Horrible shop, go elsewhere, any where but this place
My SUV was damaged in an accident in Feb 2019. I have full coverage Insurance with Safeco. Safeco uses Freebird Body and Paint as their shop. I took my vehicle in to Freebird for an Estimate on March 1st. They gave me a quote of 2025.59 and told me to come in on March 4th to have it repaired. My vehicle is drivable and I use it daily. The owner of Freebird, Shawn King, who did the Estimate told me that Safeco 'might want to total it'. I was upset and went home and called my adjuster. She said that they don't total vehicles for $2025.59 and they would pay to fix it. I did research on the subject and sent Freebird and Safeco a fax/email stating that under no circumstances were they to total my vehicle. It's mine and I am over 65. I also read that Body Shops often give quotes with the intent to total vehicles and sell parts to salvage. I mentioned that in my fax and said that taking my vehicle for salvage without my permission was against the law and taking advantage of a senior citizen for financial gain is against the law, and if I had to get an attorney I would. My adjuster with Safeco assured me that would not happen. I took my vehicle in to Freebird Body and Paint on March 4th I had a rental car lined up with Enterprise. Shawn King at Freebird came out from the back room visibly upset. He told me to "get in his office" in the back. That was scary. I think he intended to hurt me. I told him I wanted to stay out front and leave my car for repairs as discussed. He began freaking out and telling me that 'since I threatened to sue', which I did not he was not fixing my car. He took it on himself to cancel my rental car. He did not call me to cancel the appointment. He did not call my adjuster. He was really scary and I left the business with my car. I reported him to Safeco. I also took my car to another shop and got a quote for $600 less that Freebird gave me. That shop told me my car is not totaled and that the quote that I got from Freebird was way overpriced.
Do not go to this shop. They are scoundrels and will cheat you, total out your car and sell it for scrap, or worse!!
