GED.com is a con!

I have purchased the practice test multiple times and never received it. I've lost a lot of money paying for the practice tests that never show up as an option and no customer service available to assist with refunds. Also, two of my children have taken the high school equivalency exam and both say the actual test is absolutely nothing like the practice test and the material covered on the practice test is NEVER on the actual test and vice versa. It's an unrealistic prep tool for the HSE exam, especially math. Don't waste your money on GED.com. It's simply a brand name. You're better off going to you tube and looking up videos on HSE exam prep. I've wasted so much money and my kids have wasted so much time and effort relying on a service that promises positive results only to be duped.

People Can't do the pretest because the…

People Can't do the pretest because the site is BROKEN, People are getting RIPPED off for paying for these tests that DO NOT WORK! No one to Contact about fixing the Problem, or Getting a REFUND! I am seeking others to file a CRIMINAL FRAUD COMPLAINT as this issue has been CONSTANT for a long time!

Tried to take my test

Tried to take my test, on ged.com, and the lady that i had to do my check in wasted my whole check in time bc she says my pictures of my testing area aren’t right, even tho i did them exactly how I’ve done before when i took my previous, it is foul play, they need to work on the people that they have who are sitting back in the house doing the proctors.

GED Testing Website Poor Treatment, Arbitrary Cancellations, and Unjustified Bans

My experience with GED Testing Service (GEDTS) has been abysmal and has arbitrarily derailed my academic progress. After successfully passing three out of four online proctored GED exams (Math, Language Arts, and Science) without any issues or hinderances, my access for the final subject (Social Studies) was abruptly and permanently disabled.
Shortly after scheduling my final exam, I received a generic notification stating: "Your Online GED Test Access Has Been Disabled... GED Testing Service, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disable access... You can continue testing and take the GED Test in-person at a test center."
I contacted staff, who could barely speak English, with indiscernible Indian and Spanish accents. They were incredibly rude, never explaining the reason for banning me from using their proctoring service,
I immediately contacted customer support and emailed policy.violations @ ged.com for an explanation. Both interactions were unhelpful and dismissive. They refused to provide a single specific reason or piece of evidence for this action, simply stating that their decision was final and binding.
This refusal to offer any due process or explanation after I successfully completed the vast majority of my exams online is unfair and frankly, suspicious. GED.com has treated me poorly, essentially making baseless accusations and questioning my legitimate accomplishments. They have created a significant barrier to achieving my educational goals through arbitrary actions and zero transparency.
If you value fairness and transparency, be aware that GEDTS can shut down your progress at any moment without justification. I am now forced to seek intervention from the State Department of Education to resolve this issue and achieve the credentials I have worked hard for. I wish to never encounter ged.com again during my lifetime, as it has made false accusations against me, punished me without cause, and caused me immense stress. I appreciate you listening to my experience. Thank you.

Do not waste ur money

Do not , do not waste ur time , these ppl take your money and if they want to they can cancelled test already taken because they feel wasn’t right ..smh u can’t trust them at all go else where just wasted my money and no explanation at all .. oh yes they felt something wasn’t right with my test or scores either way is a scam do not bother , they do not deserved one star at all ..

I think they are committing fraud…

I think they are committing fraud taking people hard earned money because the proctor literally stopped my test before it even finished launching all I received on my screen was a message saying I had a item not permitted when all I had was my laptop and mouse on my desk top it is Sunday so of course I cannot contact customer service what the message said because they only answer Monday - Friday I was taking my test today because I work all week and do not have time during the week to test this is very messed up and I better get a credit to re-test because I'm not paying again for in error and I would like a supervisor upper management contact as soon as possible because I will be reporting this to the department of education and better business bureau until something is done and please know I stand on business and do not play when it comes to my education or money.

i was assigned an advisor. I messaged and called without any luck. i ended up calling the helpline and they had no idea how to navigate GED.COM?
I will be requesting my money back.

Having to pay for documents / Money Hungry and greedy company

4 years ago my significant other passed the Ged exam, they sent an email to her mother who then printed and kept it safe, It was our fault, she had lost the document, and after searching her emails we could not find the email. We contacted a local representative to advise on what the next step is only to be told that we have to pay to receive the same document that was sent the previous time, surely if you can retrieve the document and resend it to me then the file is available at request?

Needing the document soon we have paid the requested 15 dollars for the new piece of paper.....

I am waiting for feedback from the company.

TERRIBLE_multiple experiences, same opinion

TERRIBLE! On two separate occasions my son was disqualified for reasons out of our control. The challenge isn't that we were disqualified as much as the lack of consistency on what Pearson Vue deems "acceptable". Consistency of decisions and a lack of empathy by Proxy Agents makes immediate challenge resolution nearly impossible. As a business owner myself, I can see numerous issues including a lack of training in their own system. Proxies seam to have NO EXPERIENCE using the consumer side of their own system thus cannot fathom what users may be dealing with in navigating system pitfalls.

