A little more advanced detail on each train trip duration would have been useful. Otherwise, a very well organised trip with an expert Tour Manager

An absolutely brilliant holiday and experience. Our tour guide Paul Parmenter was outstanding. His obvious enthusiasm for and knowledge of Swizerland and the train network was obvious and he did his utmost to ensure that everyone had a great holiday wether that was through his organisation on days together or suggestions for free time. He had obviously put so much effort and work into ensuring a successful trip for everyone.
Excellent tour, most ably lead by tour manager Paul. He dealt with the two or three elderly travellers with patience, care and courtesy. The Bernina express and Glacier express were fabulous, but a little more previous information on what was available to order on the latter would have been helpful- for example we were advised to take packed lunch and drinks with us- in the event we could have had a two or three course lunch served in our seats. On the free days, Paul was always available with help and advice, which made the tour even more successful. Both the Arosa valley trip and the Gornergrat railway were stunning! The snag- not caused by Great Rail Journeys- was the complete chaos at the Gare du Nord on our return. As always, Paul looked after us manfully, but the delay caused by, I think, three delayed trains made the two hour delay, with completely inadequate seating, total lack of information from Eurostar and hundreds of passengers being herded like cattle, all with luggage is totally unacceptable. I have tried to get compensation from Eurostar, with the reply "Sorry we could not process your compensation" as they do not appear to be interested in Group Bookings. A delightful trip, pleasant and friendly hotels with excellent facilities and good food. My third trip with Great Rail Journeys- and it won't be the last. Highly reccommended! Tony Pitt

Great experience & really enjoyed the trip. It would have been even better if Great Rail Journeys had booked hotels with restaurants in them. We had to go to different restaurants for dinner each evening except for one night. Great views from the Bernina Express & Glacier Express.
My first tour with a guide and on train to Switzerland, also first visit. Whole experience was great. What a wonderful experience.

A brilliant holiday experience with an excellent guide that made sure every element of our holiday was covered. As our holiday involved lots of train travel across France and Switzerland it was great to be able to enjoy the experience knowing someone else was ensuring everything went to plan. I cannot praise our guide enough, she was brilliant and the company had ensured we got to see all the best locations. Five stars!
This holiday, my 2nd with GRJ, was every bit as good from the point of view of the arrangements ie choice of locations, the variety of travel types, and the excellent tour manager. I was hugely impressed by the grandeur of the Swiss mountains but this became even more so when the local guide for the day in Zermatt explained the history of skiing options and climbing exploits. I still marvel at the mountain railways. So a wonderful experience

Excellent tour manager! Two hotels great one disappointing! Excessive time spent on trains resulting in antisocial eating times! Two hotels too far from station to easily pull suitcases! Scenery fantastic but an exhausting trip

A great experience
The Glacier Express & the Bernina Express were both good day trips, there were 5 other days which involved being sat on the floor in railway stations waiting for trains and transfers. Trains were always really busy & sometimes you couldnt get a seat. If you need to take a large suitcase you will struggle.
