Made a reservation - told the property would have house visits as its up for sale and said it was fine. Cancelled my booking reservation without reason.

Do not rely on this company!

Suspected scam. Having already supplied passport and selfie picture, asked for additional personal details that open guests up to ID theft. Their website lacks any address, contact details, company info, etc, little more than a holding page. Booked through Hotels.com where there was no warning of the ID hoops Ghost puts prospective guests through.

Warning: Avoid Ghosthost – Serious Red Flags

I attempted to book a flat through Ghosthost, but the experience raised multiple serious concerns. After confirming the booking, I received a WhatsApp message from a number that cannot be called, and the official phone number for the company doesn’t exist either — both massive red flags. In the WhatApp message they informed me my payment details had been rejected and asked me to re-enter my card information on a so-called secure page — a highly suspicious request. Thankfully, I cancelled my card before any money was taken.

On further investigation, I discovered that Ghosthost Limited is a newly registered company (March 2025), and it appears to be connected — unofficially — to another company called Stay Beyond, which went into liquidation. There are also reviews suggesting deceptive practices, including a case where a guest was staying in a flat that was also being shown for sale.

This company may be operating under the appearance of legitimacy but shows signs of being highly unprofessional at best, or potentially fraudulent. I strongly recommend avoiding Ghosthost and using more established, verifiable accommodation providers.

This is Staybeyond changing its name to Ghosthosts. Please refer to the previous company name, Staybeyond, on Trustpilot. The damage deposit was not returned on time, and the holding deposit has been held for an extended period. If you do not call, they will not release it. I would not recommend booking this place. The name 'Ghosthosts' seems dodgy and untrustworthy.

This is a scam company that took over Staybeyond in liquidation, which also has a history of not returning people’s deposits and hiding things in the bookingdotcom listings, like the fact that the properties are under sale and that estate agents are going to do viewings during your stay. They operate under a lot of different host names…
