web site is the worst I have ever experienced, the design is clunky and awkward with major logging on issues. They have implemented an additional security measure that is a virtual castle wall, just to log on and view the status on one's account. Telephone 'help' I received was from a lady who knew nothing about the site and gave totally untrue , and technically ignorant, responses to my query. A not fit for purpose piece of junk.

On Thurs, 23.04.26 at 9.40pm, when I returned home, I phoned eryc emergency to report and have a repair ASAP a flat block communal lighting system. The main front and rear entrance lights were not on and neither was the communal stairwell lighting; the emergency sickly, faint green light was on yet it was poor. I reported the matter as urgent; it was a Thurs and within the flat block there are at least three who 'enjoy a drink'. By 9.00pm it's quite dark and those who 'enjoy a drink' could have had stairwell accidents

On Frid, 24.04.26 at 9.30pm I returned to the flat block and the lights had NOT been repaired. Again, I phoned eryc emergency and told that the woman with whom I spoke 24 hours earlier had NOT reported it as urgent! Fortunately, I record ALL phone calls with utility providers and in particular the quite useless eryc council who lie; I'm sure other councils do likewise.

This council, like ALL other councils lie and cheat. The woman with whom I spoke had failed to report the non-lighting as urgent.

Councils want their communities to be at logger heads with each other. They certainly don't want a community spirit as that means people talk, discuss, and band together. Councils want people isolated, for they're easier to control and manipulate.

The East Riding council are beyond vile they are bend and carpet shall I tell you why one year ago I was beaten up by an alcoholic while her husband also one because I refused to keep her dirty secret any more she was getting me to hide all the post and all her parcels she also lied about why she gave the post people permutation to put it in my box but I wasn’t happy I felt bullied and I didn’t feel able to say no but that day I told her no more they invited me in and she beat me while he watched the police came and did nothing and for over a year did nothing I overdosed and was critical placed in a coma in icu hull royal a nd I’ve suffered so much from then the council unbeknown to me had taken her side the housing officer Mr James Jonson didn’t and wouldn’t help or come out to see me Nor would anyone else I was sectioned dragged from my home 2 weeks after the over dose abused in both units in hull and after being in there for 5 days I was kicked out with no support at all intact they took every thing away from me they took the side of a bully a racist couple who beat me up Humberside police are worse than the met and that’s saying something every time I rand for help they rand them upstairs from me and leaked every thing back to them being the coppers knacks gets you everywhere your protected living in orchard drive Hessle my whole life has been leaked all personal private stuff medical stuff has been kraken to them via Hessle and Halton price mental health team baring in mind in over a year I’ve had them 3/4 times for 15 mins when you needed support they didn’t give a toss they don’t give a dam about anyone there’s no wonder people are committing suicide and taking the hardest decision as they feel there’s no way out I’m 5”9 and I’ve never ever done anything like this just a split second I wanted to die and I did twice and they brought me back back to this hell penny Saunders and Robert Saunders think they own the whole of orchard drive a few months ago I heard her on the phone to a kid I gave birth to Rebekka Louise Taylor 34 years old I’ve seen her twice and haven’t set eyes on her in about 10/15 years I don’t like her she’s dangerous and she lies so so bad she draws others into her web and make others lie for her a lot of her ex friends have said some terrible stuff that she’s said about me I could name each and ever one but I won’t out of respect for them she has teamed up with penny and Rob Saunders and other tennants and East Riding and has caused the most upsetting pain anyone could go through she has come up with this thing that I have fictitious illness I think she is the devil I suffer from frbto I have osteo pins osteo patrons all the tests have been done my bones are so thin and 2 consultants one from bypass and one from Grimsby hospital were shocked at how thin they were ex rays also confirmed auteurs in the shoulders and hips and other places then I ended up being told I had really high collestr and a fatty liver I was 7 stone to they said it was hereditary then I got skin cancer Basel sarcoma between my eyes and had Surgury and a skin graft I have heart tablet and aspirin and gtn spray I also have collitis which has to be the worst ever I have t eaten this is my 6 th year I’ve been on complan then stopped it a year ago I have water lucazade and sometimes latter which sets the collitis off so I have one a week if that But oh no this daughter and the Saunders and other tennants have set about this crazy theiry and is destroying my life so they thought it was clever to butg all my flat they are watching me in every room even the bathroom they live at no 20 I Luce at 16 how can this be right all the tennants and all their friends and family see everything so I thought I’d name and shame fathered more to this but I’ll write as I go along and post it’s discusting and an act of violation and perverted I can’t even go to the loo or do anything they should be arrested ……..

