This trip is really one for the books! We started planning for a Safari Tour a year ago so that we will have an ample time to look for a good itinerary and tour provider that will our needs. We have inquired to several local travel agencies from our country, the Philippines and as well as thru online to Kenyan agencies. Most Kenyan agencies either disregarded our inquiries, too presistent that we book instantly or presented unreasonably priced agencies. We came across IMARA AFRICA SAFARIES thru Instagram and Wendy was very accommodating to our request. She patiently presented to us different options for our safari tours. And most welcomingly answered our never ending queries. She also gave us tips as to securing our travel documents down to our safari outfits. From then on, we knew IMARA is the right choice for us.

So here we go! We booked and we eagerly anticipated for our much awaited safari experience! But I guess as the time came and no matter how prepared you were, there were some bumps along the way such as flight delays and missing our connecting flights. Yet, it never deterred our excitement. Good thing, Wendy was always in contact since day 1. And she was flexible as always readjusting our itinerary. We were met and greeted by the whole staff and even gave us souvenirs already. We met Wendy in person and of course Lewis who eagerly explained our itinerary. We also gotten to know Simon, our guide/driver in Kenya. He was very enthusiastic in touring us to different national parks in Kenya and made us witness the amazing wildlife it has to offer. We even driven into the deep areas of Maasai Mara just to find a whole pride of 20 lions!

Next stop was Tanzania and there we met Dallas, our guide and driver and Mr Plan B guy. Without him, we could have never witnessed the Great Migration and completed the Big 5 of Africa.

All in all, our safari experience was more than what we expected and way too amazing!

It was way too difficult to part ways with our two big guides who made this experience memorable!

My wife and I were fortunate enough to spend a 7 day Lakes & Plains safari with Imara Africa this summer for our honeymoon.

From the first message that we sent out asking for quotes and a proposed itinerary all the way to when we landed in Nairobi, Faith was there to make sure we had all of our questions answered and that our experience was exactly what we wanted. She was incredibly accommodating to us, answering at all hours of the day and making sure that we were informed and comfortable with each step of our itinerary and journey. Most of all, we never felt pressured to book or make deposits, which was incredibly important since other companies were actively putting sales pressure on us everyday. Also, the accommodations were all fantastic, clean, and exceptionally hospitable. The food was also delicious.

Edward, or the “safari doctor” as we’ve come to know him, is an incredible guide. He is personable, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. He was happy to share everything he knew about each animal that we saw, from a small bird to a leopard that we were fortunate enough to see climbing up a tree with its kill in Maasai Mara. We couldn’t have been more fortunate as we were to be paired with Edward for the past week, and I’m positive that all of Imara’s guides are just as exceptional as he is. We never felt rushed while spending time at each park, and Edward and Faith both worked together to accomplish a small itinerary change, since we wanted to spend a little extra time at the Mara in substitution for another activity. He seemed to be friends with everyone that we encountered across the trip, and it’s clear why that is— he’s a genuinely kind and knowledgeable person, and is great at what he does.

My husband and I just went on the 7 day Lakes and Plains safari for our honeymoon with Imara Safari, and we could not be happier with our experience. Before our safari, Faith was responsive and helpful with any and all questions we had. During our safari, we were lucky enough to have Edward as our driver. He was very knowledgeable about all things related to the parks(lots of fun facts about animals, the local landscape, and culture), was flexible(he even helped us arrange an extra game drive during the middle of our trip),and made us feel welcome in Kenya. We are so thankful that we chose Imara!

From the very beginning, the booking and planning experience with Cate was absolutely exceptional. Over the course of eight months, she was incredibly helpful, attentive, and responsive to every question I had. She provided detailed information about packing, travel authorizations, vaccinations, and everything else I needed to feel fully prepared for my trip.

During the planning process, I mentioned that this safari would take place around my birthday and casually asked if one of the lodges might be able to provide a dessert. What happened exceeded anything I could have imagined. Cate went completely above and beyond to make my birthday unforgettable. Every lodge I stayed at surprised me with something special, including birthday cakes, singing, dancing, roses, and even "Happy Birthday" beautifully spelled out on my bed. When I first arrived, Imara Africa Safaris surprised me with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine. It was such a thoughtful and touching gesture. This was not only a birthday I will never forget, but a safari experience I will cherish forever.

I am truly blown away by the thought, care, and attention that went into planning every detail of this trip. Cate designed an incredible itinerary that included multiple destinations and a wide variety of activities, making every day exciting and unique. From game drives and boat rides to bicycling, hiking, and even a breathtaking hot air balloon ride, every experience added something special to the adventure.

