Solihull store was easy to access and park. Rachel took us through the whole process with extensive knowledge and professionalism.

Delivery set at 6-8 weeks so we should be set for a comfortable Christmas!

Racheal at HSL Shirley was amazing! We didn’t quite know what we needed and she explained all the products and she was very informative and let us try each product until we finally got the correct suite for our needs.

Excellent service.

Nothing was too much trouble. They went out of their way to make sure I had the right chair for me.
I am 91 and get tired easily.
I thought I would find choosing

Two hours and two coffees later I left the store very happy with my visit and the chair I had chosen.

Big store with plenty of sofas and chairs on display. Staff all knowledgeable and very attentive.
They will help uncover your ideal requirements and offer good suggestions without being too pushy. Whilst you can wander independently they are generally present and suggesting settees that fit your brief.
Order process was easy and clearly explained.
Delivery approx 6 - 8 weeks.

I visited the Shirley, Solihull branch today with my mother. The service we received from Vicky was exceptional (with other members of staff providing us with tea and coffee and additional advice). Vicky made my mother feel comfortable and talked her through all the options in a calm and patient way. We left happy with our final order and are excited to receive it. In addition, the customer toilets were extremely clean and much more than your average shop facilities.

Everything about the riser recliners was explained ny Micheal, different sizes, styles, we tried them all, petite size was the right one for my husband, then had to decide which style was best suited, after much deliberation the Aysgarth chair was his choice. We were not pressured, we were able to take our time and even enjoyed a coffee and biscuits while making our minds up.

Update: After my review of HSL below, I was contacted by Lauren from customer services. Lauren's intervention saw the matter resolved very quickly. Armcaps were delivered a few short days later and the cost of them refunded as a good will gesture. Thank you to Lauren for showing us the type of customer service that we expect. Much appreciated. 5 stars!!

I took my 82yr old Mother to HSL Solihull on the 12th July 2026 to look for a new armchair. We were made very welcome by Rachael who made my Mother very comfortable in the ‘Rolls Royce’ chair.
 
To cut a long story short, my Mother bought the chair at well over £2000, including all the various warranties and care kit and some matching armcaps.
 
As they had the exact chair in stock, it was delivered a few days later on the 16th July, sadly the armcaps were not included. The chap who delivered it called the office to get the armcaps sent out via courier and I received another emailed order for these the same day.
 
They didn’t arrive so we went back to the store in Solihull the following week where a gentleman dealt with us and told us that he’d email the person who dispatches items from their factory, and said he’d call me the following day with an update. I didn’t receive any update so I had to called him later that afternoon when I got home from work around 4pm. He said that the armcaps had been missed off the order when the chair was being prepared for dispatch. He also told us that they would be sent by courier and it would normally take between 5-7 working days to arrive.
 
We waited again and no sign of anything from HSL for over a week. I called customer services to try and get a straight answer as I cannot help thinking that we were being lied to by the chap at the Solihull branch.
 
The lady from customer services was very helpful but told us that they had no armcaps in stock and it would take two weeks to manufacture more before any were dispatched to us. She said that I should call back in two weeks and check on the progress. I haven’t called as I don’t think it’s on me to do that. HSL should be calling us.
 
It has now been over two weeks since I contacted them and still we have received nothing. No armcaps or any update.
 
It has been a very poor display from HSL for something that should be easy to resolve.
 
My Mother is happy with the chair overall but we are extremely annoyed by the lack of service and care shown by HSL in resolving this issue from six weeks ago. I would request our money back if I didn’t think it would be a massive battle that takes up a lot more of my time.

The young lady (and the young man driver/porter) were both delightful!
Everything explained clearly, and being able to see the size of the chair in my home was very good.
The furniture seems very well made, and there is a huge range of patterns and colours to choose from.
I know the furniture lasts as I am replacing it for some of the same from 2016- bought from the Shrewsbury branch - nothing wrong with it, just fancied a change and it is as cheap to buy new than have the old one recovered!
The gift of the tea-bags and ginger biscuits is an added bonus!
I now wait for my chair and sofa to be delivered.

From the moment we were greeted by Rachel in the Shirley showroom, I felt confident that we were getting good service. Rachel was knowledgeable about the products. When Craig and Lee delivered and installed my beautiful chair, they were very kind considerate and mindful about how they came into the property. All round good experience. Would highly recommend. Fantastic service. Staff were really caring and really patient with my mum who struggles to make her mind up. They took the time to not only fit a chair but also to explain why each chair was suitable and how it would benefit my mum. Highly recommended.

Had a very comfortable and beautiful sofa from Solihull store a couple of months ago however we felt we needed another section to complete it, it was delivered and put together by Alex and Rich who made sure everything was perfectly adjusted they were very efficient thank you guys x

I had heard of the HSL reputation so when I decided to buy a recliner chair, I thought I would go straight to the experts. The Specialist who assisted me was everything I had hoped she would be. Rachel was very knowledgeable and efficient, totally professional and very friendly. My whole experience in store was first class. And I was delighted with the choice of designs and fabrics and options. I visited the store a couple of times before deciding on the design and always felt welcome and under no pressure. I'm really thrilled with my choice and the in-store experience was great. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and Rachel went the extra mile. Thank you!
