Mis-selling
This store is absolutely delightful, and the staff have been pleasant and polite throughout. However, I’m very disappointed with my recent purchase.
I ordered a coffee table based on the one displayed in the showroom. At the time, I was told the item was out of stock until February, which I was happy to wait for. I was advised that the only difference between the showroom model and the new stock would be the wood finish, as each piece is individual. At no point was it mentioned that the dimensions would be different.
In February, I was sent photos of the newly arrived tables, and dimensions were provided. The measurements shown only indicated slight variations between the new pieces, so I didn’t think to compare them with the original showroom model — that’s on me. I selected the finish I preferred and arranged collection.
When I collected the table, I thought it looked a little smaller, but once unpacked at home it was clear that it was significantly smaller than the one I had ordered based on. I contacted the store immediately to raise my concerns and asked whether I could instead purchase the original showroom piece. I was told this wasn’t possible, although I was offered a refund.
While I appreciate the polite and professional manner of the staff, I do feel the situation amounts to mis-selling. I believed I was purchasing a table the same size as the display model, with only a variation in finish. Clearer communication about the size difference would have prevented this disappointment.