The safari itself was made even more amazing thanks to my guide and driver, Paul. As a solo traveler, safety was very important to me, and Paul made sure I felt comfortable and secure throughout the entire journey. He is an outstanding driver, an incredibly knowledgeable guide, and one of the kindest people I have ever met.

Paul knew exactly where to go to maximize wildlife sightings and worked tirelessly to help me find all the animals I dreamed of seeing. Thanks to him, I saw the Big Five, along with many other incredible animals. One of the most exciting moments was watching a cheetah and a giraffe cross directly in front of our Land Cruiser.

Another unforgettable experience was when Paul found a lioness napping and positioned us perfectly for an up-close view. It felt surreal, as though she was there just for me, with no other vehicles around despite it being a busy season.
Paul's expertise, patience, and passion for wildlife made every game drive extraordinary. He is truly a world-class safari guide, and I can confidently say he is the best safari driver and guide I could have hoped for.

We had an amazing experience on the Maasai Mara + Lake Nakuru + Naivasha Mid-Range Safari with Imara Africa Safaris. Booking and communication were smooth, professional, and hassle-free from beginning to end. The itinerary was exceptionally well organized, giving us plenty of time to enjoy each destination without feeling rushed.

Our guide, Simone, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and always made sure we had the best wildlife-viewing opportunities. His experience and sharp eye helped us spot an incredible variety of animals and birds.

During our safari, we saw lions, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, zebras, African buffalo, rhinoceroses, hippos, hyenas, thousands of wildebeest crossing during the spectacular Great Migration, gazelles, impalas, warthogs, baboons, monkeys, crocodiles, ostriches, majestic eagles, vultures, and many other colorful bird species. Witnessing the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara was truly breathtaking and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We also enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha, which added a wonderful variety to the safari.

The accommodations selected by Imara Africa Safaris were excellent. Every hotel and lodge was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, with great food and friendly staff, making it easy to relax after exciting days of game drives.

This safari exceeded all of our expectations. From the excellent planning and comfortable accommodations to the incredible wildlife encounters and exceptional guiding, everything was first class. I highly recommend Imara Africa Safaris and the Maasai Mara + Lake Nakuru + Naivasha Mid-Range Safari to anyone looking for an unforgettable Kenyan safari adventure.

This safari has been nothing short of epic. When looking for a safari, Cate was very thorough - understood what we were looking for, asked good questions, understood our budget, and made us comfortable throughout the entire process.

Once in Kenya, all of the details were well thought through - every ride, every meal, and we were able to truly maximize the limited time and budget that we had. We were able to experience so much, and our guide Simon answered every question we had, guided us safely through the different terrain and Kenyan traffic, and made sure everything was done to ensure that we experienced as many different animals as possible from several wonderful vantage points. We felt cared for though the whole process and appreciate Imara Africa for everything they did to make this safari a memorable, once in a lifetime experience!

We started planning our safari about a year in advance. Wendy and Lewis sent lots of information and were incredibly helpful. They were very patient and accommodating as we worked out whether a family member could travel with us due to health restrictions.
At times we had to push for information, but this may reflect the difference between British and Kenyan attitudes to travel!
On arrival we were met by Wendy, Lewis and their full team bearing gifts,and then introduced to our guide Edward. Edward was fantastic throughout he trip, adapting the trip to suit our interests - for example on our visit to Lake Elementitia, knowing members of our group were particularly interested in birds he took us to a section of the lake where the birds were particularly active. He was always in the know about what was happening with animals in the park and helped us to spot so much!
The accommodation was all lovely, comfortable and welcoming. A few days at the beach was just what we needed to relax after our adventure!
The internal flight back to Nairobi caused a little confusion - we were quite panicked about arriving at the airport barely 45 minutes before our flight - but we were not the last to check in! Check details for your luggage if you have flights.
We travelled about 1200 miles over the course of the safari, and Edward never looked at a sat nav once! Finding us washrooms and refreshments where needed as well as the well stocked water supply. The travel is tiring but well worth it for the sights and experiences. Thanks to Edwards network of guides we saw so much!

Tips - although we paid for the safari and tips in dollars, shillings were generally more useful to us.
Food was lovely and plentiful, even as a vegetarian. Many places checked whether I was happy with what was on offer.
Get used to the idea of bush toilets! When using public restrooms toilet roll is sometimes outside the cubicles. We put a roll in our travel bag and we're grateful for it.
Expect to pay for water with meals at some places. It's not expensive but not everywhere included this.