First for LA test, per GED.com Pearson Vue requirements . . . we logged in, passed system tests, checked in, showed my sons id (minor), then used my id as parent verification, which was APPROVED by the proxy. After that my son started having technical issues on our end (a background system started itself up automatically). While trying to overcome this hurdle, the proxy was hounding us to "shut down any other apps". I was certainly trying, but his ongoing hounding was also making me nervous and hasty so I couldn't troubleshoot effectively. He said that we needed to disconnect, but that we can start at the beginning for verification when we are ready. We disconnected and I was able to quickly uncover which computer application started itself up, then I uninstalled it from my computer to prevent recurrence. We started over with the entire process again, system tests, id verification for my son, then started my id verification . . . the new proxy noticed that my DL had expired and now wouldnt let my son test! We were disqualified. I was told to take the case number and call customer service, then the system closed. No phone number was provided. We logged back into ged.com and searched however no phone number was available, so I tried their chat system which took me in circles before I was put in a que. After 45 min support still never came!

I immediately ordered a new government issued ID for our next attempt.

Rescheduled test for diff day. During the next test appt, my husband showed his ID and all worked smoothly (his ID is older, but not expired). My son passed his exam.

Next day, we scheduled his next/Math exam, waited for that appt, in the meantime my new government issued ID was delivered.

Math Testing day . . . ran system tests, son provided ID, then I provided my new ID but Pearson Vue system wouldnt authorize. I went in circles with the Proxy Agent who said we needed either a different computer or a different camera. We were using the same computer/camera as the previous successful test without access to an alternative. Why could they authorize during the previous appointment but not this time?! Sounds like a problem between their software and the shiny new government issued ID!!!

This time the Proxy disqualified us, then I had to stop him from hanging up to get a phone number from him. Another 45 minutes on the phone (that customer service rep was super pleasant) and now there is a plan in place for us to submit an ID scan for an override, which could take another 3-5 days. So now we need to rearrange our families busy schedule AGAIN.

My suggestion . . . forgo Pearson Vue and take your GED test in person. Maybe if the pocketbook for the online system is impacted enough, they will need to make some changes.

I think its time to file a classaction…

I think its time to file a classaction lawsuit against ged.com pearsonsvue. This cant be allowed to continue. I dont care about making money they need to be stopped. Send me an email at moto125girlie(at)gmail.com i need 6 more people to get the ball rolling we might be able to sue the department of education also because this a corrupt monopoly . There making millions on people trying to get a better education

Written social studies 4 times

Written social studies 4 times. 3 of the 4 failed with 1 point. I had extra lessons and was 100% sure I was going to pass the 4th time. This place is out to make money, that's all. We are not allowed to see where we have made mistakes in the exam. They give you a mark and you must be happy with it. One big scam!!!!

PRACTICE TESTS WERE NOT REQUIRED when I…

PRACTICE TESTS WERE NOT REQUIRED when I started in 2016-2017. However, in 2023 you must take a practice test before the actual test. The problem is that each costs money and becomes invalid within 60 days if unused. The government should make this practice test-optional or free. Also, NEVER PAY to REGRADE writing an essay. That costs $50, and judges need to be more flexible. GED also offers a complete test program for about $350, but there is a required 6 > hours before each (free) practice test.

Broken Software, GED.com refuses to acknowledge or fix it

Took 3 tests with this site, all 3 worked fine. When I tried to take the last test, the PearsonVue OnVue software had technical difficulties. No one from the online chat forum responded to me after over 4 hours waiting. Was told to reschedule my test for the next day. Was then told that it takes a week for tech support to even look at my support ticket. I have done everything possible to verify that the problem is NOT with my system. PearsonVue support refused to help. Still no response from GED.com chat support after 5 hours.

The worse support from an educational department

My name is Carlos Ortiz. I was scheduled for a science test on 7/14/21 at 6:30 pm. But the site asked me to long in 30 minutes before so we can star on time. I was already login at 5:55 pm. At 6:10 someone on the chat box asked me to log out because he didn’t see me. So I did. Log back in 6:20. I waited until someone name Ingrid. Talk thru my computer. I didn’t get her name at first. So I asked “ sorry I didn’t get your name. Who am I speaking with” she replied on very rude tone. “ Ingrid” she told me that removed my wallet away from me. I did then she said. That I could do the test because my computer head set. I did not see on any where anything that head sets were prohibited. She wouldn’t work with me. I said let my do throughout my computer she said not that I needed to reschedule the test then she put some information on the chat box. ( not telling me ) of course not having anything to write on not even my cell to take a picture. She immediately log out and I couldn’t get the info. Then I try to contact customer service and notice that they closed at 7 pm. Then I knew that having a test T 6:30 pm would have put her past 7:30 pm. She made feel like peace of “nothing “the way she was talking to my.

They kick you out of the test for…

They kick you out of the test for various reasons and tell you to reschedule and start over. When I requested a refund I received this reply, " Our teams are doing everything we can to respond to you in a timely manner. We are currently responding within about 4 business days." Their support line has a terrible connection - the line crackles and you can't hear the recorded messages. When I finally got a live person, her line was so bad I couldn't understand what she was saying. I'm pretty sure she hung up on me when I asked her to repeat herself. Do not use.
