We had a fabulous experience

Hotel not up to the standard expected from Great Rail Journeys. It was poorly located with road traffic noise disturbing sleep. Being based in Derby meant daily approximately one hour long coach journeys to reach the Peak District resulting in time lost which could have better used seeing more of the Peaks.

A well thought out excursion covering many aspects of the Peak District. A delight.

Wonderful break. Beauty countryside. We were well looked after as always.

The Hotel was poor, the trips were rushed/had things missed out as we were an hour away each way and there were 39 on the tour

We really enjoyed the trip and they are only one or two gripes. The courier and guide were really good. I made the whole trip very enjoyable. On reflection, I think that the visit to Bakewell did not amount too much as there is little to explore there. The other thing to mention is that for vegetarians the meals, lack choice. Finally the absence of a chest of drawers Are in fact, any drawers in the room we found frustrating.

An excellent tour of the magnificent Peak district by coach and trains.

Beautiful scenery, interesting places visited. Excellent tour manager and local guide. Hotel not up standard we have had on past holidays

Lovely area and excellent tour manager. Let down by poor hotel service and distance from Train Station. Of the two included rail journeys one was excellent and the other disappointing.

An excellent itinerary but we did not like the hotel

Excellent tour manager. Chatsworth visit good. Heritage railways disappointing - very old stock; not running to time. Hotel ok other than for dinner which was very basic and not well served.

overall a excellent trip , the only downside was the distance from the hotel to the railway station, maybe someone from geat rail could have advised on the distance We walked form the station with our suitcases quite a slog

On the whole very good but a few things could have been better.

Hotel clean and comfortable, parking just across the road. Trips well organised, guides very informative and knowledgeable.

The group tours were well organised and punctual. Our tour guide Barbara was excellent. Also Carol, the guide to Buxton and our coach driver Roger. The hotel and meals were excellent.

A lovely introduction to the Peak District, an area I hadn't visited before

Wonderful. Relaxing trip, with Atha, who made us feel really looked after and paid real attention to our every need. This .ade for a true great holiday. Unfortunately, 4 stars only as, although hotel staff were really lovely and very helpful, especially for me as I have a very difficult diet and I was really well looked after by the restaurant .manager and staff, generally the food was quite meager. We had to order our meal the night before and for each course we were called up to get it, reminiscent of school dinners. We were very aware also that the hotel were working to a tight budget as the protein ele.ent was very little limited and often felt to be prepackaged. Another thing that could have been better was storage in our very nice room, as there were no drawers or shelves for clothes and belongings. It was obvious the hotel is o lying used to one night stays and b and b guests. Location was great, bed Comfy , breakfast very enjoyable.
