Fined for parking at work!!

Fined for parking at work despite entering details into computer before they took over car parking enforcement at The Willowbrook Centre Bradley Stoke. £60 if you pay immediately or £100 if in 28 days. Been to work 6 times since this fine issued so should be expecting an overflowing letterbox. Absolute muppets!!

I was PCN'd for an overstay of 2…

I was PCN'd for an overstay of 2 minutes beyond the 10 minute grace period they say I was allowed, when I visited Anchor Retail Park in Hartlepool.
I visited at midday on Dec 23rd 2019 when it was almost impossible to move in the car park, and even more problematic in finding a Blue Badge Bay. It took at least 20 minutes to actually get parked, then another 15 minutes to get out of the car park when leaving as the road leading alongside was also really busy. That basically boils down to Frustration of Contract. They say that the time allowed in the car park is 2 hours, but the time parked was considerably less for the previous reasons of accessibility. I appealed on the basis that they should apply a further amount of time for the disabled who have difficulties in their movement but they have gone to a debt collector with this instead. Roll on. I eagerly look forward to telling my side of this to a judge. The Equalities Act has been well and truly ignored. They have a duty to allow further parking periods, such as ParkingEye do, even though they are also known bandits.

Bought advance parking at Manchester…

Bought advance parking at Manchester Airport for an upcoming holiday which was subsequently cancelled due to covid.
I paid extra at the time of booking for free cancellations
I cancelled as soon as the travel company let us know! Guess what hx done...
A voucher off future parking at Manchester Airport. We live 200 miles away so Manchester was our last resort but chose it as the only option we thought we were covered by the free cancellations fee but now I have a crappy voucher for parking in Manchester airport. This shouldn't be allowed I contacted my credit card company and they said what do the terms and conditions state. Of course I never read them because I thought the cancellations fee would cover it. Had I read the terms I wouldn't have looked

Cartmel Racecourse

Cartmel Racecourse

PCN issued as "failed to purchase ticket within 15 minute consideration period". Appealed as I was at the machine in plenty of time but had to wait behind a gentleman who was a blue badge holder and had to read the full signage to find out if he was entitled to free parking. Nowhere on the signage was this made clear. He then struggled to use the machine so I did this for him.

I pointed this out in the appeal but apparently I should have called them within 48 hours - which I would have done if I had realised I was outside the 15 minutes.

No sympathy from PCN and funnily enough I was warned about bad they were by a lady in the hotel where we ate. Such a shame such a pretty little village will be impacted by people not visiting due to how PCN operate as it is the main parking there.

I have written to the council pointing this out but not sure what they can do about it!

DO NOT PARK AT MARCO ISLAND CAR PARK IN NOTTINGHAM.

My Dad drove in, couldn’t get the pay machine to work so left - and ended up with a £100 fine for being in the building for 7 minutes - absolute con. Appealed and failed although did get the fine reduced to £20 - still appalling behaviour towards an OAP.

Shocking

Shocking! paid for ticket at Cartmel, two weeks later received a fine because I hadn't entered my full registration, still had the ticket plus the transaction on my bank statement so appealed and as a lot of you I failed.

According the British Parking Association Code of Practice changes which were effective from 6th January 2020 they state:

B) Major Keying Errors
Examples of a major keying error could include:

Motorist entered their spouse’s car registration
Motorist entered something completely unrelated to their registration
Motorist made multiple keying errors (beyond one character being entered incorrectly)
Motorist has only entered a small part of their VRM, for example the first three digits

In these instances we would expect that such errors are dealt with appropriately at the first appeal stage, especially if it can be proven that the motorist has paid for the parking event or that the motorist attempted to enter their VRM or were a legitimate user of the car park (eg a hospital patient or a patron of a restaurant).

HX do not deal with such errors appropriately! they just rob you blind

STAY AWAY FROM PARKING AT THE RACECOURSE

UPDATE been today to view the signage and guess what? A sticker has now been put on the pay machine stating that full and correct license plate must be entered, that most definitely is a new sticker 😡😡

People are winning in court.

I have had the same problem as the majority of people, I've entered my registration correctly, but the machine has deleted most of it. I have the ticket to prove I've paid for my parking time but lost my appeal. It's good to see that those who are taking them to court are winning. We all need to boycott their car parks and warn as many people as possible. Mine was at Victoria st Morecambe, a small car park, maybe holds 15 spaces, so losing business will have an impact on them. Thanks for the warnings about Cartmel and Lancaster.

Tried to park at Oxenholme House.

Tried to park at Oxenholme House car park. The machine wouldn't accept my card so tried via my mobile - again wouldn't accept my card, tried a couple of times then went over the road to the station car park (paid with my card no problem.) HX sent me a £60 charge because I spent 17 minutes trying to get their machine to work. I appealed to the 'Independent' Appeals Service who dismissed the appeal and HX now want £160! Citizens Advice tell me that these people are intransigent and aggressive. Looking at the reviews I can see one or two other words which are even more suited.

