I've always been sat on the fence regarding the afterlife and last night was my first experience at Ashwell prison. I can now say I'm no longer sat on the fence, the activity was brilliant and unexplainable. Our tour guide Laura was amazing and made our group feel easy. Laura was our guide at Ashwell prison last night. I am not always sure what to expect on a ghost hunt. A fairly small group with some good energy. Lots of activity from the equipment and time for free exploring at the end. We even have some interesting videos and was able to use the debunking methods they suggested ! We will be booking again !

We attended Newsham Park Hospital last…
We attended Newsham Park Hospital last night, there was 10 in our group plus our lovely guide and her friend. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. She was so welcoming and put us all right at ease. Once we were shown all the equipment she encouraged us to fully participate and use all the equipment for ourselves. We went up to the top floor where the naughty boys corridor is and heard voices and noises on the devices. We went all over and had such a spooky and funny night, loved every second (maybe apart from being shut in the naughty boys cupboard in the dark 🤣). We will definitely be booking on another one. Thanks to our guide for putting up with us especially my naughty dad 🤣. 10 out of 10.

Me and my sister attended Shrewsbury prison on Saturday, our 3rd time with the company. We did try another company some years ago and we instantly returned to you as it’s SO much better with you guys! We have met more than 7 members of the team members/hosts both at Shrewsbury prison and other venues. I cannot say a bad word about any of them, they are all so lovely, supportive and encouraging. All of you guys are so friendly and welcoming! The venues themselves are equally as amazing, with lots of evidence found. Me and my sister have throughly enjoyed every venue we have been and we thank the company for allowing us the opportunity!

Shrewsbury Prison 14th June 2025
I have very recently done a ghost hunt at Shrewsbury Prison, and it did not disappoint at all, not only in terms of activity (the evidence of an orb and aswell as the K2 going to red at the same time caught by my friend and me, has blown my mind!) but also the team. The team members are all so kind and caring towards everyone. They make you feel comfortable in every situation and explain methods and techniques very well when needed. The event as a whole was very well planned and ran very smoothly, and I absolutely love that they encourage free time, where you get to use the equipment and investigate without the team if you want to. Even if you want to go with a team member, they are more than happy to do so. I will 100% be coming back, not just to Shrewsbury Prison but anywhere with this team.

Norton Priory
Went to Norton Priory. Had a very enjoyable evening with the team. The guides for our group were Polly and James. They were very helpful and very keen for everyone to be involved and enjoy the experience.
Ended the night with my girlfriend and James asking questions to a swinging crystal. I sit on the fence when it comes to believing, but the crystal kept changing direction when we asked questions

We went to 30 east drive great…
We went to 30 east drive great experience from the spirits not so by the staff they didn’t feel like they wanted to be there it put a dampen on the experience. When asked for equipment and to explore they said everyone is doing it few minutes after asking someone else asked and got give equipment got let to explore on his own very blunt to my partner aswell . When talking to spirit the staff member came interrupted and put a blocker on the spirit soon she left they come back I asked the spirit if she put a blocker on the energy they answered ye so fast wasn’t very nice to be honest nobody else got interrupted. It’s been my worse experience so far and I’ve been to three places. Stuff wasn’t very bothered about hearing your experience and no information was given about the house or what happened when asked you would have thought they would know as the last two I’ve been on by the end liked to tell you about the place and hear about your experience tell you about others that matched yours. Staff. Very very blunt staff.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I'm sorry to hear your experience at 30 East Drive didn’t quite match what you'd hoped for, especially if your past ghost hunts with other companies felt more engaging or informative.
While 30 East Drive is a location steeped in reputation and activity, it is also extremely compact. For that reason, we generally structure our vigils in small group formats rather than solo exploration, to ensure both safety and atmosphere are maintained. That said, our team should always remain approachable and supportive, and I’m disappointed to hear that this didn’t come across as it should have on the night. Your feedback has been noted and will be reviewed internally.
You also mentioned a “blocker” being placed on the energy — this isn’t something we’ve come across as part of any standard practice, so I’d be really interested to understand more about what happened there if you’re happy to share.

