Unacceptable and unprofessional

Golden Key kept my AED 1,000 deposit for almost three months and ignored repeated emails and messages.

When the money was finally returned, they did not refund it to the original payment method. Instead, they sent it by bank transfer, leaving me with only AED 904 because of bank fees.

So after nearly three months of waiting, I received AED 96 less than I had paid.

This handling of customer money is completely unacceptable. I strongly advise others to avoid this company.

My experience with Golden Key Car Rental was excellent in terms of easy communication and quick service. The company offers car rental without insurance, with delivery and pickup at the same time, which made the whole process smooth and convenient.

The staff were polite and professional, and the car was delivered exactly on time. The booking and handover procedures were clear, fast, and hassle-free.

Overall, I highly recommend Golden Key for anyone looking for a comfortable car rental experience, without insurance, with instant delivery and collection, and friendly, straightforward service. 🚗✨

This company is a scam.

No idea why people are leaving bad reviews, i rented 2 cars whilst in dubai and the service was amazing, the cars were outstanding and i received the deposit back after around 23 days… this is incase you get any speeding fines etc.

very good service, communication is very good and if the car has a problem they will come out and fix very helpful.

I hired a car from this company recently and, to be fair, for the price I paid, the vehicle was functional, safe, and fit for purpose. The handover process was straightforward, and the staff member I dealt with was friendly. However, he did prompt me to leave a 5-star review there and then he’d even pre-populated the review for me, which I found inappropriate. I declined.

There were several issues with the service that would prevent me from using them again:
• Lack of Paperwork: After taking a £300 deposit, I wasn’t given a copy of the rental agreement at the time, which didn’t sit well with me from a transparency and trust perspective.
• Hidden Fees: Car park charges weren’t disclosed in the agreement, which felt misleading. You do get charged on pick-up, but not on drop-off, so it may even out but it’s poorly communicated.
• Toll Dispute: I was charged for a toll I believe I had already paid. It was only £12, so not worth the hassle but again, not great from a customer experience point of view.
• Deposit Handling: This was by far the biggest issue. Instead of holding the deposit securely as a PCI pre-authorisation (where the funds remain in your account), they took the full amount outright. It then took nearly 5 weeks to return the money, and I eventually had to initiate a chargeback. The funds were returned, but the process was stressful and unnecessary.

In summary, while the car itself was acceptable, the experience was let down by poor customer practices around transparency, fees, and deposit handling. If they resolve these issues, they could have a decent offering but as it stands, I won’t be using them again.

They will not give you the car you actually rented and will charge you more than what you agreed to pay for the car.

Getting your deposit back is an issue and they WILL NOT return your deposit.

I am booking a car with this company. I am really having a terrible experience because the car is in absolutely rubbish condition, and I always have to call customer service. They don't bother to respond when I go to the office to tell them what happened with the car. The customer service is unacceptable, and their behavior is very poor. I still haven't received my deposit back. I continue sending messages to them, but later they pay the deposit.
Please, please don't book with this rubbish company.

I had a terrible experience with Golden Car Key, and I strongly advise anyone considering their services to steer clear. First and foremost, they charged me twice for the deposit, which was incredibly frustrating. When I reached out to have the extra charge refunded, the process was anything but straightforward.

To make matters worse, it has now been over two months, and they are still holding my initial deposit. Every time I contact them, I receive vague promises that they will "contact their accounts team," but nothing ever gets resolved. This feels unprofessional and sketchy, leaving me with a sour taste about their business practices.

If you value your time and money, avoid Golden Car Key when booking through Booking.com. There are many other reputable car rental companies out there that will treat you with respect and transparency.