HX Car Park RACKET & Unfair Parking Charges - Cumbria

This isn't an operator who is content to issue fair PCNs for overstaying or non payment. Who does that any more? So not making enough money by playing fair, they have invented 2 new ways to fleece the motorist. First and most likely, allow the use of old Parkeon Strada pay machines which hiccup at least once a day and freezes while you are entering your vehicle registration number but still takes your coins. When the ticket emerges some of the VRN characters are missing. Somehow they make it your fault that the machine has failed! Secondly, they have a 10 minute limit on buying a ticket... in a ANPR managed car park! Why? Because it gives them an excuse to say you have breached their contract. Luckily 65 court cases have proven they were wrong. Look for our HX groups on Facebook if you need help to beat them.

Cartmel Car Park

We parked at Cartmel Racecourse to dine with relatives and spent money in the village, we overstayed in the car park and a week later received a pcn from HX car parking with no option to simply pay for the extra time we were parked, we contacted Cartmel Racecourse but they were not interested. The draconian attitude of HX car park management reflects badly on Cartmel Racecourse. We spent a lot of money in Cartmel that day but we have been fined for supporting local businesses by a company from Huddersfield. Was it legal for them to photograph my passenger without their permission?

Can’t give 0 otherwise I would. Parked at their managed car park at King Street Wigan. Paid. No contravention although their machine did not print the full reg that was entered by driver so a parking charge was given. Appealed to no avail. Now being taken to court. Their legal company is Gladstones. (Also a lack of morals). The missing characters on their machine printing appears to be a common problem and a way I feel they extort money from the vulnerable. It appears the courts are also becoming aware of this by people who are standing up to them. The landowners of the car parks also allow this to happen which is incomprehensible

Parked at Burnsall North Yorkshire on…

Parked at Burnsall North Yorkshire on 17th of Jan this year paid my £2.50 fee at the machine after getting change from the cafe - this would allow me to park for 21/2 hours I entered at 2.05pm and left at 3.40pm so winin the time and they have sent me a five for £60 stating when I appealed that my car reg no Or anything similar was not on the list of cars having paid that day - I am convinced I put my correct reg no in. Unfortunately I don’t have the issuex ticket to prove it
There were only myself and a couple of other cars parked in the car park at the time.
Unsure what to do now HELP feel like I’ve been completely had over by this lot

This company clearly has no morals…

This company clearly has no morals whatsoever and I am yet another person who has been scammed by this company at Cartmel racecourse. Having paid the correct parking charge n 3rd January and kept the ticket as proof they justify the fine by saying my full registration number was not displayed. I suspect they tamper with the machine to cause this outcome. I gather this has been highlighted in the local press. I have written to the Clerk of the Parish Council but clearly there is probably little they can do. However they ought to challenge the racecourse owners. We will never visit Cartmel again. What a shame that a lovely village is having its image tarnished by this scamming company.

Paid to park in Lancaster for 3 hours…

Paid to park in Lancaster for 3 hours and overstayed by just 20 minutes. If you cannot top up within 10 minutes of your expiry time and i couldn't because I was in the cinema, then you get charged £100. I will never use one of their car parks again as the £100 charge is totally disproportionate to the amount of time overstayed. They don't charge by the time on the machine but by the time in and out so no grace period for parking , buying ticket etc. Not a service provider, but just a money grabbing company. KEEP WELL CLEAR!!!

These scumbag lowlife sharks deserve 0 stars. They prey on innocent motorists and have no morals. If you see a car park run by these crooks then stay well clear.
If see one of their car parks just stay clear, I followed all signage paid for my parking by phone only option there was. Then got a £60 PCN. Which I then appealed followed the process required HX Car Park Management come up with images of signage that were not on display in the car park, just a digital image. My appeal was dismissed by the appeal my only other option would have been to go legal. I did not have the time or money so I have had to pay a £100 . On top of my original parking fee of £13.00. How can this be legal they using loopholes to get away with legal Robbery.

If it was possible to give less than one star, then I would.

Having passed her test around two weeks prior, my daughter went to an out of town retail park at around 6pm. When she went to leave the car park she had an altercation with another driver. This really shook her so much she didn't feel safe to drive and stayed over the 3-hour period. We explained this in the appeal to HX Car Park Management and they could see the green P on the photo of the car.

All they had to say was there are signs up and "By entering and remaining on the land, the driver has agreed to abide by all the contractual terms". All very true and we acknowledged it. Though personally, I would rather have someone park on my driveway and feel safe rather than them feel the absolute need to drive in a public road and not be in the right state of mind.

After rejecting our appeal, they said we could appeal their decision with theIAS.org, but IAS would not take mitigating circumstances and if the appeal with them was unsuccessful, then we would need to pay an additional £40 for costs incurred.

All very disappointing and makes me question why an out of town retail park would want to employ this company.

My daughter received a PCN thru the…

My daughter received a PCN thru the post a week before christmas for not purchasing a ticket near Lancaster bus station. She had bought a ticket and left in the correct time slot but she had only put the last 3 letters of her number plate as is normal where we live in cumbria. I appealed the charge but they turned it down as she had not followed the instructions correctly. They could blatantly see that she had bought one but denied her appeal on a technicality as she never followed the instuctions on the parking meter! I explained that it was dark, raining and she had only recently passed her test (she is 18) but they couldnt care less!! What an awful company!!!!!!
