From curiosity to structure: my journey with IxDF
Since 2019 I've been an active student at Interaction Design Foundation, and it's been one of the decisions that has most transformed my career. I came in out of curiosity. I came from digital communications, with no formal background in UX, and I stayed because of the clarity, depth, and practical value of every course.
The first course that really clicked for me was Design Thinking: The Beginner's Guide. Since then I've completed more than 10 courses (several times landing in the Top 10%) and more than 30 masterclasses in user research, applied AI, design systems, and accessible design. I've gone from designing on intuition to designing with intention, actually understanding the fundamentals behind what I do.
I deeply value the content, and everything IxDF gives me to sustain myself as a professional: structure to back up my decisions, vocabulary to speak with authority in front of developers, clients, stakeholders, and other designers, and the confidence of knowing there's real methodology behind what I do. As a self-taught woman in tech, having access to all this knowledge has been invaluable.
Today, on top of continuing to learn, and after spending a few months organizing events in my city around digital trends and interaction design as Local Leader for Medellín, I'm serving as Country Manager for Colombia, an experience that's been incredibly enriching, since it's let me build community and connect with other people passionate about design, creating spaces where we can talk about design in a close, democratized way. I see up close how this community truly supports those of us building a career in design. I recommend it without reservations.

Not up to standard
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of useful info, it's very academic rather than someone just giving their opinion.
But it's 2026, and I don't feel the whole experience is of a high standard. The learning format could be a lot more engaging. It's very static. Ironically, the website is poorly designed and hard to navigate. It also has a dated aesthetic, but fine. The dark UI patterns to prevent people cancelling their profile are ridiculous and again, very ironic.
And worst of all, when cancelling, cancelling access immediately rather than at end of the year that I've already paid for is straight up unfair.

Looking into your account, we can see that your membership ended in May 2025. As a result, we're unable to verify some of the concerns you've raised about the current platform and learning experience.
We'd also like to clarify one point regarding cancellation. When a membership is canceled, automatic renewal is stopped, and access to courses ends, as is standard with subscription-based online learning platforms. However, the links to course certificates and any purchased Master Classes remain active, so members continue to have access to those even after their membership becomes inactive.
We genuinely welcome constructive feedback and are always looking for ways to improve. If you'd be willing to reply to our previous message or contact us directly with more details, we'd be happy to investigate the issues you experienced.

Suggested to literally everyone
If you're from just interested into UX to determined to become a UX professional, I definitely suggest you IxDF to get off on the right foot. They set you the right tone, pace, and fundamental concepts to get to know what UX is - or should be - really about.
I love and take pride in being and staying their member, regardless of what I'll be doing throughout my career. And BTW, they have career paths setup for most cases - from existing professional to those (like me) who transition from another discipline, e.g. software development.
Last but not least, they offer what I believe is the best value for money compared to other courses and platforms, despite they're the most reliable and famous UX entity just right after NN/g - and yet they feature Don Norman too!

UX training tailored to any professional level
I’ve been working in UX for several years now and I’m always on the lookout for ways to keep learning. Out of all the platforms I’ve tested, the Interaction Design Foundation has honestly brought me the most value. It steers completely clear of those empty "become an expert in a month" promises that are all over the internet.
What I love most is the quality of the courses. The content is well-structured, and they have excellent tutors. More than once, I’ve wrapped up a course with hands-on ideas that I could immediately apply to real-world projects.
One of the platform's biggest strengths is that it’s not built for just one type of professional. There’s valuable content whether you’re just starting out or already have years in the industry. It’s even great for people coming from different backgrounds, if you’re looking to make a career pivot, you can definitely find your path here. Plus, their learning paths let you dive deep into different areas of design and user experience.
Furthermore, the variety of topics is a huge plus. Not everything revolves around interfaces; they offer courses on research, accessibility, psychology, service design, and more. All of this really helps you develop a more well-rounded view of UX.
Of course, no platform can ever replace real-world experience, but if anyone were to ask me where to learn UX seriously and at their own pace, IxDF would hands down be one of my top recommendations. If you’re looking to level up in this discipline, it’s absolutely worth signing up and exploring their catalog.

