Financial Modeling Prep is by far the best source of detailed company specific data out there. We use them in our App in production at scale and the speed and quality of the data is second to none.

they imposed a bandwidth limitation…

they imposed a bandwidth limitation which is so tight, I can't even download once the full set of NYSE stocks history data.
and they freeze my account usage, I cannot do anything, no refund, and keep sending me notification to review my usage.
totally garbage service.

second update:
ha, I got instant feedback here , that's the fastest response I got from FMP so far.
for the API download, the fact was before I reached AMEX, NASDAQ, the limit was already hit and I had to stop. and also in the middle of process, the speed was gradually slowing down.
Of course FMP will ask me to review my config or checking my internet correct, as expected.

and about the bandwidth limit, I joined last year and that time had no such limit (quit and rejoin this time), what do you mean it's been there long time? how long?

and also you mean , starter cannot download full set of US stocks history even just once?
I download just the only one time (and stopped in the middle), it costs me 26G, so even the next level pricing would not allow me to do so as well. rememeber this is just an one time download.

not to mention I also find data is not accurate. I can go on to explain

Our system logs indicate that there were attempts to download extensive datasets not only for NYSE but also for NASDAQ, AMEX, and crypto assets - activity that significantly exceeded the limits of the Starter plan. These safeguards are in place to prevent misuse and ensure consistent service for all users.

Inaccurate Data, No Fix, No Refund

I signed up expecting accurate market data, just like they advertised. Instead, I got results showing over 22,000 stocks from Nasdaq alone which is clearly wrong.

Anyone who works with markets knows Nasdaq doesn’t list anywhere near that number.

I reached out to support multiple times. They replied, but nothing got resolved. I even shared my code, not because I needed help writing it, but to prove that the issue was on their side and the data was inaccurate. Still, they kept insisting everything was fine.

No fix. No explanation. No refund.

All I wanted was for the service to work as described, or at least an honest attempt to fix it. That didn’t happen. If you’re considering this company, just know what you’re walking into a service that doesn’t deliver and a support team that won’t take responsibility.

Based on my experience, I don’t expect a genuine response to this review either probably just another excuse or silence.

A great data provider for 95% of use cases.

A great API for 95% of use cases.

I would rate my experience with FMP a solid 4.5/5. The API is incredibly easy to use, is fast, and covers offers a very broad range of financial data endpoints. For most use cases, it is amazing and i would highly recommend it.

There customer service is also exceptional. Replies are fast and they are very helpful. I had a couple of bugs I was experiencing in some of their endpoints - reached out and they were solved promptly. They also are very flexible and negotiable.

The only complaint I have is their Websocket endpoint is not great (it's pretty bad) and you need at least the premium plan to access it which is disappointing. If you need websocket data i would recommend going elsewhere until they improve it.

For basically every other endpoint, FMP is amazing and I would recommend it overall to anybody who needs a high quality, all-in-one financial data provider.

A Honest Fair Review

A Honest Fair Review
I want to give 5 stars, but can't quite.
I have used them a year. The service is good and uptime reliable. I have found it confusing to find data and solutions. They offer a huge range of products.
This awesome, they have limits and will restrict access if you go over. This is a better practice then others that just ding your credit card if you go over.
Its a very important part people need to consider.

I want to tell people that be careful as historical data if used often will burn through your bandwidth quickly. I wish there was a real time bandwidth usage on the same page as calls and 30 bandwidth.
Makes it hard to monitor.

Pros:
Very accurate real time data.
Straight forward API and usage.
Very Python and other source friendly.
Spreadsheet access via api a huge plus for many.

Cons:
Hard to calculate or test a script bandwidth in real time. ( current new restriction in place means this has to be addressed)
Support is nice and friendly, but response can take awhile.
Bandwidth should be 30GB not 20. and Base account. Second should be 60 not 50 same reasons.
And ultimate should be 120 not 100
If you run 1GB each day on base and weekends you will run out the limit is actually .666MB daily use. Very hard to manage.

In closing they are one of the best APIs out there.
Most id give 1 star. The company restricted access limits enforcing them due to abuse. However they di dis not adjust the Bandwidth.
The calls in each category are manageable.
We all would like more, but if you code right the calls can stay very low. The bandwidth which is hard to see real time is also the most critical limit.
My renew is coming up, I am unsure yet about renewing. Some said was hard to cancel. I quick email and it was handled well. I always cancel after signing up so I can monitor recurring charges so was not a negative.
FMP is good near great. Just a few small things.
It would also be helpful to have a better wat to see what APIs are more data intensive. There is allot of help sections, but finding the information can be daunting. But they are a very solid 4 starts, if other issues are ever address . Id add the extra star. They are so close to it :)

Been using FMP for 3+ years now. They are always quick to address any data issues and the customer support has been top tier. For the level of complexity that comes with managing such large amounts of financial data, FMP really does a great job.

Been using FMP for about 2 years now…

Been using FMP for about 2 years now and and probebly sendt hundreds of tickets with faults i have found. They are so slow putting out numbers for some companys, can go weeks and monts. More than often ESP and Shares are missing. Quaterly revenue and yearly revenue often does not match, same goes for income before tax (yearly and quaterly).