We visited 30 East drive last night 05/06/2025.. Chris and Nick our hosts were fantastic so friendly and very knowledgeable!! .. we were very lucky to have had a small group. We highly recommend this company.. lots of activity was experienced and still can't explain it .. the stair area and upstairs were very active and lots of emotions felt. A Hauntingly Unique Experience with Haunted Houses At The Skirrid Inn
If you're seeking a ghostly adventure unlike any other, Haunted Houses delivers an experience where the spirits themselves are your storytellers. With no historical information provided upfront, the night becomes a journey of discovery as you piece together the puzzle of the past through paranormal interactions.
One of the highlights of my evening was spending an hour in the bath, where spirits interacted with guests in a different room through the equipment I was using. At the time, the random words I heard seemed disconnected, but as the night unfolded, their meaning became clear and eerily tied to the events taking place.
Upstairs was especially active for us, with the atmosphere electric with activity. However, when we moved downstairs, the energy noticeably faded. What I appreciated most was the honesty of our hosts—they explained how this ebb and flow is normal. As the night wore on and our energy waned (it was 2 a.m. by then!), it was fascinating to learn that this can impact the session. Rude team member
Ide like to make a huge complaint towards one of your team members (pink hair) I joined your company for the 2nd time at a different location to the first. This women was extremely ignorant and rude towards me personally and I dont know why? I was on her team, I was asking her questions during break, just to get to know her as it was just us two outside but my answers I got from her was very blunt and rude. So I struged it off and asked her another question and she answered me in the same manor she just didnt want to talk too me and as she uses a walking stick I kindly asked her if she needed help standing up then she sharply said no! I don't want help! I said okay thats fine no problem and I went back in. Myself and 2 other guest was doing glass tipping in the dungeon and because im tall I said to her "can someone swap,.my back hurts" she rolled her eyes and ignored me. So I asked again and instead of making eye contact with me, she looked at the other guests to see who can take my place. No one wanted to so I just pulled away. I used to be apart of a ghost hunting team and we would never!!! Treat our paying customers like the way she treated me, I did not do nothing wrong, every time I saw her sitting down I would ask if she needed help getting up and she said sharply no im fine!. I took this all very personal as she didn't treat anyone of the other guests like that... she was extremely rude and ignorant and because of her (pink hair) don't remember her name.. I will not be joining your company again. She ruined my night!! And it was also my birthday.. unbelievable behaviour coming from a so called professional ghost hunting company.

Eyebrow raising for the wrong reasons
What’s frustrating for me about my visit with Haunted Houses at Pen-y-Lan hall is the night started off with an incredibly promising start, but overall I felt our hosts lacked control of the group.
When it comes to the paranormal, it’s imperative to debunk and to not sensationalise, to leave the spirits time to respond and to not let history define an investigation. These are sentiments that the hosts themselves expressed.
While I appreciate the person in question was a paying guest, her actions directly undercut Haunted Houses’ self-proclaimed ethos, and this led to a confusing and overall frustrating night that could have been remedied if the hosts attempted to lead and instruct the guests more.
I would urge Haunted Houses hosts, who have been doing this for many many years now, to strip back to basics and reconnect with their spiritual sides. Because there was genuine activity at Pen-y-Lan hall, and I feel the investigation could have taken a genuinely intriguing turn had the hosts not behaved the way they did off the back of basic activity.
Perhaps the hosts were genuinely shocked and frightened by what they had seen, however it seemed like all efforts to debunk and educate guests went out of the window and the vigils instead became performative.
I really wanted to and tried my hardest to get stuck into the activities the hosts set out for us, and there were some genuinely solid pieces of advice given throughout the night which could have led to a deeply informative and spiritual night. But I feel that Haunted Houses prioritise sensationalism and goosebumps over genuine spiritual connection, which just isn’t for me. If I wanted cheap thrills I would watch a horror film.
Overall, this seems like an expensive way to get a kick out of spirits which is unfair and morally grey. I do hope this is just an off night for Haunted Houses as it genuinely makes me happy that a paranormal group like yourselves can be so successful. We’re genuinely sorry to hear the night didn’t meet your expectations. While we’re pleased that you found parts of the evening promising, it's disappointing to read that your overall takeaway was one of frustration rather than curiosity or connection.
We’d like to be very clear that we do not encourage sensationalism or theatricality in any part of our events. We’ve always championed critical thinking, space for silence, and guest-led exploration. It’s a core part of our approach, and that hasn’t changed.
The guest you mentioned — who has now been referenced multiple times across reviews — was just that: a paying guest. She did not represent our team, and while she may have participated actively during that final vigil, she was not leading it. We understand how perceptions form in group settings, but we can’t and won’t police how individual guests choose to engage, unless it poses a disruption or risk to others — which in this case, it didn’t.
Your comment about our hosts needing to "strip back and reconnect with their spiritual sides" is noted — but also quite personal. Our team are deeply committed to what they do, and many of them balance demanding professional lives to continue supporting these events, often on little rest. To suggest they’re not spiritually engaged based on a single vigil — or that they were giggling rather than leading — doesn’t reflect the experience of the many other guests in the room.
We respect that everyone brings their own expectations to a ghost hunt. For some, it’s about chills and energy. For others, it’s about evidence and quiet connection. We try to meet all of those needs — but we can’t always deliver every type of experience in one evening, especially when the direction of the night is influenced as much by the group dynamic as it is the activity itself.
We always reflect on feedback, and we’ll do the same with yours. But we must also protect our team from suggestions that their professionalism or purpose is disingenuous. We are here for the right reasons — and always have been.

