Between November 2025 and February 2026, I was manipulated by a supposed "friend" into investing my life savings through Coinbase and Trust Wallet, only to be met with relentless extortion when I attempted to withdraw my funds.
After seeing what I believed were successful investment returns, I requested a withdrawal. On January 15th, 2026, I received an email from an address claiming to be Fetch Ai support. They stated my account was "flagged for risk" and demanded a $28,000 margin fee to unfreeze the account.
Desperate to save my investment, I took out a personal loan to pay this. However, immediately after payment, they moved the goalposts. I received a second demand for an additional $41,000, labeled as "liquid taxes," with a deadline of March 5th. They threatened me with criminal prosecution if I did not pay this second amount.
The Investigation
I eventually contacted a customer representative from Trust Wallet, who confirmed that I had been scammed. He informed me that legitimate platforms never demand "tax fees" or "unfreezing fees" upfront via wire transfer to release your own capital. I have since blocked the "friend" involved and filed formal reports with:

Fetch Ai feels less like a financial service and more like a scam when they hold your assets during a literal war zone escape. My daily rhythm and mental health are completely shattered by this stress.
