Moving back to radio2
Things I don't like:
1. Grace Ohare (needs to be replaced with someone who can present the news clearly and concisely)
2. Make me a winner (constantly pushing listeners to gamble)
3. Repetitive playlists (especially Pet shop boys and Queen)
4. Overly long adverts (and their annoying jingles)
Things I like:
Pop Master

I get a bit frustrated listening to GHR mainly because it’s the same old presenters being moved about from one national station to another! No new voices no Joe Public getting a chance that’s why local radio is non existent and doesn’t cater for the local Community anymore. There is only Simon Mayo and his team the rest are on a turntable themselves!
Far far far too many ads only tune in…
Far far far too many ads only tune in for pop master now...15 mins on the station.
GHR is a brilliant concept
GHR is a brilliant concept, playing music from the golden age of music, the 70s, 80 & 90s with a sprinkling of music from the 60s. Unfortunately with thousands and thousands of tracks to pick from, why oh why do they continue to play the same songs over and over and over again. David Bowie, Meatloaf, and You to be are everything by the Real Thing seem to be staple songs. Please, Please freshening it up a bit and play more variety. The constant pushing of their get yourself rich quick phone in is getting tedious as are the same adverts, again over and over again. Please listen to your listeners and do SOMETHING NOW.
Greatest hits radio! Just dont bother.
Absolute waste of time, they have killed most songs i have loved over the years with the repetitive playlists, seems like they have a five cd collection and can only play them? They ask for the listeners input and you know full well if its not within their repetitive playlist you haven't got a chance in hell,70s? Hardly,80s same (now boring songs)90's???? What a joke,Hardly ever, maybe get one or two over a couple of weeks! Then you get to learn the producer is in his late 30s which could explain a lot.Ive requested songs to be played on the air via phone call and everything ive asked for has been slammed down saying "oh have you got another song you would like that doesn't seem to appear on our five cd collection" we'll that's what it feels like! Stopped listening to it now and just ask my alexa to play my music, and dont get me started on some of the presenters, maybe I will keep that for another review! Do yourself a favour and do your research before you feel your soul leaving your body listening to this junk.
Far too many adverts
Far too many adverts. Yes, I know they have too but they have more that Magic and Smooth.
Can it get any worse
I wrote a review in December 24 and need to write another to see if anyone at the station actually care. It is now the Radio 2 rejects show which has put many local DJ's out of work. We have another starting soon who is taking over the 13.00 - 16.00 show. This was the only show worth listening too and now I will ensure that my devices are switched off at this time. Well done for ruining local radio, you are a disgrace.

I've become quite disillusioned with GHR lately having come here several years ago to get away from the rubbish and politics of radio 2. Lots of my thoughts already given in other reviews.
Where to start, there are a few of the DJ's I do like, Andy Crane, Simon Mayo, Richard Allison to name a couple. But the shows now all seem to follow the exact same format, there's nothing individual about them. I used to like Ken Bruce but not so much now. I'd have to agree that there is too much constant advertising which I understand why, far too much pushing of make me a winner, a seemingly repetitive playlist consisting of the same old songs over and over again. And what to look forward to, Zoe bloody Ball...I don't think so, had enough of her whining opinions when she was at Radio 2. And lets face it, if she'd got the BBC gig's she thought she was a shoe in for she wouldn't have given GHR a second look. Zoe Ball, another nail in GHR coffin.
Awful station
Awful station. Same old, same old on a mind numbing loop over and over. And don’t get me started on Make me a Winner. Encouraging gambling to enrich the station. How the presenters such as Bruce can justify themselves in this encouragement is downright shameful.
This station is getting worse by the…
This station is getting worse by the day - As well as the repetitive playlist, the adverts are getting unbearable.
The ones that wind me up the most are the 'Boots free hearing test' ad (that seems to get played every 10 minutes) where the narrator says 'Your wife asked you to pick up bread, but you thought she said your grandson, 'Fred' - It seems acceptable in adverts these days to portray males as a bit stupid/absent-minded and the female as the clever/smart one and if the ad was vice-versa, the women would certainly be phoning in whinging.
Another irritating ad they play to death is the one about the importance of water, where they play the sound of water dripping from a tap for what seems an eternity before the narrator starts talking in the usual mundane voice.
This station is turning me into an utter hate-filled individual !!!!
Boring, repetitive, monotonous......
The most boring and repetitive radio station on the airwaves, it should be renamed 'ten greatest hits'. Of the thousands of songs from the 70/80/90's GHR repeat the same ten tracks day after day in a seemingly endless loop. The same tracks from ELO and Supertramp get played with monotonous predictability every day, week after week. It's got so bad and so annoying now I've switched off and started listening to BBC Radio 2 again.
How disappointing!
I was really excited when this station started. However, I have become increasingly frustrated at the playlist. Considering the vast amount of fantastic music produced, particularly from 1966 onwards, the relatively small choice of frequently repeated songs causes me to switch stations frequently. In particular, I switch off immediately on hearing:
Jennifer Eccles by the Hollies (their worst ever, and final nail in the coffin for Graham Nash)
Mony Mony (the worst record ever made by Tommy James. How about Crimson & Clover?)
Anything by Manfred Mann (a good band but grossly over-represented here)
Any rubbish cover of a Beatles record when the original could be played (Ob-la-di etc., Got to Get You into my Life, etc.)
I have just moved to Boom Radio. Let's see how that goes.
Two stars for Ken Bruce however - Grace O’Hare is terrible!!!
Two stars for Ken Bruce however, I know in this day and age everyone is ‘inclusive’ but IMO news readers should be clear concise and understandable however why do you think that listening to Grace O’Hare and her sinus blocked up nose is ok, it’s not!!
Yes, she may suffer from ‘sinus issues’ but please be realistic … listening to her read the news is absolutely awful!!!
Rubbish connection spend some money
Why does the station keep loosing connection then say turn your radio on and off that seems to work for everything your paying each month for no adverts how about all that money your getting pour some of it in to getting a stable connection a d while I am here give it a rest about make me a winner we all know its on a Friday and how much you'll us about a 100 times aday
Great music but they have turned great…
Great music but they have turned great DJs such as Simon Mayo and Ken Bruce plus the many bad ones into being salespeople constantly pushing make me a winner several times an hour . Premium listeners shouldn’t have to listen to this so I’m cancelling. It’s not right they are pushing desperate listeners whom obviously can’t afford £2.50 a week every week for years in the hope of changing their lives . Back to Spotify for me .
I actually listen to Greatest Hits but…
I actually listen to Greatest Hits but I am a pensioner and they are moving to a more updated DAB radio and suggest we update if we can't hear them any more. I can't afford to pay £50 for a new radio. Also, I am getting fed up with the constant encouragement to enter their competition, it verges on bullying. Shame on them.
Awfully relative and lacking in variety
Repetitive music . No variety. Over played adverts that drive you insane . Genuinely effecting my mental health at work in a negative way . So much music they could choose from yet they play the same old stuff day in day out . Do your self a favour and avoid this station .
Predictable and Boring…
Greatest Hits attracted a lot of great DJs then hid them behind adverts, competitions, station plugs, jingles and overplayed hits.
