I had my Range Rover Velar fixed by Shaun of Shaun King Vehicle Engineering near St Austell PL24 2SU. Excellent service and carried out extra work with no extra charge. I would certainly recommend Shaun and his team and the car is booked in again in September for other works to be carried out. 10 out of ten. Best regards Angus.

Bad company don’t use

Read article about EVs being more reliable than ICE cars. Information based on MOT results which are not comparable. Information also provided using a Forecaset which has not been proven. Did not mention tyre pollution or infrastructure pollution. So much for 'Honest John'

Honest John not so honest.
Outdated and unreliable information.
Went onto their website to gather information on the latest 2025 VW T-cross.
Their review claimed it was a 2025 review and yet they were giving prices and specs from 2018!
Lazy, inaccurate, outdated and misleading.

250k miles in drive all over the country. absolutely beautiful to drive. Turbos last 120k had two hand brake problem solved and a few other minor issue's but what to expect on any car. Very strong engines. Overall excellent car

Requested a large table for 4 on a pre booking as on a previous visit found the table very cramped
Arrived and was placed on a very small table in a dark corner next to the front door , was absolutely freezing especially when people in and out the food was mediocre with the hanging chicken kebab’s cremated and dried out
Found the front of house arrogant and not really listening to our concerns
Will not be visiting again

We are glad to have a company as such to review cars honestly and give a better understanding of what vehicle to purchase especially used vehicles where one cold save thousands in repair. Hopefully it stays that was and they do not selloff to a giant auto manufacturer.

I tried to get a valuation for a car I'm interested in buying.
They asked me two questions - the registration number and the mileage.
I gave them both.

Their answer is 'Sorry we don't have enough data to value your car accurately'.

What rubbish is that? They ask two questions, I give them the answers and they say there's not enough info.

I suggest that they have a look at what other websites are asking - the same questions actually - and they manage to give me an answer.

I guess these guys just can't be bothered.

Hit a brick wall trying to deal with a car dealer and manufacturer regarding the specification/options in the contract I signed and what was delivered. Dealer gave explanations that just didn't add up and the manufacturer's customer service dept would only refer me to the dealer. HJ got the bit between his teeth and suddenly all was explained. Armed with the correct information I can now have a proper conversation with the dealer. I'm so grateful for HJ's (completely free) speedy assistance and advise.

Believe gone into administration last year?
Always like this site but gone totally off it as reviews of products have a link to buy on Amazon 90% of the time
So how honest is this John??

Have been trying to contact for months regarding a review left. Another company using our name in a completely different area has been left a bad review but we are unable to make contact or be given the courtesy of a reply.
We can prove its not us but not given the opportunity to do this.
Seems anyone can go on and leave reviews but unlike any other review forum you are not able to contest.
We are a specialist Air Conditioning company with over 30 years in the industry and to be frank some of the advice offered by so called honest John is so in accurate and misleading with regards to usage / operation & servicing.
Message to honest John...... Take the time to read and reply to you emails and seek specialist advice before adding content as you are misleading and mis informing your readers (air conditioning) suspect this could be the case in other areas but i am not a specialist in every motoring area therefore i can not confirm this. You are not specialist in every area therefore you should be getting facts verified prior to printing.

We first picked up on the knowledge of HJ in the Daily Telegraph Saturday Motoring section decades ago. The world has moved on but we still ask him all sorts of questions over email about cars and motoring and value the responses.

We dont always agree with some of the opinions but the sum of the parts is a well trusted encyclopaedia for those of us who hate going anywhere near a garage and dealing with people who, according to a survey I read today, we trust less than Estate Agents.