I am looking for a better site, there is WAY to many faults on FMP

!Update!
I follow 300-400 companies, luckely i have a excel sheet contaning 250 cells for each company. I have probebly sendt in tickets on 60-75% of these now in the end of year reporting with errors, and this excludes FMP changing eps, shares ect from previous years out of the blue. This in my opionion is INSANE and not mention the ADR debukle.

If i did not send these reports this would not be fixed and it makes me wonder how many other people sends reports. If i did not have my excel i would not even know that the numbers were wrong. Taking financial decisions "buying stocks" based on FMP´s data is a VERY bad idear.

FMP have no control checks in order: Checking that quaterly numbers add up with yearly numbers. No warnings when quater to quater suddenly is 10 times higher than last. Like Embraer shows a revenue of 13,74B in Q4. While others are around 1,5B this being 2024.

"FMP´s response"
"Embraer S.A. changed its reporting currency from BRL to USD in 2018. We have now corrected this on our end so that financials are displayed in BRL until 2018 and in USD from that point onward."

I dont´t know what 2018 has to do with Q4 2024 to do but.....ok....

I send out that "AMPG" was missing Q4 (Amplitech Group).

So i have to do their job providing the info which i pay for..... So first make a ticket, then provide urls where they can find the info.... But i did not provide it this time and behold, they found it them selfs... some of it.....

Check FMP and AMPG your self

As you can see they are now missing EPS and shares... Ya you need to write another ticket providing the info you are paying to get (PS they might have fixed it now when you check)

If you go to "finchat" you will find it, no tickets needed EPS -0,311 and 12 290 000 shares

You can expect to receive the refund within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your payment method. Additionally, your account has been downgraded effective immediately. I love how you terminated my subscription "tho giving me a refund", because hey... FMP has done sutch a great job with 75% errors in their financial data that they shouldent give "free" time and money back but cut it right off. And hey, now there will be 100s of fault that wont be corrected :D

PS "some of these interactions included threats and unprofessional language"

Telling that i have recorded all the tickets sendt and that i will be making a video about it is not a threat, it´s a fact. "Unprofessional language" I am NOT a professional, i am paying for a service that delivers 25% of it claims being "We provide one of the most accurate financial data available on the market." Yes i get FED UP after 100s of tickets, I AM PAYING FOR THE SERVICE!

But for you guys out there considering FMP to provide you with the financial data, good luck. I hope you have a BIG excel sheet and lots of time to write tickets double check against other sites cause you should not do any decisions based on the numbers in FMP i can tell you that.

For my part i will go over to FINCHAT.

Shithousery Customer Service for Cancelation Request

As someone else recently mentioned, Financial Modelling Prep is awfully disgusting when it comes to cancelling their subscription. They have a well thought out plan in order to maximise their profits from the customers by always adding one year extra on the subscription (if you initially signed up for that). I had been a customer for more than a year, initially without any problems. I had been in contact with their customer service previously for general questions about the service and the API and I got decent support.

But when I one day decided to actually cancel the subscription, the story turned out to be very different. I initially contacted them through Facebook Messenger and filed a cancelation request. They read the message but decided to ignore me. I contacted them throughout multiple channels (mail + Facebook + Twitter (X) + online form) but without any response whatsoever. They totally ghosted me. In fact, they ghosted me for an entire YEAR!

The WORST part is yet to come - when it was time for them to charge my yearly subscription fee it wasn't possible, due to the fact that my bank card which I had connected their service to, had expired. Then, they have the audacity to contact me one year later by email and tell me that I have an outstanding invoice to pay. No shame at all.

Eventually they cancelled the subscription after I replied to their email regarding the missed payment and replied with some exquisitely chosen words. I was fortunate enough that my card expired, but I eventually ended up paying for one extra year without any usage. This was obviously all planned in the beginning, from their side. I would suggest looking into other data providers. They are really disgusting.

Worse customer service

I have been a customer for FMP for about 2 years. The service was ok but I had a very bad experience cancelling my subscription. The process for cancellation was not clear and I made the mistake of subscribing to their highest level ($1000/year). The process did not asked me for a confirmation and they charge my credit card right away. I contacted them right away to cancel the transaction. They took a few days before answering and I was never able to get a refund. They said that their do not support refund based on their terms of service.

shockingly bad data

I subscribed to use their earnings data and I was shocked to see that revenue for ticker AA (Alcoa Corporation) is negative for 3rd quarter 2024. Apparently, the company had negative revenue of 5.43 billion USD (in reality it's ~2.9 bio USD). I find it quite shocking that a company providing financial data doesn't even run sanity checks on their tables. EPS data was also incorrect for numerous tickers. Nobody from the chat comes back with any explanation. Stay away.

Bad data

Bad data, they do not deliver correct data as promised. they say prices are updated "Realtime" but it takes up to 8 hours for end of day prices to update sometimes. I have also found errors in historical data. It´s a shame because otherwise it´s a good service.

No real time data

Their website reads "real time data", so I tried their press release API. Funny enough, it has a delay of 6–10 minutes. I asked the customer support: I guess real time data means it's normal to have a 10-minute delay.

I asked for a refund, because that's just not what was advertised on their website. Of course, no refunds.
