Poorly Maintained Equipment

Not sure what has happened, but in the past two months, the standards have completely dropped. You just need to walk over to the cable machine area to understand the problems—you won’t find any clips for accessories, and any accessories you do find are completely wrecked. Various machines need maintenance, and even the cardio machines are a joke. The handlebars on my spin bike collapsed while I was using it last week. Nobody seems to be checking the equipment.

This gym used to replace equipment, but now they don’t. Whoever is running the gym doesn’t seem to care. It’s not worth £30 a month.

Big Gym. Two levels of equipment and lots of running machines. The variety of Gym equipment is brilliant. Heaps of free weights. They could do with more weight plates for the squats etc, there’s a shortage of the plates to load up when it’s relatively busy. Just need 5-10 more of each size.

All the staff are friendly and very helpful. Parking is great, heaps of parking. The only real downside they used to have rolls of blue tissue and cleaning stations (spray / cloth) dotted around. This has now been removed, so you can’t wipe down others sweat. And not many in there carry/use a towel. They don’t even take one in. Nasty when you go to use equipment and there’s someone else’s sweat left on it. Where has the tissue and spray gone?

£30 a month from at least a few thousand members should be enough for tissue paper. They did provide it for the first year…

The staff are great always going round cleaning the equipment, JD needs to put a bit more focus on if you want to train carry a towel.

That aside it’s a great gym. Tons of equipment, loads of weights.

In general a decent gym, sadly let down by some members not putting equipment/plates away after use. This really needs addressing with some kind of policy put in place if members repeatedly break the gym rules. Worst gym I've ever been to for this issue.

Cleanliness? Training every morning at the same time and the changing rooms are disgusting. It’s getting progressively worse to the point of being unhygienic.

Great facility, only no way to clean down equipment which is a shame when it’s all covered in sweat and there isn’t any method of disinfectant available to clean anything. Unhygienic and unprofessional, response to this complaint were poor at best.

Joined last night. Was simple and easy. Went to the gym 7am this morning and QR code didn’t work. Been calling no on picks up and keeps saying it’s out of office hours. It’s 10am how is it no one is working yet

Edit: got hold of someone at 11am. Membership was fine and not suspended. Went back and tried pass. It worked. Think it needed to be set up on system and just got to the gym to early. Should say it takes a few hours to activate

I joined Farnborough gym in January this year and quite enjoy everything it has to offer: good parking, sauna option, no signup for classes (just turn up) and It is open all day even on bank holidays.
One issue though - there seems to be a constant issue with the air conditioning. Half a time it doesn't work as it should making it unpleasant to workout in unusally warm temperature. It then results in excessive sweating and increased unpleasant odour inside the facilities. (Few days ago it was as hot as the outside temperature - referring to current hot summer weather). Please fix that and I will change rating to 5 stars.

It’s always super busy, which can make it hard to warm up as the space is so small. The classes are great and not overwhelming at all. I mostly go for the classes and go to the main gym quite late at night so I don’t have to feel self conscious or in the way

This gym Farnborough can do with more cleaning in change rooms. Toilets and showers very smelly and looks like floors do not get washed or cleaned for days.

Gym when it opened was great but looks like they are either short staffed or just don't bother.

The gym classes are constantly cancelled or swapped for different ones. The teachers often don’t turn up and they make no effort to find replacements. There is no notifications when they cancel: it would be understandable if it was a one off but it’s all the time! Especially with body pump!!

The gym is great but every single morning the toilets are disgusting as well as the changing rooms. Funny though as they are shut during the night so clearly no one cleaning the day before.

My second time training here today as I’m not local to Farnborough but the atmosphere in the gym has improved massively since I last visited a few months ago. Very friendly, positive and the gym is very well looked after.

The kit is very well maintained and clean too. Not to mention the huge variety of kit and duplicate kit too.

Love the option of a sauna in the women’s changing rooms and these are also very well maintained and kept too.

A great training session made even greater by the cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities as well as a top notch atmosphere!

Very excited for the Reading branch to open. I hope the atmosphere is just as good!

Excellent gym experience for lifters. Plenty of equipment, clean, well maintained and spacious. I went to the gym in Farnborough for a few months and loved it.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was due to delays in customer support. I found it difficult to get in contact with staff. I ended up creating a cancelation request and also canceling my debit order when I didn't hear back from the gym for a while regarding the cancelation. Overall, highly recommend!

Asked to cancel a month ago which I had to do by submitting a form online because there is no other way to contact them, they did not reply so I sent another email and still no response. I tried to call the JD gym in Farnborough yesterday and the phone rings for about 5 minutes and then cuts out so apparently there is no way to contact them. I then resorted to my last option which was cancelling my direct debit through my bank but I checked my statement this morning and they have still taken the payment so it looks like if you get a membership at a JD gym then you're stuck with them forever. Really unhappy.

I am a energie fitness member in Sandhurst which is a great gym no doubt. But for today I went to try out Jd gym Farnborough for a day pass potentially which didn’t go to plan which was really upsetting. The fact that the staff didn’t even have any intentions of free trial tour or any sort of options for a new members to see how the gym is like. It was a straight “no we don’t do day pass you can’t get in “ type of vibe I got from the door. I suggest you don’t go to this gym

Molly showed me and a few friends round the gym on Sunday and completely sold it to us! The very next day we all signed up!

Met with Molly (Liverpool) who kindly took me round the gym on Sunday. I explained that I was very nervous about joining and she made me feel completely at ease, told me within 4 weeks I would absolutely love it and it's a really nice gym & members. If it wasn't for Molly, I don't think I would have signed up.

Beginner to gym. I switched from PureGym to come here and am really regretting it. The gym itself is modern and looks nice. There are next to no staff around to ask for advice or support. At PureGym all of the machines had instructions on how to set up equipment and use correctly, here there is nothing. PureGym also had an app with videos of how to do exercises and use machinery but the JD gym app has not got this. I walk around lost not knowing what to do and no one to ask. It is giving me anxiety at the gym. The equipment is positioned in a way that makes you feel really exposed and I just find it a really awful experience. Will definitely be returning to the more basic, but supportive, beginner friendly PureGym, which makes me sad as I was excited to try JDGym :(

Brand new and fantastic , it the best value commercial gym within the area , spotless clean , friendly staff especially Steph ,great location ,great atmosphere and friendly staff ,I have been going to the gym for over 30 years and JD have really captured what a regular gym goes needs , 24 hour opening which allows blue light/ shift workers like myself access whenever I want , no contract and at less than £1 a day membership , what more could u want from a gym