Reservei uma carrinha de 9 lugares com 2 meses de antecedência para a semana da passagem de ano. No momento da reserva paguei um sinal e disseram que aquando da chegada ao aeroporto teria que contactar a Rent a Car, que foi o que fiz! Quando cheguei, por volta das 2h da manhã contactei, quando me disseram que não tinha nenhuma carrinha de 9 lugares disponível. Posto isto, não apresentaram qualquer hipótese ou alternativa para o problema e ainda deixaram de me responder!
Escusado será dizer que tive que andar às voltas no aeroporto às 2h da manhã à procura de carros para alugar na semana da passagem de ano quando a oferta já era pouca ou quase nenhuma e o que havia era a preços absurdos!
Não me prestaram qualquer apoio ou assistência, deixaram se me responder às mensagens e nunca mais me atenderam o telemóvel!
Depois de ter feito a minha reclamação por escrito, disseram que me "ofereciam 30% de desconto na minha próxima reserva com eles!" o que só pode ser uma brincadeira porque depois do que aconteceu e da maneira como fui tratada e enganada não faço qualquer intenção de reservar nada com eles!
Atendimento péssimo! Responsabilidade PÉSSIMA! Cuidado com o cliente PÉSSIMO! Confiança NENHUMA! NÃO RECOMENDO!!
P.S. Reservei pela DISCOVER CARS e a Rent a car era a GOLDEN KEY!

Ne jamais louer chez eux !!! J’ai vécu la pire expérience de location de voiture de ma vie avec eux et en plus de ça ils ne rendent pas la caution de 500€. Ils vous inventent des problèmes que le véhicule auraient eu pendant la location alors que tout est faux ! En plus de ça la voiture aurait du m’être livré à l’aéroport mais lorsque je suis arrivé à Dubai personne n’est venu et lorsque je les ai appelé au téléphone personne ne répondait. J’ai du prendre un taxi jusqu’à l’agence pour récupérer le véhicule sauf qu’une fois arrivé à l’agence on me dit que le véhicule que j’avais réservé n’est plus dispo et on me fait attendre 1h pour trouver une solution pour qu’à la fin on me donne une voiture pire qu’une épave! Bref agence à fuir

Rented from them through a car rental marketplace.
After the rental, they charged me for fines, that were sent to me as screenshots on whatsapp.
I did not receive the actual official notification like in any other country, as I requested from the rental company (a forwarded email with the actual fines from the traffic police).
This never happened to me before with any other car rental y any other country.
They did not answer my request, and charged me 240€ on my card without sending a legal and binding proof (plus another 140€ charged previously for the same reason).

es handelt sich um ein Betrüg firma , nach der Autovermietung haben Sie mir extra kosten vom Kredikarte gebucht ohne zufragen, nach Anfrage würde mit geteilt, das ein schaden gibt wissen die aber nicht was. ich hatte video gemacht vorher und nachher also es gab kein schaden. habe die angeschrieben und die video gezeigt. . dann würde entschudligt, und arrgomentiert das auto war nicht sauber. und dafür 631 AED- reiner beturg firma.

I will begin by saying AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Does not even deserve 1 star. Shame there isn’t minus stars.
I rented a car from Golden key on 05/08 for 12 days. After 4 days the air con packed in. It took them over 24hours to replace the vehicle
If you leave a deposit on a Credit Card they do not refund your deposit before your payment is due therefore you will incur interest charge! I have had to foot this bill because they do not return your money in time.
Constantly have to chase them.
They will charge you for using tolls fines etc which is fair as it is stated on the rental agreement but they will give you no invoice or breakdown of the costs. My deposit was around £435 returned £319 no breakdown of where the rest has gone. So be careful you will pay over the odds. Also they charge double the cost of a toll.
This company should not be trading this way they hold on to your deposit and the cars they give will NOT be what you paid for and booked.
I have reported them to the Dubai Economy and Tourism.
I will end by saying AVOID at all costs!!!
They can’t get away with running their business this way and treating visitors and consumers this way. Never again not even for free.

Deposit not returned voluntarily, car was junk and service at the airport lousy. Please rent with an established car rental company and save yourself troubles.

They do not return your security deposit! Scam and avoid at all costs! I will be requesting a charge back from my bank. Hopefully they will be able to do something with regards to the scammers.
