l’urine, avec une ceinture de sécurité tellement sale que nous avons du couvrir nos t shirts par la suite puisqu’elle les tachait.
Nous avions payé pour un GPS que nous n’avons pas eu (haute saison je cite, donc il n’y en avait plus), des chaises et une table que dans la précipitation avant la fermeture de l’agence on ne nous a pas mises. Le réservoir du véhicule était à moitié vide, et après 4h d’attente on nous a proposé d’attendre 30min de plus si on voulait partir avec le plein. Aucune explication sur le fonctionnement du van, surréaliste pour les gens qui ne sont pas familiers avec les techniques de vidange etc de ces véhicules.
Au cours du voyage, nous avons eu un souci avec la trappe d’évacuation des eaux sales. Leur service client est désastreux. Nous avons attendu 5 jours avant d’avoir une réponse (réponse hors sujet par ailleurs) de leur part. Heureusement que nous avions trouvé une solution par nous même puisque je ne sais pas comment nous sommes censés utiliser notre van si le réservoir d’eaux usées est plein et non vidangeable.
Leur flotte de véhicule est vieille, usée, l’accueil est affligeant, le prix n’est pas intéressant par rapport aux autres enseignes dont les véhicules sont en bien meilleur état. Nous avons loué auprès de Jucy sur conseil de notre agence de voyage, malheureusement sans vérifier auparavant les avis des usagers qui sont tout aussi catastrophiques pour beaucoup, et nous leur transmettrons notre mécontentement.

J'ai loué un campervan jucy via motorhome republicdu 26 mars 2025 au 7 avril 2025 en Australie.
Une fois arrivée au 1er camping en faisant le lit du bas nous nous sommes apperçu que de l'eau tombait sur le lit du haut par le lanterneau du toit. Une présédente réparation avec des sacs poubelles était caché par les oreillets et les couettes. J'ai essayé de joindre jucy rentals via le numéro de téléphone donné et motorhome republic pendant 1 semaine avant que l'on me répondre et fasse une réparation sommaire.
ces 2 sociétés ne sont pas sérieuse et je vous déconseille de faire une location chez eux surtout un jucy condo.C'est la deuxième fois que j'ai ce problème précédement c'etait en NZ

Never ever hire a car from jucy!! Das war die schlechteste erfahrung,die wir je gemacht haben mit einem campervan. Wir haben unseren Condo in Cairns abgeholt. Die Abholung an sich hat schon ewig gedauert weil die zwei Mitarbeiter absolut keinen Stress hatten und damit beschäftigt waren, andere aufgebrachte Camper zu bedienen. Wäre eig das erste Anzeichen gewesen. Wir bekamen einen uralten Toyota. 354.000 km. Kurze Zusammenfassung: Es stank so eklig in diesem Camper, wie ein nasser Hund. Die Küche war sehr dreckig. Essensreste der Vorgänger am Gaskocher etc. Es gab Schimmel im Camper. Einige Fenster konnte man nicht öffnen (gut bei dem Geruch), der Heckscheibenwischer lies sich nicht abschalten, lief in Dauerschleife. Seitenspiegel lies sich nicht fixieren, hing immer runter. Bei Regen war das Dach undicht. Der Stromanschluss funktionierte nicht. Nach Anruf bei Jucy haben sie uns jemanden geschickt, der das reparieren sollte. Konnte er aber nicht, da laut ihm Teile getauscht werden müssten und Jucy sich wieder bei uns melden würde. Wir haben aber nie wieder eine Antwort/Lösung erhalten und hatten dann auch keine Lust unsere Zeit in der Warteschleife zu vergolden. Dadurch hat unser Kühlschrank auch nicht funktioniert. Wir waren also 3 Wochen ohne funktionierenten Kühlschrank unterwegs. Der Autoschlüssel war schon so kaputt, dass man jedes Mal wenn man den Schlüssel aus der Zündung zog, fast zwei Teile in der Hand hatte.
Beim Drop off wollte ich den Mitarbeiter auf all die Misstände/Mängel hinweisen, damit diese behoben werden können, aber sie hatten kein Interesse daran oder war es ihnen schlichtweg egal. Ich wette der Camper geht eins zu eins genau so an den nächsten Kunden. Eine Frechheit dass man mit so alten Autos noch soviel Geld verlangen kann. Wenn ihr überlegt einen Jucy Camper zu mieten, lasst die Finger davon!!