I am leaving this as it’s my own thoughts but to Thank you for your reply on Jordan’s review. I’m sharing this follow-up as I’m unable to respond directly to Jordan’s comment on my original review.
Firstly, we’d like to clarify that we never stated we were “amateurs.” In fact, both myself and Jordan have had plenty of experience with paranormal investigations over the years — not just as guests on events, but also as part of a dedicated paranormal team, travelling up and down the UK investigating locations. We’ve also worked alongside other teams during that time. The two girls in our group were newer to the field, but we all attended with genuine interest and an open mind — not as critics, but as people passionate about the subject.
We did enjoy attending the event and appreciated the opportunity to explore such a well-known location — being there was something we had genuinely looked forward to. However, the specific incidents we’ve mentioned were genuinely disappointing and unfortunately overshadowed parts of the night that could have been much more impactful.
Yes, we remained until the end — but it’s important to note that the questionable activity only occurred during the final vigil. Afterwards, we took some time to explore other parts of the venue that we hadn’t seen earlier, before then choosing to leave. Our engagement throughout the night was not a sign that we blindly accepted everything we witnessed — we participated because firstly engagement encourages activity and we take these experiences seriously, and out of respect for the event we paid for.
Regarding the guest you referenced — we fully understand she may have been a paying customer. However, her previous connection to your team, her leading role in parts of the vigil, and the fact that she was directly involved in the most suspect activity naturally raised red flags. She was sat directly opposite us, and the knocks consistently came from around her — yet when the spirit was asked if it was next to her, it said no, which only added to our doubts. It didn’t feel right, and we have every right to express that observation.
We’re not accusing anyone maliciously — we’re simply pointing out what we experienced firsthand. We understand how noise transfer can work in old buildings, but these weren’t random creaks. What we witnessed appeared orchestrated, and as experienced investigators, we know the difference between something unexplained and something unconvincing.
We also want to say that this review — and our feedback — was never meant to discredit your team or your entire business. We did enjoy parts of the night, and some moments were genuinely interesting. But when things don’t feel authentic, it’s fair for paying guests to question them.
It’s disappointing that your response focused more on defending your reputation and making assumptions about our background than acknowledging any possibility of misunderstanding or room for growth. Our aim wasn’t to create division in the paranormal community — just to share an honest account of what we felt and saw.
We do wish you all the best for future events and hope our feedback, whether you agree with it or not, is taken as a chance to reflect — not just deflect

We do appreciate that all guests come with their own experiences, expectations, and understanding of the paranormal — and it’s clear from your message that you have a genuine passion for the subject, which we respect. At no point did we intend to diminish that.
When we referred to your group as "amateur investigators," we simply meant hobbyists — individuals who explore the paranormal out of personal interest, rather than as professionals or those running events for commercial gain. It was not meant as a criticism, but simply to distinguish independent guests from those working within the industry.
We do find it regretful that this has resulted in a one-star review, particularly as much of the frustration seems directed toward a third party — a fellow guest — rather than the event itself or our team. It’s always disappointing when an evening designed to be immersive and enjoyable ends in disillusionment, especially when it involves tension between guests over trust.
We would kindly suggest that, in future, if there is ever doubt or concern during or after any event or service, reaching out to the company directly first can often lead to a more balanced and constructive outcome for all involved. A conversation can clear up misunderstandings, offer reassurance, and often avoid the lasting impact of a public review that may not reflect the full picture.
Regarding the final vigil: the guest in question was a paying attendee acting independently. While she had a distant past connection to Haunted Houses Events and was open about this, she has had no involvement with us in over five years. She was not part of the team and held no role on the evening. We understand how perceptions can form in charged settings, but all activity on the night was spontaneous and unscripted.
We never claim that everything witnessed during an event is paranormal — and in fact, we encourage healthy scepticism. Our aim is to provide guests with the opportunity to explore, not to manufacture outcomes.
