Their consistent rectangular section provides a practical horizontal support for fence boards, picket pales and other timber components. I used these to hold and support some decking boards for a step. Very sturdy pieces of wood that are able to withstand the weight of fully grown men. No splintering or breaking when screwing chunky, 15cm long hex timber screws in.
