Sam & her team bring a whole new vibe to JD in Southend. Looks much cleaner, organised & well managed compared to previous years.
Good range of equipment with nice sized studios & plenty of classes to choose from. Love it here & the people are great too. 100% the best gym in Southend 💪

JD Gyms in Southend has been my gym for the past four years. It is a well-equipped, clean, and professionally run facility, always staffed by a team of knowledgeable personal trainers.
For the last three years, I have trained with Robert Camp, who is fully qualified and insured. Training on my own did not deliver the results I was hoping for, but working with Robert has made a significant difference. He carefully demonstrates correct techniques and posture, ensuring every exercise is performed safely and effectively.
As a result, I have seen a marked improvement in my physical strength and stamina. I highly recommend both JD Gyms Southend and Robert Camp to anyone serious about improving their fitness.

Great local spacious gym with a large variety of equipment. Staff are friendly.
Also PT George really knows his stuff with body building and PT Rob with Boxing/ Kickboxing. In all great gym.

Gym is clean and spacious lots of different equipment and classes.
The people are amazing and the community really helps you push yourself to reach your goals.

Great gym, great people and lots of space. It's literally changed my whole fitness journey joining this gym.
Met a PT called Clare who specialises in calisthenics. I didn't even know what that was when I joined, now I'm completely hooked and Clare has so much knowledge and enthusiasm, I love learning from her and also the community she brings to the gym. Literally people from all different backgrounds of all ages make it a really friendly place to be and we learn so much from each other and always support each other, not something I ever thought you'd find in a large gym.
Izaih also brings great vibes and fun to the gym with his knowledge and expertise in Hyrox in particular, he also brings a great community of people which inspires everyone to work hard.
All staff are polite and friendly and Terry and Sam always greet you with a smile even at stupid o clock. The staff work hard keeping the gym clean and tidy and the showers and toilets are always clean.
My only request right now is could we please have a replacement ball for the 4kg one that's gone and the 3kg one which I'm sure will be replaced very soon as equipment is always repaired promptly unlike other gyms.

I have been working out in all gym's but the JD is the best, spacious well equiped, clean nice atmosphere with the led lightning and staff always keep to help. Recently I have joined Clare Calisthenic clasess and my experience is even better as I meet fantastic people during each session who share the same passsion.
Clare is giving me confidence to challenge myself in calisthenic.

Best gym in the local area - loads of workout areas, decent equipment and some lovely, helpful staff who genuinely seem like they want to be there. I highly recommend Clare, the in-house Calisthenics PT who has been a game-changer in my strength training and built a positive community of like-minded people to share the journey with.

Great gym, always really clean. Staff are all really friendly. Some great classes that I've been to so far with Sam and Lorraine. Clare is an amazing pt leading the cali community where I have learnt so much already and can't wait to learn more in the new year.

Really great open space with lots of equipment. Staff are really friendly and helpful. George came over and gave great advice and demonstrations on way to really get the most from my workout

As a complete novice I was apprehensive about going to a gym but trainer Joseph was very welcoming and explained everything at my pace. He was very patient and encouraging, so an enjoyable visit

The PT George is such a good PT. He’s very motivational and supportive, the gym is clean, sanitary and has everything you could need. I really enjoy my time at this gym it’s fantastic!

JD is one of the only places in the world (with other humans in) where I feel comfortable. I can do whatever workout I want and not feel judged. This confidence has ALL come from Clare who introduced me to calisthenics. She’s the best (the actual best as she’s a world champion)!!

Great clean gym and facilities.
Clares calisthenics classes have helped me improve strength, confidence and posture ..she is a lovely and great personal trainer who was highly recommend to me. With a bunch of friendly guys n girls who make it a friendly atmosphere.

I have been training with George for 7 weeks, he is absolutely brilliant with amazing knowledge and the gains I have made are phenomenal, the inch’s I have lost and the increase in strength in such a short time is so impressive thanks to his methods and support! Thank you George

JD Gym is unbeatable. From the great equipment which is constantly monitored and looked after, to the countless free classes, to the ladies only section, to the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. I’ve recently started going to the Calisthentics class run by Clare, her along with all of the members are so supportive and welcoming. I’m so glad this is my local gym.

Best gym I've been to

My 5 star review goes to Clare - the only female Calisthenics coach on Essex and a world champ. After losing some gym motivation, I started PT sessions with Clare. 3 years on I still regularly attend the gym along with so many new Calisthenics friends. Not only has she built a supportive community at JD, she has pushed me to compete in some Cali comps. Couldn’t recommend her enough. The gym itself is fully equipped for Cali workouts with rings and lots of bars. It also has lots of weights, squat racks. The only equipment missing is a Bosu Ball. Always clean and tidy. The lady cleaner is very passionate!

I just wanted to leave a review about the PT I have used at this gym. Rob Camp is a great PT that is great to work with. He is friendly and really knows his stuff and I can’t thank him enough for my results.
