Trying to find any way I can to leave incredibly positive reviews of this company for the beans and roastery.

They are home to 2 of my favourite blends of all time, their good morning sunshine blend and the common grounds barrel aged coffee beans are incredible, rich, aromatic and unique.

Good morning sunshine as a filter brew is slightly higher acidity but the flavour is slightly more typical than common grounds with a nutty, vanilla, somehow creamy but spiced hinting flavour, I will never be unhappy with these beans.

On the other hand, Common Grounds is unique, the barrel ageing has so much more effect than I expected, these beans have a slightly lower acidity filter brew with rich rich whisky notes, I describe the taste as sort of mincemeat adjacent but with a boozy liquor top note, the base isn't an intrusive heavily roasted chocolate either it just feels stable and subtle with a nice mouth feel.

Huge huge recommendation for anyone and everyone. I have no idea about the typically more espresso leaning darker roasts but Under Milk Wood is also fantastic.

Barely warm coffee - disappointing - won’t bother going back

Have been buying dark woods coffee for a while now, and have been through their core range. Whilst all of their beans are good, we absolutely love the smoothness and flavour of under milk wood. Rarely any issues, the only time I had to contact them was when received a bag of coffee I didn't order, and they sent out the correct bag same day, offered an apology and advised me to keep the incorrect bag with their compliments. This is old fashioned service with a superb product.

I recently purchased a few 250g bags of coffee beans to try as I was becoming increasingly dissatisfied with other brands of bland tasting coffee. We’re now drinking the first bag, the barrel aged common grounds and WOW! The taste is amazing. It’s strong, not bitter, with a rich dark chocolatey/whisky flavour. We’re hooked and can’t wait to try the rest. At last a coffee that’s rich in flavour.

Just tried their Black Hill - a italian style coffee and I think it is great! It is chocolatey and a little old fashioned but no bitterness - very sweet and tastey! As I have a pretty basic machine at home - this turns out wonderful. And turns out that i probably prefer a darker roast and a more traditional taste, vs the citrusy / fruity coffees, which are quite hard to get right at home!

This is a review for an event at Darkwoods. We attended their home barista course yesterday, run by Paul, one of their directors. After greeting each of us with a cup of wonderful Darkwoods coffee, he delivered an absolutely brilliant training session, providing detailed information and advice on, for example, how to dial in your home grinder, how to prepare an espresso, and how to steam milk. We had the opportunity for hands-on coffee-making on their superb professional machines. Alongside all this, Paul spoke to us about all the wider aspects of the coffee trade and how Darkwoods work with an ethics-based approach to build relationships with growers (they are a certified B Corps company). His deep knowledge of coffee and his vast professional experience made for a truly fascinating morning. He shared his advice so generously in response to our questions, and his practical demonstrations were brilliantly informative. We now have a much clearer idea of what to aim for in making a good espresso at home. The superb setting in the beautiful old Mill building also added to the enjoyment. Thank you, Paul, for one of the most inspiring, interesting and useful workshops we've ever attended. We hope to be at Darkwoods again in the future for the monthly cafe event.

Been ordering the Darkwoods x North Brew Co releases previously, and decided I wanted to try some of Darkwoods other offerings.

When my package arrived It contained two bags (one was not what I had ordered). I got in touch via email and received a response within the hour from Duncan who informed me he would get the one I had originally ordered sent out the same day and to keep the one that was sent. This arrived a couple of days later so was pleased to receive it quickly.

Speedy delivery, great customer experience (especially in resolving the issue) and above all else fantastic coffee. Will be ordering again (and again hopefully!). Highly Recommended.

Great coffee and service from the team at dark woods, repeat customer ordering regularly for a few years now!

Apart from excellent coffee, the customer service is second to none. Placed an order on Wednesday and it was supposed to be delivered by DPD on the Friday, DPD “lost” the package, spoke to Darkwoods customer service who replaced the coffee free of charge and is taking the issue up with DPD themselves.
