My family joined the Enlightium family…
My family joined the Enlightium family during the pandemic. Both of my kids enjoyed the home-schooling experience during this time. My older spent 2 1/2 years of his high school experience with the school. He enjoyed being able to set his own schedule (within reason of course). My younger is still with the school. He absolutely loved this experience. The only reason we may not continue is that my highschooler is graduating and my younger one needs to get back to daily interaction with his peers. However, as a parent, I have been extremely pleased with the level of learning my kids have received. I also loved the flexibility of their schedules. If I had been aware of this type of homeschooling sooner, we may have done it way earlier!! (My kids were previously enrolled in a private Christian school - so the religious aspect was definitely a plus!)

Big learning curve
We didn’t feel like my daughter was prepped enough to understand how to use the system. (And yes she attended orientation.)
Also, I felt I wasn’t fully aware at just how much my daughter was going to have to teach herself with our tier of the plan. We’ve had issues with teachers not responding to her questions and the delay in responses affecting her being able to move forward with other lessons.

Flexibility at its best.
I love the flexibility of the classes. The administration and teachers are very helpful, fair, and professional. Classes can be done on student's time and assignments for the week are all due by Sunday at 12am pst. I would highly recommend having your child attend this Christian based school.

Definitely geared towards the student that is average/above average. …
Definitely geared towards the student not previously homeschooled. Lots of online learning and very little hands on, but the curriculum is solid (in fact we as parents with Doctorate degrees find ourselves learning something new when we help our child). The program is great for an average to above average student. This program would be extremely difficult for a student with learning disabilities.

However, our team also has in place accommodations for students who struggle in one more course, as well as students who have health or learning impairments. Accommodations are catered to the student and include adjustments to the curriculum, how projects can be submitted, and various supportive tools and resources.

Enlightium Academy is great
Enlightium Academy is great! I just wish there were a little more teacher involvement with what we pay. It is waaaay less than private school, but the camera always has to be off during lessons which doesn't do much for the teacher keeping an eye on the kids or for interaction during the lesson.

Our team is sorry to hear that your family did not have a great experience this school year, and there are a few vital aspects that are worth noting for any other family that is considering enrolling at Enlightium Academy.
The standard practice of private schools is to require the tuition to be paid in full at the time of enrollment and to not provide a refund if a family chooses to withdraw mid-year. This is due to schools’ enrollment numbers dictating the need to hire staff and faculty at the start of the year.
In contrast, Enlightium does provide a 14-day money-back guarantee for any family who decides that Enlightium is not the best fit for their family and contacts the team within 14 days of courses being assigned, as well as partial withdrawal refunds for families who withdraw within the first 90 days of enrollment.
The Enlightium team ensures that the information we provide is clear and transparent in our communication and website. Additionally, the terms are provided to families while filling out the enrollment and re-enrollment forms. Details of withdrawal are linked to within the form, and a box next to that step must be checked in order to proceed with enrollment and re-enrollment. We encourage families to reach out to the Enlightium team if they have questions about those terms. We had a child enrolled and before the start date had to withdraw her from the program because of medical issues. Once we were past those, Enlightium made the re-enrollment process so quick and easy and she was able to get started right away.

Complicated system
It’s hard to get a hold of people. As a new family and not familiar with the system a few months pass before someone actually got in touch with us. Our child’s grade significantly dropped due to lack of understanding the system. On many occasions the student was denied access to zoom meetings which are lead by the teachers.

First, our team would like to address the concern about your student being denied access to Zoom meetings. Based on emails our team has received, it appears that your home computer issues might be the primary cause of lost communication. The Enlightium team has been in continual contact with your family to assist with resolving them, per our records.
Concerning slow responses from staff and faculty, our investigation determined that your student’s teachers, counselor, and members of the Intervention Team have all proactively and repeatedly reached out to your household via email, phone calls, and text messages to assist with the technical issues and your student’s grades and progress. Our records indicate that the Enlightium team’s efforts have been ongoing for several months and that communication has often been cut short, such as dropped calls. Our notes also indicate that invitations to meetings are regularly provided, but that the student frequently does not join. This could be due to technical issues, time zone differences, or other matters.
Our team recommends that either parent review and respond to emails, as that may be a more consistently effective channel of communication. Please also look for and respond to any correspondence from your student's counselor concerning a waiver of the summer school extension fee, as that offer has been extended due to ongoing technical issues.