Not recommend this platform to anyone
I was charged for an annual membership I never authorized even though I cancelled my free trial.
They are using dark patterns within the platform and in their billing options. I have completely lost my trust in the platform.

When we reviewed your account, we could not find a completed cancellation request in our system. You also confirmed in our email exchange that you did not have the cancellation confirmation email, which is sent when a cancellation has been completed.
Our free trial renewal information is shown during sign-up, in our emails, and on the billing page, and we also send a reminder before the trial ends. Even so, I understand how upsetting this can feel, and we followed up with you directly to resolve the payment concern.

Excellent UX learning resource
I’ve been using Interaction Design Foundation since 2017, and it has been a valuable platform throughout my career as a UX designer.
One of the biggest strengths is that the courses are self-paced, which makes it easy to combine learning with full-time work and everyday life. As someone who has at times worked as a sole designer, it also felt genuinely nice to be part of a larger design community.
The course structure is well thought out, combining video lectures, reading material, and practical design tasks in a way that keeps the learning engaging and applicable. I also appreciate the large variety of courses and the amount of additional guides and topic-specific reading material available on the platform.
Another thing worth mentioning is the support. Whenever I’ve reached out with questions over the years, I’ve always received quick, kind, and genuinely helpful responses.
To make this a full 5-star experience for me personally, I would love to see the option to pause a subscription. A pause feature would feel more user-friendly and flexible for real-life situations, rather than feeling forced to renew in order to keep access to completed courses and progress.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend Interaction Design Foundation to both designers and people curious about interaction design who want to grow professionally and build their knowledge in UX and design.

Practice what you preach make the learning experience interesting
The topics are great and interesting but for a UX platform they don't practice what they preach. It doesn't cost much to modernise the content make it more appealing, the amount of reading and repetition is exhausting, i love the knowledge testing and the information it's the layout of the courses what I dislike, jumping from text to video to quotes back to endless repetitive text makes it so hard to finish a course

IxDF is a Game Changer!
A Game-Changer for Experienced Professionals
I've been in web development for over 20 years, so when I started taking courses through the Interaction Design Foundation, I wasn't sure how much new ground they'd cover. I was wrong to doubt it.
I've now completed 6 courses and earned certifications in all of them, and the impact has been real. IXDF Dark Pattern Billing
I was charged $264 for an annual membership I never authorized. When my company's IxDF account was canceled, I received a notice that my company profile had been converted to my personal account with 16 days to cancel or else be charged with my personal card on file for an annual membership.
When I contacted support for a refund, a refund was denied and I was offered extra months and free classes instead, which doesn't address the core issue. I did not consent to charge my card for a membership I did not sign up for.
This is a dark pattern in their billing system and they have lost my trust in their platform.

Unauthorized renewal, no refund, no response
I was automatically charged for a renewal I had not intentionally authorized. I cancelled immediately and never used the service after the renewal date. My refund request went completely unanswered.
To make things worse, the cancellation flow is a textbook dark pattern — as already noted in several previous negative reviews — multiple confirmation checkboxes and immediate access cut-off upon cancellation, clearly designed to discourage users from leaving.
The irony of a platform dedicated to UX education deploying these tactics is hard to overlook. I would not recommend.

Extremely toxic dark pattern usage, intimidation tactics and unethical user lock-in
If you wish to unsubscribe, they will cancel your account immediately, including any future membership you have already prepaid.
They will then delete access to every material you have permanently bought and remove all your certificates.
In order to be allowed to cancel the subscription, you have to click 7 or so checkboxes and warnings that you understand they will delete everything you have bought from them.
These are UX experts. They know every dark pattern they are applying, and are using them in the most toxic ways by deliberate choice.
