I wanted to share my experience having my van converted with you.

After purchasing a T6 kombi in December 2019 I was looking forward to having it converted but we all know what happened, when we were allowed I visited 5 different companies and encountered poor workmanship and apathy towards any detailed discussion, a couple of companies were pretty good but their prices were not.

I met a friend who had purchased a already converted van from Custom Design Campervans and I was so impressed that I drove down from Manchester to Coventry to meet with them.

They had around 10 vans already converted on show, I was shown around their workshop, where they do all the work themselves from upholstery to unit assembly and paintwork. I was given a fixed quote in writing along with a list of available build dates for 2021.

Once we agreed a date the van was dropped off and i was driven to the station to get the train home. A week later the reverse happened and we arrived at the workshop with the conversion complete and looking great.

I have been back several times and can honestly say what a great bunch of lads that work there, in particular Brad who has on several occasions gone beyond what I would expect anyone to do.

So if anyone is looking around I would recommend a visit and no I do not have any connection with the company other than being a happy customer.

I was searching for a campervan for sometime before coming across Custom Design Campervans and from the very start CDC were first class! Booking a viewing/test drive, purchasing and collection were all straight forward, making the whole process stress free. You can tell the camper has been built to the highest standard and no corners have been cut giving it a real luxurious feel. If you are looking for a camper I would definitely consider CDC. We have just taken delivery of our completed conversion, on a Vauxhall Vivaro.
The design and quality of the work is excellent, and completed on schedule.
Everyone was really helpful, talking us through the process and allowing us to complete the work in stages.
I’m sure if you shopped around you might be able to find some elements cheaper, but their quality and attention to detail is well worth it.
We have a few extras to sort and fully intend to return to them to have these sorted.

What a fabulous experience from start to finish. We bought our campervan just over a week ago and we love it. The experience we had with CDC was 1st class and nothing was too much trouble from fitting a diesel heater to delivering the van to us over 140 miles away! They went above and beyond and are just at the other end of the phone if you have any queries or need any help after sale. They do top quality conversions and have exceptional attention to detail. I would 100% recommend.

What a brilliant experience we had with Custom Design Campervans! Everyone we encountered were really patient with us, very happy to answer our many questions by email and then face to face when we collected, with Paul patiently and meticulously making sure we understood how everything worked, before we left.
They gave us really helpful support and advice about the conversion and you can tell they really care about what they do.
The finish on our campervan ‘Gloria’ is absolutely beautiful both inside and outside.
We’ve been out and tried everything out and everything works brilliantly, as you would expect but judging by reviews of other places is often not the case.
We went for a retro style upholstery and Tom was brilliant in helping us think about how the colours and finishes would look.
We couldn’t be happier!

Buying a converted van was something I was very anxious about before I found Custom Design Campervans. It’s a big investment and I felt like other places didn’t reflect that in their attitude. CDC could not have been more different. A friendly and ridiculously knowledgeable team, all my questions were answered. Brad took me on a lengthy test drive so I knew I liked the van. Due to distance, we had video calls to go over colours make sure everything was going to be just right.
Even once I’d picked my van up, the aftercare has been nothing short of brilliant.
If you’re looking to get camper, I can’t recommend these guys highly enough. Outstanding and I’ve no doubt you’ll be as pleased with yours as I am with mine.

Paul, Brad and Tom were great to deal with and assisted with all sorts of queries and were really prompt and informative in the communications. They welcomed a pre-purchase inspection and were straightforward in dealing with a price and extras. The aftercare with the team including Melissa has been just as good. Sometimes you just have to take the plunge and I was confident I was in good hands in doing so despite my limited knowledge. I would be very confident about their advice and going back to them in the future if I need to.

From start to finish the team (Brad, Paul & Tom) at Custom Design Campervans were fantastic, they provided such a personal and professional service throughout, and they realise that this is a huge investment and they want to get everything spot on, and they did just that.

Paul has been fantastic from the moment we reached out, to collection day and even after we drove away and has given us support.

We had been to a number of professional camper converters and custom design camper vans were by far the best for many reasons. But if I had to pick 2 only for this review then they would be quality and customer service.

