As a new person to collecting comics

As a new person to collecting comics, I chose Forbidden Planet and so far no issues. Despatch time was good. All comics came in good condition. Many came in a good protective cover. Seriously amazing service.
I have a few more comics on pre-order and I plan to use them as my go-to for comics in the future. Hopefully this good service continues..

Horrific service and comms

Horrific service and comms.
The comms are completely non existent!
They don’t reply to their contact us forms, they don’t reply to emails and even the head office doesn’t answer!!! Delay in despatching items and because of this my son did not get his birthday present. Items are not despatched in a couple of days as stated.

Usually we expect to process, bill and ship orders in 3-4 working days but I can see that this took longer than that for one of your orders which shipped on Friday, and that you requested a cancellation of the other one which was processed earlier today for you.

I can see that we have replied to both of your emails sent to info@forbiddenplanet.com the next working day. note that as outlined in our FAQs we advise not to contact our stores or our office about online orders as they hold no order records or customer information and cannot assist with your enquiry in any way.

Complaint - Unauthorised Transaction

I tried to place an order on 3rd March, following the order being placed I received an email stating there had been an issue with the card payment (their end not mine) and a request for me to try again. I attempted this and once again was told there was an issue with another request to try again. I made customer services aware that I did not want to attempt another payment as there was issues on their end and I felt uneasy and a response was issued to state no payment was taken. I have been notified by my bank today 15th April that a payment has been taken from my account that I have not authorised and I did not allow this company to save my card details. There is no contact telephone number in which to discuss this. This is a fraudulent transaction.

We did experience some problems processing payments with Mastercard, related to the recent integration of a new Merchant-Initiated Authentication (3RI) process by NatWest and Santander. This was resolved last week and so we have been reattempting payment on orders that were not cancelled by customers in the interim, which is why we attempted to charge your outstanding order on the 15th April.

I would advise against ordering online

Ordered 3 books and 3 £1 clearance items totalling £32.60 (£38.60 including the added £6 postage), a few days later I received a confirmation email advising that just 1 book and 2 of the £1 clearance items (totalling £11) had been dispatched - with the postage then still costing £6 on top...

To top it off, only one of the clearance items was then actually delivered, despite being charged for both

Partly my own fault for not reading reviews on here before ordering (as I'd been to the physical store many times with no issues) or else I would have avoided ordering from here. Based on my experience and other reviews I have since read, it is impossible to actually know what really is in stock with this company or what will be delivered - therefore I would avoid.

First time and satisfied

First time I have ordered from Forbidden Planet (I usually go direct to the London shop by train) and I have to say I am very happy with the service. The products I ordered were a late release so I had to wait for despatch. They kept me informed as to when they would be sent and they duly came through, excellent service, will use again.

Charges £14.99 for Royal Mail Tracked 48™ postage for a £350 item.

Royal Mail Tracked 48™ costs around £8 for 2kg-5kg. If a parcel is damaged using said service you can only claim up to £75.

So FP are just overcharging P+P on an already overpriced product.

Charging £14.99 p+p sent via Royal Mail 48 tracked for a £350 item is shocking. End of....

You also state in your T&C that items of high value will be sent via special courier. Which used to be DPD.

Royal Mail Tracked 48 is the cheapest except for Evri. Again it's shocking practice and just goes to show you can't be trusted.

Our postage rates are based on the majority of customers placing orders for multiple items, so postage would be capped at that amount if you ordered one item with a value over £200 or multiple items that have a combined value of that amount and may end up being sent in more than one package based on their size, shape or weight. You can save on shipping costs on pre-orders by placing larger orders for items with similar release dates.

Claiming on damaged parcels is not a factor in calculating shipping costs for your order; in the instance of a damaged item we would usually replace or refund the item regardless of its value.

The Brighton store has some great items its such a shame its full of uninterested rude staff. Quite disgusting to be honest how rude they are.

False Advertisement

I ordered Blood Moon with sprayed edges. Sprayed edges is in the product title and the product image has sprayed edges. I got a standard edition. Very disappointed with the false advertisement. Be careful when ordering from here.

I have used Forbidden Planet for years BUT

I have used Forbidden Planet for years, and they used to be dependable, but in recent years, coinciding with a decision to increas the price of postage, they've also reduced the service you receive. I have had books I pre-ordered sell out before I received a copy. If you ask for clarification you get an unhelpful automatic response. The whole reliability aspect seems to have gone by the wayside and like a lot of companies in the last few years they don't feel any urgent pressure to explain anything to their customers. I would compare them unfavourably with eg Rough Trade, where I buy records frequently, or Norman's, or Reed Comics, at each of which I get a personal response and evidence that somebody is at least trying to resolve my problem, and usually I come away reassured even illuminated by the explanation. All models Forbidden Planet should learn from. Importing limited-number stock in the era of Trump is cut-throat and competitive enough, not to say confusing for the consumer, but Forbidden Planet doesn't seem like an ally in this skirmish. They seem quietly confident their customers will come back come what may. But if I can't even depend on them to fulfil the basic terms of our contract, why would I?

Mail order comics, damp and warped.

Mail order comics have little to no quality control and high postage and already expensive items have had me cut back what I order by about 90% in the last 12 months. Practically everything is warped these days and a comic book company should know better. I have a theory, they don't seal their comic bags nor are the card shippers sealed. Im wondering if days sat around in damp weather (its now March and apparently its rained every day this year so far) is letting the moisture get at the books?

I missed an Omnibus as it went out of…

I missed an Omnibus as it went out of stock within days of release so i clicked on notify me when more stock arrives and with in 2-3 week i got the notification and i ordered it within the hour of receiving the message and it was labeled as in stock still. It is now 6 weeks past the date that they said they were going to get it in. I have sent multiple e-mails asking are they actually getting it and they do not give me a clear answer like they don't have the ability to know. I do not believe this. They offered me the alterante version of the same omnibus and I believe they just wanted to bait and switch customers from the beggining to get rid of that omnibus. For a company to send you an email telling you they are getting it back in they must have been told by the supplier otherwise where does that come from? They have either like i said did this to bait and switch me or lied. There is noway that Marvel or whoever it is are going to say yeah you have more comming or they ask for more and have been told yes you can have it then no stock appears. They have not got enough in stock in to give everyone a copy and are not telling them it hasn't come in or they are liars in the hope of you giving up and just buying the other ones. So i am going to have running late on an order indefinately. It's a joke and you just can not trust this dodgy practice. This method is against trading standards and I have reported them!

Good experience

I ordered a series of comics, which were issued once a month for five months.

Each issue arrived quickly after release and in perfect condition. Good packaging!

DO NOT USE!

DO NOT USE!
Sends damaged issues! Also tells you an item is dispatched when it actually isn’t.
Waiting over a week on new issues to actually be sent out.
A joke of a customer service team, I’ve genuinely never encountered worse service in my life.
