In March 2023 foodforthebrain advised me that they had launched a new platform and at that time they were unable to say when the previous database with all their respondents test data would be made available on the new platform.
Six months down line they invited me to take another test - and guess what - still no migration of user data. So whilst I was able to compare the August results to March (miraculously identical in overall score) I could not compare the results with previous years.
The trouble with well meaning organisations who simply shortcut or ignore the validity of their service/product is that their whole credibility is called into question.
Can you imagine Apple, Microsoft, Google etc launching health apps that consisted of factual cul de sacs whereby the user ended up in 'no no' land? I can't.
For this ludicrous situation we presumably need to address a gentleman by the name of Atul Banerjee on the advisory board who is "a former strategy consultant with 30 years experience working with global companies and start-ups, advising on product and marketing strategies and developing business plans for raising finance."
This person appears to be the only member who has a modicum of knowledge when it comes to presenting a marketing platform to the consumer.
Sadly Atul has clearly never gone through the process of actually doing a mind test on foodforthebrain.org website and experienced the process which undermines the credibility of the proposition.
Here is a synopsis, remembering that I am a registered member.
1. I receive an email suggesting I do a six month check. The link doesn't take me to my account page where I would expect a 'button' which says; "please press to take your 6 monthly test" Oh no, I am a new unknown customer who is asked to register and/or login.
2. No matter where one goes on the site, one is 'battered' with proposals to Accept marketing info/newsletters etc. and join Cognizant. The option? Either agree or cancel. Eh? Cancel surely 'Decline' Of course by electing to cancel I am inviting being inundated with further proposals on every new page I visit.
3. I take the test but I'm treated as a complete newcomer with no previous experience of doing the test (maybe this in itself is a test of my memory). Test Completed I hit the 'result' button and the test page disappears into the ether.
4. I log back into my profile and am able to read the results, but as I've said before unable to compare with previous results - even the first test on the new platform in 2023 isn't accessible other than tracking down the email that had been sent giving me the result - had that been deleted no record apparently exists.
5. I reprint the email I received after my results email. I do this because apparently I have just joined......!

to me
Thank you for taking Food for the Brain’s Cognitive Function Test.
You have just joined our army of citizen health scientists, testing your Cognitive Function and your Dementia Risk Index (DRI). We’ll prompt you every six months to retake the Cognitive Function Test and redo the DRI questionnaire, if you’d like to. This way we can research, and share with you, what works for reducing risk.
You can see your latest results anytime by logging in. (Do make a note of your password somewhere safe). In the green box on the right hand-side below you have options to ‘take the test or retest’ or see ‘your latest results’.
There’s also an option to ‘start COGNITION’ which is the brain upgrade app that helps you dementia-proof your diet and lifestyle, one step at a time.
Wishing you the best of health and happiness,
Kim at The Food for the Brain team
PS. If you have any questions email me at cognitionsupportatfoodforthebrain.org
Somebody with a modicum of intelligence needs to get hold of this inept organisation (charity) and introduce a credible testing system because right now its score is zero.
