Studying for Step1 is like going to the mountains Jesus style to pray for 40 days... I was petrified...

Here is what I gained through Elite medical Prep:
1. High yield contents (of course)
2. Learning to take the exam -- I'm bad at taking the standardized exams. But at the end of all this, I felt comfortable with question styles, languages and could even predict the answers they were looking for. I learned to think like the exam makers, instead of exam suckers.
3. Learning my strengths and weaknesses -- I'm a very fast thinker but this also means I make a lot of careless mistakes. So, they helped me develop my own method of taking the exams. And my scores reflected this--- went from 219 to 244.
4. Spiritual guidance -- they will hold your virtual hand, and give you virtual hugs whenever you are in need. Trust me, you need a lot of those.

Preparing for STEP1 was a really stressful endeavor and I'm really glad I reached out to Elite Medical Prep. I studied on my own before I hit a mental roadblock, and they were able to connect me with Amy, who's an incredibly experienced tutor. Over a few weeks, I learned a lot of testing strategies & ways of breaking down USMLE problems I wouldn't have otherwise been able to do by going through popular study aides. I found the personnel at EMP super responsive, and really professional. Their help was critically important in building up the confidence I needed to take the STEP1 exam.

For the group tutoring I received, I was very pleased.

Martin is a supreme tutor. He is not only very knowledgeable but also emotionally intelligent; this helped me feel comfortable discussing whatever was a concern for me regarding Step 1. This combination is rare and hard to find in a tutor. I also appreciated that he works with your schedule, and allowed me to choose what I’d like to cover in each session. He is always open to feedback as well. I really can not recommend Martin enough - he is the man!

Amy is fantastic! She is patient and explains things in a very clear, concise manner. I especially like that she makes concrete plans according to my progress, with specific goals and quizzes me often. Ended up scoring well on Step 2 CK!

Furthermore, when I began to study for STEP2 I was able to take all the skills that I had learned from studying for STEP1 with Elite Medical Prep and I achieved a score in the top quartile of scores and I credit that score directly to the work I did when I studied for STEP1

I think they offer a great product overall. The tutor I had was extremely knowledgeable and I believe she helped me a lot. My issue wasn't self-motivation, although if that is your problem a specialized tutor like this could help. My issue was more seeing the larger picture and connecting the dots between presentation-> diagnosis and whatever it was they were asking be it histo, adverse events etc. Getting quizzed and asked to explain your reasoning is ALWAYS a good way to illustrate your understanding or lack of it. Additionally its useful to have someone to hold you accountable for your study schedule (as well as help you plan it).

What holds me back from giving it a full 5/5 review is just the price. Don't get me wrong on two counts: 1) they are no more expensive than most 1:1 STEP tutors you'll find and 2) med school is really expensive so paying a few thousand extra for "the most important test of your life" does seem like a drop in the bucket... but still ~$200/hr can feel like a ripoff if the experience is not adding that value back into your studying/results. For me it was worth it, but I understand for others it may be an unnecessary expense, especially when what they offer you can find elsewhere in a dedicated study buddy and all the top touted resources.

Elite Medical Prep was very helpful in improving my USMLE Step 1 score. I was struggling to get my score up on my own and saw a significant jump with the help of my tutor. My wonderful tutor reviewed high yield material with me, suggested useful ways for me to adjust my study techniques and manage my time. She taught me the best approach to answering questions, and most importantly, reviewing the questions I got wrong. Finally, she motivated me to keep going and pushed me at times when I wanted to give up!

They held group sessions for our class for Step 1 and Step 2 and I am happy to recommend their Step prep services! I used Elite Medical Prep to prepare for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2. The process of getting set up with a personal tutor, paying, and meeting up with my tutor through google chats was seamless and professional. My personal tutor was flexible, knowledgeable, and always had a positive attitude. She was extremely patient with me, and constantly encouraged me to get outside of my comfort zone by implementing new test-taking strategies. I had a great experience with this company, and with the help of my tutor I was pleased with my exam performance.

My tutor, Anup, was great for me. He did an excellent job of really focusing on my weaknesses and also my preferred ways of learning. I really felt like he took the time to look at my previous results and geared my studies toward the information gained from those. He was very encouraging which was great for me but also was honest when he needed to be. He was also willing to try different things in our sessions together. We did cases, UWorld, quick review of important points in FA, etc. I worked with Anup for Step 1, 3rd year rotation exams, and Step 2 CK and CS. I wish I would have started working with EMP during my first two years of medical school. I would highly recommend the company.