There are some really helpful people that work at the Bridlington Council Office. I am a vulnerable adult and am nervous going there. My Landlady is selling her property so me and my beautiful dog have been given a Section 21. My Support Worker went with me to talk to someone about finding a house. The lady stood by the stairs wouldn't acknowledge me. She would only dignify my presence when forced to and just focused on my Support Worker. It brought up horrible emotions of when I was being mistreated in the past because I would never retaliate. I am dreading going back there incase it happens again

Wouldnt even give this shower of shit a 1* review. The council tax department are absolutely useless. After sending letters, emails, copies of payments the vile department think they are above people, they are right and point blank refuse to put customers first. So easy isnt it to just send bailiffs round. Do you actually know the trauma and stress you are putting people through ????? Bloody shamefull!!!

East Riding of Yorkshire council are causing myself and my husband so much stress. We have got in a mess with council tax and they have gone for an attatchment of earnings …. Which we can’t afford the % that would be deducted- it would cause us hardship and increased anxiety and stress. We have made an offer to pay off this debt but they have declined this. I have raised a complaint and are now at stage two of the process. We have made them aware how badly we both suffer with anxiety but that we are also dealing with a personal trauma/stress at the moment too… so we really don’t need anymore.

Anyone feeling aggrieved that they got a parking ticket from East Riding Council feel free to challenge. They claim to be bound by Transparency but in reality that is certainly what they are not. Traffic Wardens sometimes make mistakes but when this is shown up to them as evidence, they just issue a cover up letter in denial.

I’ve made two calls for two separate issues to East Roding of Yorkshire Council. The customer service was excellent both times.

I’ve just recently bought a house and moved into the East Riding of Yorkshire Council area. However, although I’d already set my account up online for council tax a few months ago, I was having persistent issues logging in and it was asking me to re-register, each time I tried this, it just locked me out. I called and spoke to someone today who advised me on what to do, it seems that I needed to use a different browser, so switched from Safari to Google and that worked a dream.

I made a second call as once I’d logged back into my account, I could see that my original direct debit that I set up hadn’t registered and my bills were around £100 a month more than expected because of this. I called again and spoke to another lovely adviser who explained it to me, she has made adjustments to lower my direct debit payments and make them more manageable. In addition to this, she gave me some further advice that was extremely helpful!

It was a pleasure to speak to the team both times and they were both incredibly helping in resolving my queries. I was a little anxious about calling as my previous council were difficult at times. So it was a pleasure to speak with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and have such positive outcomes.

The 'self service' on line system is unbelievably limited. They have even disabled the messenger service as they can't cope with the vol of messages. I submitted a request. Heard NOTHING in over a month. Sent emails requesting some sort of acknowledgement of the form/emails. Heard Nothing! Had to resort to ringing them instead. 'It's in hand' that's it! I originally sent my inquiry in. APRIL.... end of July 'it's in hand' Yet my husband can do everything with his NEST pension on line. Enquiries are
IMMEDIATE with updates & actions within days!
Get with the 21st century & if you have 1 of these pensions. Give them about 1 years warning for any enquiries! Customer service is extremely lacking alongside the outdated systems. Which the poor staff have to manage.

How can the ERYC improve? Well if this council was a football team, they would be facing relegation, selling off ever player in a fire sale and the chairman would have tried to burn the ground down for the insurance money.

In all seriousness, it's hard to rate your experience because there isn't one. I mean you shouldn't contact them, even if you need something because all you're doing is raising your own blood pressure.

Do you want a bin emptying on time and consistently? Good luck.
Do you want to apply a student discount to your council tax bill? Buckle up for a bumpy ride.
Reporting some fly tipping? The first question you will be asked is, was it you?
Missed bin collection? Set your watches for the duration of a lengthy armed conflict.

I mean I pity the poor people who must approach this nest of incompetents with anything verging on a serious issue. There is an absurd amount of them earning £200k plus, to do what I don't know because there is scant evidence of anything in my town. Unless there is an election, then they are here all smiles and glad-handing.

My town pays one of the highest band A rates in the country and the return is laughable.

If you call them with an issue (after 30 minutes of the automated call holder trying to foist you off onto the website.) There is seldom a plan, never any joined up thinking or pro-active behaviour. Just a frustrating slog that turns into a screaming match until they finally get round to doing whatever simple task you need them to do.