Quality. You really do have to see what they produce in person. The pictures don’t do their work any justice. As soon as you step into one their converted vans you really can see and feel the premium materials used and professional finish. They’d be hard to beat. I’d also say the quality of the used vans they seem to find is of a very high standard. They won’t let you leave with a lemon.

Customer service. We bought a van from them that was already converted to the specs we were looking for and we got lucky. However, if you want something unique and bespoke or have a van already that needs some work, I am sure they can provide what you need. Paul is very patient and calming when helping you decide. He is not pushy and helps facilitate what you want and will talk you through all options giving honest opinions. He even held the van for us while we went away to decide what we wanted to do and to be honest it’s because of Paul and his outstanding customer service we went with Custom Design Campers.

We have no regrets and wish we found them sooner. They made sure the van was mechanically sound, serviced, re sprayed and cleaned to look brand new. Since driving away we have been in touch to discuss future upgrades/mods and we will continue to use them for all work on the van.

My first visit to Custom Design Campervans was the first time I had looked at a van to buy. I drove a LWB van, and decided it was too big for parking at home. I was impressed by how the vans looked both inside and out. I asked whether he had any other vans, and Brad said he would find one. He is very patient with customers, this is a good reason to buy from CDC. After sourcing a T6 Transporter I came along and spent some time driving it. I was happy it drove well. So, I put my specification to Brad, diesel heater, Rib bed, solar panel, cruise control, two tone, white and copper-bronze. Selected the interior colours, flooring, seats and blinds. He said he would convert the van to my specification. I went away.
Some weeks later, after one or two further additions to the specification I returned to CDC to pick up the van. Unbelievable, the van was perfect it matched exactly what I wanted, a masterpiece nothing more I can say other than to thank Brad and his team for building my dream van! CDC is highly recommended if you want your dream campervan.

After researching and thinking about getting a campervan for the last few years we have finally taken the plunge and bought one from custom design campervans. Initially dealt with Brad who was very prompt with all my enquiries (I had a lot being a newbie 😂) but he was so helpful. We booked to view one of their “ready” vans and were assisted by Paul, who couldn’t have done any more to answer all our umpteen questions. Nothing was an issue for these guys, they all go above and beyond for customer service and work very hard to tweak any requirements you have speedily and efficiently (we opted to have solar and awning added) we both felt like they cared about you as an individual and have great pride in their work… outstanding, I wouldn’t have any hesitation in recommending custom design campervans whatsoever. It’s a big investment, and all the team here look after your every need. Simply amazing, thank you guys. We are now looking forward to our new camper life out in “Harriet Copperpot”

I dealt with Brad initially, very helpful. It was a little different for me as I was coming from Jersey. Brad collected me from a nearby hotel. I'd asked for the van to have a heater, awning and extra table added, nothing was too much trouble and Brad and the others made it easy. There was a slight issue with the heater, I messaged and had a phone call back within minutes. I'd forgotten to take the table I'd ordered and they posted it on to me. Great experience and I would have no hesitation in recommending Custom Design Campervans LTD to anyone who wants a head-turning van. The standard of finish is fab. I had a T4 in the past so I know a little about conversions. As said great service!!! Thanks.......

Brad and the team are excellent and the level of craftsmanship in the conversion is fantastic. We’re delighted with our newly converted T6 and so glad we found Custom Design Campervans. They’re clearly passionate about what they do and the customer service is outstanding. If you’re looking for a conversion, I’d highly recommend.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Brad and his team. They built a custom VW T6.1 for us, exactly to our spec. The team has that one rare thing in this business: ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Every little thing has been thought through and they did their best to make it right. They've answered every question I have, pointed me to links and model numbers of equipment, and even made the wiring diagram I asked for (by hand!). I'm extremely pleased with the van and it was ready to camp as we drove off the lot.

Build your next van with them. If I ever need another, I will!

We bought our dream van in October 2022, the Custom Camper team (Brad and Paul) have been there for us on our journey, through teething issues and all manner of questions, even helping us while overseas with advice and guidance. We have recently asked them to fix dents, fit an awning, and sensors in the rear bumper (might help us with the dents!), all this as they are completely trusted given thier excellent communication and honest pricing.
