These guys are crooks. They aren’t even a moving company. They get your business, give you an estimate, require you pay a 35% deposit, then push you off on the actual movers. The estimator never came to my apartment. I later learned that he lived in South America and that is why he would not show up. He told me he was very accurate with 19 years of experience. The estimate was $10,000. The packer came at 1 pm the day before the move. One guy. He said he could not do the move for the price. He needed another $5,000. I complained to JJ Van Lines so they sent another guy. He said $19,000 but he would knock $2,000 off. JJ refused to refund my money, so I was screwed. I agreed to pay the $17,000, 70% higher than the estimate. The Russian packers came the next day and did a pretty good job. Some items did arrive broken and the “comprehensive insurance” only pays 60 cents per pound. True value insurance would have doubled the cost.
When the van arrived in Virginia from Florida a bunch of “white glove” expert movers arrived. Only one had ANY moving experience. The others had answered an add on Facebook. They brought everything into the house but most of the boxes were not labeled so I did not know which rooms the should put them in. I had to pay the balance in CASH before they would start to unload.
So JJ Van Lines is a BROKER. They don’t tell you that. They send you pictures of moving van but the vans don’t belong to them. They get their 35% fee upfront and then they throw you to the wolves. They underestimate the cost and then it shoots up and they won’t give you your money back. They hire day laborers off of Facebook. Avoid this company at all costs. I learned the hard way.

They are crooks who took our money and later told us they are no longer doing any service in CA and will refund our down payment but never did! We called and called, they either never return our messages or told us to wait when we tried to call their other lines, and after months of calling and waiting for refund, we started to call a couple of times per week, then one day they hang up on us and blocked our phone numbers.
1. We will track them down and take them to court to get our money back!
2. We will tell everyone about our experience everywhere possible!
3. We will file complaint at every venue possible!
Protect your money and Stay away from these crooks and never trust them!!

they are the no. 1 scammers.... they took our marketing services and did not make payment. They keep showing different excuses and it is over 2 months now. I believe they are doing scam with other companies as well.

This was my first cross country move and I was leary. I saw that J&J Van Lines was backed by the BBB and decided to call them. John Giambrone answered the call and all my many questions, I felt so at ease from the start…I highly recommend J&J Van Lines to all and ask for John!

They are Brokers and will lie to get your business then hand you off to another mover whom you do NOT know! Worse experience ever! First J & J, miscalculated the size of truck needed even though the inventory list was gone over many times and pictures sent to our sales person with clear details of EVERYTHING needing to be loaded. We specified that we wanted (and would pay more) for a dedicated truck that was not shared with another mover. J & J advised the size of truck needed based on our inventory list. 2nd- we specified that the truck needed to go directly from the move-out location to the move-in location without putting anything in storage. They were made aware that we would be driving out right away to meet them at the new house in PA. We were told by dispatch that we had plenty of time as the movers were only allowed to drive a certain number of hours each day and we would surely beat them there. However, another company- TOP TIER MOVING showed up without the agreed upon 24 hr notice. The truck THEY selected was way too small and we were left with 1/2 our household unloaded on the truck at 9 pm. The movers insisted that WE had specified 26’ truck so our loss. That is a LIE! that would go directly from the We specified that it was not to be unloaded, put in storage, and reloaded. THEY selected the size of the truck based on the inventory list. We were devasted- not knowing what to do. We attempted reaching J and J and then asked for the name of the owner at Top Tier. The mover foreman would not give us a name! He finally got someone on the phone named “Chris” (who said he was the owner and refused giving us a last name). This person was rude and totally unhelpful. So we were left crying in our driveway as they took off. I refused signing the bill of lading because it was illegible and I was under great duress with the entire situation! They then drove from SW Colorado to NE PA straight through in less than 3 days so that we could not be at the house when they arrived. We rented a uhaul the next day and hit the road with as much of the left over as we could and I stayed to put the rest in storage myself. There was no way for us to beat them to the new house so when they arrived there we were threatened with either getting someone there with cash to meet them or it would go in storage. It was all a nightmare! They had also agreed to take an American Express charge as part of our contracted deal and refused at the last minute because I signed the bill of lading “under duress”- note , the bill of lading was illegible!!
The 3 man Hispanic crew (only 2 spoke English) broke antiques, dressers, lamps and did not assemble items that were promised except one bed which fell completely apart when we got in it. Boxes were clearly marked for location and they were NOT put where they belonged. We are seniors and were very careful about asking the right questions to make sure this went smoothly. It cost us over $15,000 more to get our move made in addition to what we paid J & J- which did not include any damages to our furniture!! J & J refused to take communication once they got the deal and turned everything over to the other company even though we made numerous calls to “Ethan” our sales person. No calls were ever returned! Every detail we worked out with J & J was not met and it was lies from the beginning. BEWARE. THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD AND IS A BROKER although they have a nice sales pitch making you think they are not brokers. YOU DON'T KNOW WHO WILL SHOW UP FOR YOUR MOVE IF YOU HIRE THEM. It is a shame people can get ripped off like this- and a worse shame that companies get away with this type of treatment to clients.

J & J Vanlines Long Distance Moving Services handled our large and heavy furniture with ease, and everything arrived at our new home without a scratch.

Beware, they do not tell you everything upfront.
I interviewed many moving companies before selecting J&J Vanlines. Ultimately, I chose this company because of their sales person who reassured me repeatedly that things would go smoothly.
Well, they did not. I prepared an extremely detailed packing list with photos of all the furniture.
When the movers arrived, they increased my cubic feet by almost 2x. Huge increase. Resulting in $3,000 more fees.
They also brought a semi, and told me that it was an additional $1,200 to change to a smaller truck.
I also paid $1,200 for specific time delivery, only to get multiple phone calls from the actual movers, speaking broken English, giving me no assurance they would arrive on time.
I won't use this company again and the experience left me even more wary of the moving business going forward.
The owners were non apologetic. They told me their sales guy, Nick, who I spoke to, promised me many things that were not included and resulted in additional charges.
Overall a very bad experience.

John was so helpful the entire time. We changed dates a few times due to certain circumstances beyond our control. He was always accomodating. J J van was the best price by far. Other moving companies called us but could not come close to the price quoted. It is important that you sign up within a few days of getting the quote because prices do go up.
