Best Advisors Ever!
I used International College Counselors starting in 9th grade to help me with the college admissions process. Each step along the way, my advisor helped guide me to be successful and get into my top-choice school, the University of Pennsylvania! One of the best things was having someone I could always contact if my mom or I had any questions. ICC helped me map out my courses in school as well as supplement them with accelerated course offerings outside of school. They helped me identify extracurricular activities that tied into my interests in science and advocacy. My summers included meaningful activities, like research and internships, along with some time dedicated to travel and unwinding. When it was time to apply to colleges, my advisor helped me create a well-balanced college list. She knew so much about each of the schools and what type of student thrives at each of them. She also encouraged me to visit the colleges, and I narrowed down my list to 15 schools that I liked and where I could see myself. I went through multiple drafts of my essays and found the right tone and topic for each one. Some of my essays were way off the first time I’d written them! She made sure I kept to the topic and stayed authentic. I liked that my application wasn’t only reviewed by my advisor but also by another expert in the company who didn’t know me. The second reviewer recommended a different paragraph for my main essay that I thought was final. His suggestion made sense, and I made the edits. For me, it was also very helpful to have someone make sure I was meeting deadlines and doing what I needed to do. I am very grateful to ICC for helping me get into my dream school!!
