I have the original version of this on my wife's bike and just bought the new one for me. Its far more sturdy and sits further back making carrying rear ortlib panniers easier with no heal strike issues. Looks good in black too. Will be upgrading wife’s bike to new one before our next 4 month trip.

Thanks for the review — really glad you’re noticing the improvements. The updated version was designed to be sturdier and to sit a little further back, so it’s great to hear it’s making rear Ortlieb panniers easier to run without heel strike. And agreed, the black finish looks sharp.