We have just returned from an incredible safari organised by Imara African Safaris, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. From the very beginning, Lewis and Wendy were absolutely fantastic. Our first inquiry was handled with care and professionalism. The knowledge and guidance provided in booking our itinerary was invaluable. The team was extremely responsive and accommodating, happily amending even the smallest of details to ensure everything was perfect for us.
One of the things that immediately stood out upon arrival was the personal service. It was such a lovely touch that the owner and members of the team took the time to come and meet us at the start of our trip at the airport at 5am. It made us feel genuinely valued as guests and showed how much they care about providing an exceptional experience from day one.
A huge thank you goes to our guide, Simon who made this journey truly unforgettable. His enthusiasm and deep understanding of the wildlife and local culture added so much value to every game drive. His knowledge of the local area was incredible, and no matter what question we asked, he always knew the answer. Beyond that, he was genuinely one of the friendliest, kindest, and most professional people we have met. We covered many kilometers and visited several parks, yet we always felt completely safe. He waited at every point for us to observe the animals in our own time, take photos and never rushed the experience for us. We enjoyed his calm and relaxed nature and it added to our experience. Simon’s passion for what he does shone through every day and made our safari experience unforgettable.
Each of the accommodations selected by Imara offered an amazing experience. We were greeted by friendly faces who often greeted us with a song, hot towel and cool drink. The accommodations were always spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The food was always delicious and varied and offered some traditional Kenyan dishes. The locations meant that you were in the parks and able to see and hear the animals from either the main building or your room. We arrived at one lodge and had an elephant mother and baby feeding right outside. Another accommodation had a watering hole which had so many animals visited throughout the day and you could sit on the veranda and watch the animals pass. Whilst the game drives are intensive the accommodations gave you a relaxing safe place to rest after the game drive whilst still having amazing animal experiences.
We cannot recommend Imara Africa Safari highly enough. This was a truly special trip, and we are so grateful for everything they did to make it perfect.

Excellent service start to finish. Our first shout out to Lincoln who was our POC for everything from booking the vacation, filling out stuff, answering all our questions and for being always responsive and helpful.

Second shout out to the service we received while in the car and at the hotels. Strong free wifi always in the car no matter how remote the location we were in, we always had the fastest and reliable internet. A mini fridge with unlimited water and cold drinks for us at all times. While at the hotels we were always received with a warm welcome, an excellent service, amazing food options, helpful staff, clean and cozy rooms.

Lastly, and biggest shout out to our amazing driver Patrick who drove us everywhere from start to finish. From picking us up from the hotels, taking us on game drives, patiently waiting for us to take pictures of all the beautiful animals no matter how many times we ask him to stop for a quick snap, for his impeccable driving skills in one of the most challenging terrains I have even experienced, for his absolutely incredible memory to remember every single location for our hotels, all the crazy roads without any sings, while still managing to find the best spots to see wildlife every single time.

Patrick is one of the rare gems who knew was extremely patient with us, kind, caring and helpful. His knowledge of identifying every unique animal and bird was always on point.

I cannot recommend enough how much we enjoyed as a family of 4, if we ever decide to do this all over again, we will not hesitate to book again with Imara African Safari.

Anthony is a complete gentleman and a real credit to Imara Africa Safari. We loved spending time with him, both during our game drives and in the evenings getting to know him. He made sure we saw absolutely every animal possible, and many of the unforgettable moments we experienced simply wouldn’t have happened without him. One particularly special touch was when he went off track to show us tea plantations after we mentioned how much we enjoyed Kenyan tea, something as Irish people we were very grateful for! He waited at every point for us to observe the animals in our own time, take photos and never rushed the experience for us. We enjoyed his calm and relaxed nature and it added to our experience.

I had an opportunity to visit Africa for the first time on a trip organized by Imara Africa. The 6-day trip was centered in Kenya and included wildlife reserves in Nairobi, Amboseli, Lake Naivasha and Maasai Mara. Each location had unique experiences and the details were expertly curated through Imara Africa.

We met the team, including our guide Simon, as soon as we exited customs in Nairobi, Kenya. They met us with lovely welcome gifts and explained our itinerary, answering all questions. What I did not understand initially was that Simon was to remain with us every step of the way. He was our driver, translator, facilitator, bodyguard, wildlife expert, concierge and companion. We could not have asked for a better guide helping us to maximize our experience.

You will not travel wild Africa like we did without complications, diversions and the unexpected. Simon met each challenge with patience and good humor. It was a genuine pleasure to talk with him and see him at work. He knew where to go, how to get there and seemed to know everyone in Kenya!

