At DOR-2-DOR, we do, of course, respect your right not to have unaddressed material through your letterbox. However, these can sometimes be missed by our or any delivery company, so we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you.

May we please take this opportunity to give you some vital information about what we do and our industry.

The European Union and the UK government want to see paper going into landfill reduced, and recycling increased and are keen for effective systems to be put in place to reduce the number of unwanted leaflets inserted in magazines sold at your local newsagents and leaflets and other material that's posted through your letterbox reduced and minimised.

With door drops, the main logistical problem is making sure our Post Person doesn't put the leaflet through the letterbox of the homes that don't want it. This may seem a simple problem to overcome; however, in practice, there are issues. We give our Post People a map of the delivery area showing streets for the drop area, and the deliverer happily goes on their round. The delivery process is entirely mechanical and automatic, and they sometimes have headphones on. If there is a notice by the letterbox, our Post Person may miss it and push the unwanted leaflet through the letterbox.

We use the recommended method from the Data & Marketing Association, which is to give the deliverer a list of addresses not to deliverer to, and we mark it on the map that they are following. This works well, but sometimes if the Post Person loses concentration for one reason or another, unwanted letterboxes can still get posted.

Now I guess you might say, well, why does junk mail have to exist at all? Why can't we ban it? The truth is it works, and over 90% of the population don't really mind getting the latest Pizza menu from their local restaurant or a special offer from a fitness club, or a message from a garden maintenance man plying his trade. The fact is that it works, and it especially works for local businesses.

It's a relatively low cost, so it is helping the local business community and creates jobs. More people working means more taxes collected, resulting in better hospitals and schools, infrastructure and social services etc. In fact, the DMA statistics show that the direct marketing industry injects over £45 billion annually into the national economy, and that's a lot of schools and hospitals etc. So it's a little bit of junk mail that perhaps you don't want can do a lot of good for many people.

Finally, some facts regarding paper and trees. Two Sides the print industry voice tells us that 94.4% of the paper we use comes from European forests and that these forests are growing by an area the size of Greece every year, that's 1.5 million football fields or four times the area of greater London and paper can easily be recycled. More trees for paper means less CO2, so it's positively affecting the environment.

More importantly, the environmental impact of electronic communication cannot be ignored. - The ICT industry accounts for approximately 2% of global emissions. Annually Global Cloud computing demands twice as much electricity as the entire United Kingdom. 9 million tonnes of e-waste from goods such as mobile phones, laptops and tablets is generated.

Print and paper can be a sustainable way to communicate; many consumers still value it, including the younger generations.

We apologies for any inconvenience you have experienced.

Ironic leaflet company

Irony: A leaflet dropped through a door by a leaflet dropping company advertising leaflet dropping services to a house with a large sign that says "no leaflets".

If only the people doing the drops could use their eyes and perhaps not trample over the grass either...

Slave labour.

Slave labour.
Mind you this is not unique to this company but almost all leaflet distribution companies ( i have worked for several and done my research on what the others pay).
They classify us workers as 'self employed' so they can avoid paying us a legal hourly minimum wage, holiday pay, sick pay etc.
Then pay us wages for every 1000 houses and often it amounts to less than the legal minimum wage.
They then play further games with us to reduce our wages even further (not transferring the correct amount when paying, reducing the number of houses on our maps to shave off even more money from us etc).
Luckily i know there is a God and he will deal with all these greedy slave driving employers very soon.
(Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the LORD Almighty- James 5:4)
The only positive is the exercise and fresh air.

Update to Jeffs reply:
The vast majority of distributors i have come across (and spoken to), are migrants from so called '3rd world countries', who are worked extremely hard, for peanuts.
I would expect positive reviews from the clients, as they dont get the short end of the stick.
As for the 'positive' reviews, from so called 'distributors', i would not be surprised if many of them are management, their family and friends.

Dear Ti,
Thank you for your comments. However with the greatest respect I think you are wrong. We are a franchise-operated company and we have thousands of Post-people™ working for us across our network which includes nearly 70 branches in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The work is flexible and regularly available but no-one is required to take a job every week. It's casual work that fits into our Post-Peoples lives who are mainly retired and semi retired ladies and gentlemen who have responded to our leaflet Get Paid to Keep Fit™. We give retired, semi retired people and mothers and fathers who have time on their hands during the day the opportunity to get out of the house for some fresh air and worthwhile exercise. We are not exploiting anyone. If you search on here you can see many testimonials from our wonderful Post-people™ who love the work and love the opportunity we have given them.

One of the problems in society today is that we don't exercise enough and delivering leaflets is an excellent way to walk a few miles and get thousands of steps on your step counter and at the same time earn some money towards another holiday or or something special for the kids or the grandkids. DOR-2-DOR is the number one leaflet distribution company in the UK, print media can be recycled over and over so its the greenest way for local businesses to market themselves and find customers and win market share. If anyone reading this would be interested to become a Post-Person™ with DOR-2-DOR™ please feel free to visit the webpage www.dor2dor.co.uk/jobs for full information and the application form.
Yours sincerely

Being a post person with Dor 2 Dor is…

Being a post person with Dor 2 Dor is an ideal retirement job if you need something to fill your days, need a little exercise, but don't need the money. It gives me a reason to set the alarm and get up in the morning. Delivering 500 - 1000 leaflets per week pays gross roughly between £150 - £200 per month and gives me either one very full day's work, or two / three etc. much shorter and much easier day's work. It's as flexible as you want as each week's work is a separate contract on a self employed basis, so you have complete control and say over working hours / holidays etc. and you can decide how much or little work you take on each week. I wouldn't do this job if you're desperate for money, but you do get paid very fairly for the work you do. Well pleased me!

Too early to deliver Junk Mail

Questionable characters that are delivering junk leaflets at 655am that woke the whole house who are all medical professionals and only got to bed 4 hours before this time is beyond ridiculous

Thanks for the informative reply, this unfortunately rambles on with weak arguments about the sustainability / enviromental benefits !! of junk mail but completely misses the point that you woke a whole house of essential medical works up before 7am with a useless bunch of worthless leaflets that went straight into the recycle bin which no doubt you will see as a benefit to your company that you encourage recycling !!

Bad service at Taunton

My company paid Dor 2 Dor in Taunton upfront to deliver leaflets to all postcodes in taunton last year before lock down.

They made a start, then stopped. They have ignored all attempts of contact since then. We have not clue if they ever completed the drop, and most people i have asked did not receive the leaflet.

Happy to remove this if someone contacts me with an explanation, however I would recommend using royal mail for guarantee your leaflets will be delivered.

Totally trustworthy and excellent service

I wholeheartedly recommend Dor2Dor for leaflet dropping. My company Doorstep Baker Ltd relies on leaflets to get our message across. We were nervous about using a leaflet drop company as we could not be sure that leaflets were dropped properly. We are so relieved to have found Dor 2 Dor. What fantastic service, flexibility, reliability, personal touch and a real understanding and expertise in leafleting and the local area. Above all I rate them 10/10 for trustworthiness and I feel totally confident that all my leaflets will be dropped with care and according to my instructions. I was particularly impressed with the checks and balances which they have in place to ensure that their leafleters deliver to instructions. And when we had to make adjustments to fit our business needs, Dor 2 Dor was so accommodative and made the whole experience of working with them a pleasure. I will not use any other leaflet drop companies now regardless of the size of any discounts they may offer me.