I'm sure there are some nice people working for them that do a bang-up job, especially if you have a Beverley postcode. Good luck finding them.

The one place where this council excels is comedy, especially farce. Just phone them up ask for something simple sit back and enjoy the (very long) circus that will follow.

We recently had a number of queries relating to Rates, Bus passes and other items and went to the Goole Library where a Council Office is temporarily located. We met Joanne who was great! She was polite and knowledgeable and addressed each of our concerns individually in a short time. Congratulations Council on such a great Team Member. Before we left the Library, we met David, a Staff Member who was also extremely helpful and encouraging about Library use. He was pleasant and gave us a lot of information about accessing the best of the Library resources. Thank you to both.

I suffered with depression and anxiety disorder following intrusive thoughts and couldn't work for a whole year, falling behind on council tax, basically I was bullied by the council and the bailiffs putting me into crippling debt and financial crisis, unable to pay my rent and bills. I was unable to receive any income support due to the fact my husband was working and they didn't class my mental health as a disability.. my husband earned enough money just to cover council tax debt or rent. the council tax took advantage of our situation piling on-extra debt.... I never thought council tax was really a bad thing until that moment in my life, how I understand how some situations can really turn the tables for people.. I have now learnt one valuable lesson that the council tax is one massive big fraud corporation taking excessive amounts of money from the poor and vulnerable.
I see it as a very negative thing now.
Because of how council tax treated our situation Making it so stressful and scary and putting so much pressure on us to pay everything upfront when fell behind got with council tax, our other bills And credit card deb also suffered immensely due to how council tax treated us.
Which got my husband blacklisted We struggled for a very long time afterwards and never really recovered completely. We were treated like animals by the council. There was a woman that came to see us that worked with corporation that tried to help his minimise the council tax payments into a more reasonable amount but the amount was still very crippling to our financial situation and it was basically rather pay council tax than our of the bills and suffer the consequences.
There’s had a very negative effect on me recovering for my mental health, forcing me to go back into work early when I wasn’t prepared already, which had an even worse effect on my mental health. And on my relationship, everything fell apart.
This review with some a couple of years ago but I had to put that it was recent otherwise they wouldn’t have allowed me to put this with review.
But here is my most recent up-to-date review regarding council tax. My husband missed a couple of payments due to the fact he was struggling with his self-employed job and had to go on universal credit. Council tax thought it would be a really good idea to just put a straight to bullying tactics threatening to take us to court, after three months luckily we was able to pay the amount upfront this time but quite frankly the way they treat people is appalling it makes no sense if somebody is in financial difficulty to put them even further in financial difficulty and to put pressure on them when they do not have the capacity to create that amount of money, it makes no sense except they love to bully the poor and vulnerable

Actually the worst council in the UK and really needs to be investigated!!!

Took a year to band my house then had the cheek to send me a backdated council tax bill on top of the current years bill. As a single mum I was and still am really really struggling financially…. No help from ERYC at all… if your behind they take you to court asap and then have a attachment of earnings out on your wage over Nov/Dec/Jan, you know the time when people are really struggling and don’t need that kind of negativity in their lives.

I have £1600 a month coming in and £2300 trying to go out with £500 of that going to ERYC or they are sending the bailiffs round…. This would be perfect if I actually had carpets and furniture in my house for them to take instead I’ve now fallen behind on other household bills… my kids are going cold but hey as long at the chair person get her £100,000 bonus/wage a year who the flip cares!!!! Not ERYC anyway!!! Vile people!!!! Vile council!!!

They need to seriously be investigated and retrained to help and support people when they are suffering and begging for help not threatening them!!!

I find the total lack of response to my report about a public right of way issue disturbing. I emailed a public right of way official 3 months ago about vegetation overgrowth adjacent to my property, causing obstruction to users of Jack Taylor Lane as well as damage to my property, with no response. I sent a request again online about the same issue with zero response. When I called to follow up, the call centre advisor went to speak to the grounds team and they said they’ve been ‘too busy’ to reply. So I sent a feedback complaint 2 weeks ago. Again no response. Do they really think this is acceptable?

Well what can I say, this has to be one of the worst councils I have had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with. If you need any assistance from EA don’t waste your time, they will tell you that you need to record any issues but won’t deal with them, they have no equipment to monitor anything, minor of hours service the list is endless. Secondly planning enforcement, I have never in my life time experienced such incompetence to this level, be prepared to fight all the way, it is the only way to get justice!

Unfairly sacks workers who legitimately express views about extremist ideology imposed on workers by the council.
