I am 63 and have regularly ordered some beautiful and original pieces from Goose Island ever since first watching Karen’s lives during Lockdown. I am delighted to say that, although I am a good size 16/18, I always find something gorgeous to fit from the lovely Italian voile dresses with matching jumpers through to Indian silk dresses, boho style tops, trousers, skirts (sometimes marked as 14/16 max), and even the odd interesting bag or piece of jewellery from exotic places like Bali. This season I am loving the new Argyll knits in stunning colours and the best part is that the layering which can be achieved with pieces I bought from last year and the year before means that all my clothes are more wearable throughout each season and I feel that nothing in my wardrobe is temporary. The lovely collection of scarves, shoes, boots and bags compliment each style well and there are many pieces of pretty and durable costume jewellery to go with.
Karen has sourced many lovely pieces from Italy, Paris, India and Bali at a good price and excellent quality which I am yet to see in another shop and I have received many compliments on wearing which has increased my confidence a lot as an older woman who is not the perfect 10.
I find myself confidently adding red, royal blue, pink, lemon, bright orange, cream and winter white to what used to be a mainly black and navy wardrobe and realising that I actually am receiving more compliments for some of the brighter colours and, if anything doesn’t fit or if next day you see something even nicer than the one you just ordered, returns are easy too!
I feel that, although I live in Northern Ireland and have never yet managed to get to one of the shops, the “Goslings” are a very welcoming community of ladies who support one another by means of online “friends” groups and we all feel that we have travelled together with Karen through all the ups and downs of daily life and for many lonely or bereaved ladies, those who suffer from serious illnesses etc, this is a company who understand and care about us all not just as clients, but as people too.