The lodgings were top notch, with world class service and excellent food. Lodgings and almost all food were included in the package. The team even upgraded us at one point to help celebrate an anniversary in our group.

En route to Maasai Mara we traveled deep off-road and spent several hours with the nomadic Maasai people, walking their territory with them and visiting their village. We were partnered with a pair of Maasai men who demonstrated their way of life and answered all our questions. This was not a tourist simulation, but a very moving window into the lives of real people living as they have for centuries. The hours we spent with the Maasai were humbling and remarkable.

I did not expect to be moved as I was by the vast grasslands. You may know that the Grand Canyon is a big hole in the ground but it still steals your breath when you stand at its edge. The Maasai Mara savannah is like that. Looking for miles in all directions, witnessing teeming herds of wild creatures, watching the cloud shadows race across the grass. It is a spiritual event.

The safaris were the highlight of the trip. We traveled in the same heavy duty four-wheel-drive Land Cruiser each day, modified for the rough terrain of the savannah and safe animal observation. The large windows, pop-up top, individual charging stations at each seat and additional cushions made long hours in the vehicle comfortable and ideal for close but safe viewing of the animals.

The animal encounters were intimate and almost too numerous to count. We saw dozens of lions, hippo, elephants, monkeys, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, antelope, gazelle, and exotic birds. We even saw elusive animals like hyenas, warthogs and white rhino. We visiting conservation centers dedication to rehabilitating orphaned animals (12 baby elephants simultaneously fed from 12 enormous baby bottles). The headliner for me was the 30+ minute encounter with a regal mother cheetah and her three fuzzy cubs.

In short, I cannot imagine visiting the wonders of Africa with any other group. I will return with family and friends so I can share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with them. Imara Africa gets a 10/10.

We had an amazing one-week safari in Kenya with IMARA SAFARI, traveling as a group of four. Everything was very well organized from start to finish.

The selection of lodges and hotels was excellent — comfortable, well located, and perfect for experiencing the different parks. Our itinerary included Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, and Amboseli, which was a fantastic combination of landscapes and wildlife.

Our driver-guide was one of the highlights of the trip. He was very experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly, and it was clear he knew the parks extremely well. Thanks to him we saw an incredible variety of animals and always felt safe and well taken care of. He was also very flexible with the daily schedule and adapted the program when needed so we could make the most of every day.

The safari vehicle was in very good condition and comfortable for the long drives, making the game drives very enjoyable.

Communication with the company was excellent throughout the entire trip. Through WhatsApp we always received very quick responses whenever we needed something. They were also incredibly helpful with several things that were not even part of their responsibilities, which we truly appreciated.

Overall, this was a fantastic experience and we highly recommend IMARA SAFARI to anyone planning a safari in Kenya. Professional service, great planning, and an unforgettable adventure.

We reached out to several Kenyan tour operators directly but ultimately selected Imara Africa Safaris due to Wendy's responsiveness, flexibility and attention to detail. We leaned on her experience and input as we crafted what ended up being a 10-day trip across Nairobi, Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli.

We were a little nervous at the nature of safari trips where upfront payments are made, but the Imara team delivered as planned, made accommodations for our 2 young girls (8 and 6) and assigned the best driver/guide in Eduard!

The trip itself was fantastic. Eduard was timely, patient and informative. We were also amazed at how he navigated all of Kenya with no maps or GPS, and was very successful at identifying animals, sharing fun facts and making the trip very memorable.

I would use Imara again in a heartbeat and have recommended them to a few friends since returning home.

We spent four days with our guide, Eduard, and we are incredibly grateful for him. He has extensive knowledge, which he shares in a natural and engaging way, but he is never pushy. He gave us the space to fully enjoy nature on our own and had a great sense of balance and timing. The days were intense but never tiring or overwhelming.

It’s important to remember that a safari is not a zoo — animals follow their own rhythm and natural instincts. Eduard had great respect for nature and wildlife. He never rushed the experience and never forced situations just to “tick a box.” At the same time, he did his very best to help us see as much as possible.

We covered many kilometers and visited several parks, yet we always felt completely safe. Eduard is a very skilled and responsible driver — despite long distances and sometimes challenging terrain, we never once felt that he put us at risk.

Although a safari is quite an expensive trip, it was 100% worth the money. We saw an incredible number of animals, even mothers with their babies. We were also very lucky to enjoy a stunning view of Mount Kilimanjaro, which made the experience even more special.

