A dreadful agency that sadly dominates the Scottish private house hold staffing market. I found a position many years ago through this agency. A perfect picture was painted by them and the family. On my 2nd day the horrific treatment begun. Greycoat lumleys did nothing to help me. They were only interested in getting their fees. I managed to get away after the most traumatic experience. I found out a while after the families next victim was there a few days. Greycoat lumleys Scotland sadly get many of the nice positions in. Now 10 years later if I enquire about any position I am palmed off by some pathetic excuse because the agent in Edinburgh who remembers me. I wish that employers searching for staff would not go to them. Over the years in a few shooting lodges I’ve managed the employers has had staff sent by Greycoat lumleys and the staff have been below average in their ability and not suitable for the positions because their CV’s have been tarted up to make them seem attractive to the employer. I would not ever recommend Greycoat Lumleys as a staffing agency, they only want the huge final fee.

I have been employed by Greycoat Lumleys for about four years now. My consultant and all the other staff, including the payroll team are very professional. My consultant, Simona is incredibly quick and helpful in resolving various booking-related issues. She always acts impartially and fairly, which is what I value most in a person. These amazing people make me feel valued and appreciated, and I love working with them.

Not a serious agency don't trust it just what I suggest!

If the manager is unable to write a polite email, you can imagine how meetings go. I have dealt with this agency numerous times over decades and they continue to get worse. There are many other private agencies who can manage to employ people with a basic level of courtesy.

Worst experience ever!
I been in childcare since 2007 when the recruiter A asked me how much I want to charge for the trial I said 1700 per week she told me it was too much that I should ask for 1000 I did negotiate with the family and I got a final offer of 1500 per week. Then the family change their mind and decided to do the trial with a Northland nanny instead so they inform A that they were not going to continue with the trial on Wednesday 16th but she forgot to tell me so I got all ready to fly to Germany on the 22nd........then she send me an email on the 22nd to tell me she apologize she forgot to tell me the trial was cancelled very interesting situation indeed.

I am reading candidates (and clients) reviews,i have never read reviews on Truspilot or other sites.I have register with Greycoat,they found me a job in a week.And i went to Greycoat office they were normal.My employers were friendly,but i quitted after 3 months,because i didn't want to work 12 hours a day,5 days and an half per week,even well paid,but i could not put it words,to tell them.I did miss them after ! not for the money.but the atmosphere was fun,although extremely busy.

Yes i am sorry for using you and that you could not be better too. Also the acknowledgement was online given i refuse to speak to you offline because the replies and info you give cannot be trusted.
It's just so untrustworthy when people only want to communicate verbally, to me it's an admission you don't want proof of what is said.

Echoing previous reviews, all that matters to them is the money rather than the truth.
Secrets and not sharing knowledge of problem employers leading to bad placements but they don't care as they get paid to then poorly place someone else!
No sense or care for how they are screwing with people's lives.
Have instructed them to remove me from their system, dealing with them and the salesperson (as that's what they are aafter all!) Georgia was an awful experience. Lies, secrets and just no sense of decency above and beyond getting what they want.
There are better companies out there where the agents treat you like a person rather than simply a commission, Isabella over at Exclusive Household Staff is fantastic, she can chat, laugh, joke but also take it seriously. The best agent i have dealt with.
Give them a go over these who i guess used to be good once upon a time.

I’ve been working for GreyCoat for more than 6 months and I always had good experiences, My managers Lauren and Gabriel always listen to my needs and they happy to help me when I need. I work for GreyCoat as a side job and is being amazing for extra hours!

I used Greycoats for a Housekeeper. I think their main interest is their fee and covering their backside. The references they took were hopelessly inaccurate. The lady they found Cristina was reluctant to drive - I had told them driving was essential; she was also a serial liar; she was reluctant to follow instructions; she took 3 weeks holiday in the first four months; she secretly left breaching her contract; and has left owing money and with various letters arriving from debt collectors. Just hopeless. Avoid.

I have to be completely honest, I don’t like giving bad reviews but I hope to help others in need of a job before they consider registering. The application process is very lengthy, and to become a candidate you will need to do extra steps such as photo copying your passport and asking the post office to verify it which is at a cost. The interview process is very long and they promise to help you and lift your hopes up.

After registering and you are interested in so many roles, you find that all agents there don’t give you any chance to interview with the clients. They simply say you don’t have enough formal experience. Even someone with plenty of experience, with ability for the roles, they are not interested. I feel they are willing only to take on ‘senior’ candidates with 15+ years of experience, then you’ll be a good fit for the roles. So my advice is anyone of a younger age, don’t register with this agency as you’ll have countless rejection and feel as though you are not good enough. I gave up in the end and feel much better for it. Please just save your time and try other agencies that care more.

We wish we had seen the reviews posted here before instructing them to find staff. We are taking legal action against them to recover our substantial costs and fees paid to them. If you’re an employer expect unsuitable candidates. They claimed to have only had “4 or 5 issues such as ours in 20 years”. Well, reading the reviews here that is clearly not true.

My experience of greycoat lumleys has been 5 star, it has taken a while to find the right job for me, but you have to realise that due to the nature of the high end clients, job vacancies for specific roles, you need to wait for and you will be rewarded with a stunning location and family to work for.

My agent Aaron has been amazing, so warm and friendly and professional, he has been with me every step of the journey, from my 1st interview to set me up with greycoats and offering support and advice before my face to face meetings with the client and he has been the key link to my new principal owners to "sell" me,and alway at the end of the phone or email.

I would highly recommend this fantastic high end agency.

This is a terrible company and the managing director Debbie Salter does not respond to clients and they place flakey candidates. The agency does not take child care seriously and they are not to be trusted.

Waist of time and effort ending up nearly getting scammed paid £42 and once the lender received it they wanted more money i thing another £78 if i do not get the money back shall report them to the police

False ads to lure you in and once they have copies of documents they "must have to proceed with the application" photo, proof of I.D, etc the position is suddenly withdrawn due to 'having a candidate on trial or client is going to wait till later in the year'. Not real jobs and clearly just fishing for your data, DON'T SEND ANYTHING TO THEM, I have no idea what there going to do with my data I hope it's not a scam. Save yourself slot of hassle and don't bother.

I saw a job which was ideal on their website so I uploaded my CV and tried to apply, but unfortunately you need a client number and you have to wait for them to contact you, you can’t apply until they think you are worthy to apply for their clients.
I decided to email a member of the team and stated how much I’d like to apply for this job, and within 2 minutes I got a reply to say she read my CV and my 15years experience in the field wasn’t enough. She stated someone was at the second interview stage…. It was a very patronising email and I won’t hold my breath for a client number for future opportunity’s.

It does not surprise me that the Greycoat approach is simply not to engage with a forum like this where all of their very unhappy customers might congregate and provide details of their experiences!

We paid them thousands of pounds for an employee who was at best average (and often worse than that!) and when she left (giving us no notice and after not being with us for long) they provided no help with finding anyone else and simply expected another huge fee, for doing virtually nothing, and despite the very poor experience we had had the first time around.