We are extremely satisfied and wholeheartedly recommend Africa Imara to anyone dreaming of a safari adventure. As a lovely bonus, we also received some very useful gadgets from the company — a thoughtful and appreciated touch.

From the very beginning of looking at tours to the planning, execution and finishing of the tour Imara were just the best. Lewis listened to what I wanted and planned everything to the letter. Communication was always excellent and some things were adapted as we went along. The tented camps and lodges did not disappoint. Simon, our driver was simply the best. He found sightings that I have never seen before during previous trips to Africa. He was an amazing driver and the land cruiser was really comfortable. I would recommend Imara to anybody planning a trip to Africa. It was great value for money and I could not fault anything. Lewis and his team were just so nice and went over and above what was needed.

Imara Africa is hands down the best tour operator in Kenya. I spent more than a week going back and forth with about 10 operators and researching and finally settled with Imara. Best quality price.

The service has been excellent from the beginning to the end. All of Imara's excursion are customizable, adding and removing activities, excursions, upgrading hotels, cars,etc.
No hidden fees!!! and the communication was great.

On top of it, the team was very accommodating. They picked us up at the airport at 5am, so we wouldn't wait extra time until 7. The entire team showed up to welcome us and provided us with a gift bag :-) which was very considerate.

We booked a 10-day Kenya safari with Imara, and it turned out to be one of the best travel decisions we’ve ever made.

Our itinerary covered Amboseli National Park, Nairobi National Park, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Giraffe Centre, Maasai Mara, and even included a visit to a Maasai village. From start to finish, Imara handled everything seamlessly—accommodation, food, park entry fees, and logistics were all taken care of with zero errors or last-minute surprises.

Now, coming to our guide—Anthony. Wow. He was simply brilliant. A joyful, warm, and extremely knowledgeable person, Anthony made the safari truly unforgettable. He kept us engaged throughout the journey with fascinating stories and detailed explanations about the animals and the parks.

On the very first day, he confidently promised that we would see the Big 5 in Maasai Mara —and incredibly, we spotted all of them on the first day itself! Not only that, we also saw the Ugly 5, and thanks to Anthony’s strong network with other guides, we were able to spot almost all animals in the park.

Anthony has an exceptional understanding of the parks and animal behavior. All we had to do was trust his instincts—whether it was starting very early in the morning, going for full-day game drives, or splitting the drives into two sessions. He also planned the drives based on the animals we wanted to see, which made the experience even more personalized. Whenever we requested stops for photography or animal sightings, he was more than happy to oblige. His driving was safe, smooth, and very professional.

Overall, this safari exceeded all our expectations. Imara delivers exactly what they promise—and more. I would highly recommend Imara to anyone planning a safari in Kenya. You’ll be in excellent hands.

We had an absolutely unforgettable safari experience, made even more special because we were travelling with our young boys, and every detail was planned so thoughtfully around our family’s needs.

We visited Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, and Amboseli, and each destination flowed seamlessly into the next. The pacing, lodge choices, and activities were perfectly planned, especially considering we were travelling with children. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy the experience as a family.

Imara Safaris made our trip seamless and effortless. We are just home from a 2 week trip in Kenya and could not fault their service. I emailed with a list of things I wanted from our trip and Wendy put together an amazing itinary for us. There were a couple of extra things I asked to add on before fully confirming my trip and nothing was a problem for her. Their communication was fantastic from start to finish, ensuring to check in a few times, through WhatsApp, during our trip to ensure everything was going smoothly and that we were happy.

We had so many lovely little surprises during the trip which really made it feel special and like a "honeymoon" rather than just a holiday. It was also my husband's birthday while we were there and Wendy organised a cake and some traditional dancing for him to mark the occasion.

Simon, our driver was super knowledgeable and a really great guy to spend time with. Always had a smile and happy to help. The jeep was comfortable with plenty of space for us (there were 6 seats in the back and only 2 of us), a pop top for amazing game viewing and photography and charging ports and WiFi throughout the drives.

On our last day Wendy, the company director Lewis and the lovely transfer driver Edward picked us up from our flight back from Diani beach and spent lunch with us before we caught our international flight, which I thought was a really nice touch and they were so keen to hear how we got on.

I should also mention that the price was very reasonable, and after giving Wendy my budget she created a plan to suit that.

I can't thank Imara Safaris enough for organising this holiday of a lifetime. I have already recommended them to a few friends and will continue to do so as they were fantastic to deal with. We hope we can visit Kenya again and I would not hesitate in booking them again. Thank you so much!
