Awful place upon arrival was supposed to be between 12 and 1 only to be told it was 4 and 5 on arrival caravan gold was dirty dirty pots in dishwasher not even cleaned dragon flys on floor and pubic hair in shower someone’s coat left in wardrobe doors don’t shut properly then the water got cut off until 4 o’clock then the next day no internet restaurant was nearly 15 pound for a curry with hardly anything on the plate was starving after had better elsewhere for less parks are rubbish for kids my mum and dad paid for a seafront caravan for the ev charger to charge there car it didn’t work was turned off but all the others worked reception staff and manager was useless kept fobbing them off saying it’s to do with the contractors who haven’t even turned up shouldn’t be on there site if they have no responsibility for them and state for electric cars on website it works never heard anything so ridiculous from staff all they’re hard earned money what they work for down the drain on this place looking forward to going home and would never come to this place again avoid don’t waste your money

Dont come to craig tara, its the worse haven site in the country. The place wants closing down. We paid for a signature gold sea view caravan the views was beautiful alot of seaweed and smell but was still nice . The caravan was ok but not worth the money we paid . The carpets and sofa dirty, But our main upsetting thing was we paid for an EVCharger for our car to be charged which was included in the price and stated in the itinerary of the caravan , when we go to plug it in it wasent working so we went to look at the other caravans on our row only to be found all to be working apart from ours . We reported this every day only to be lied to by reception staff including manager there is no way we will ever come to craig tara again in my opinion PLEASE AVOID Its the most disgusting please ever and rude and staff horrendous all want sacking and all place closing down the bad reviews are all true the sooner something is done about CRAIG TARA the better They need to be stopped spoiling people’s holiday who wirks hard to pay for these holidays.

Avoid at all costs its a money pit and never get conned into buying a caravan from haven it's the biggest con ever the site fees are outrageous Avoid

THE STAFF WAS APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS LOWER THAN LOW THE MANAGER WAS THE WORST OUT OF THEM ALL DIDNT CARE BASICALLY LAUGHED IN MY FACE.
ACTIVITIES WELL GOOD LUCK WOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT BOOKING BEFOREHAND ALL GET CANCELLED.

Holiday Review

Just got back from our holiday at Craig Tara, and unfortunately it wasn’t the best holiday for us.

The caravan itself was okay, although it was a bit damaged. It would have been helpful to have a dustpan and brush or a hoover, as we had to borrow one from another caravan.

I wouldn’t rate the entertainment or the amusements, especially the prizes. The park is also very large and there wasn’t enough signage, so we found ourselves looking around trying to find where we needed to go.

We also had to queue for around 45 minutes for Sunday dinner, which wasn’t ideal.

Unfortunately, overall we wouldn’t recommend it and we won’t be going back. Loads activities canceled entertainment cancelled.

Very bad experience no WiFi and I have paid for it. Went to reception and told her how can I connect WiFi on tv. She said pay for it now they charged me £5 but apparently I found out it doesn’t work on tv. So shocking not true information from reception😞. And now I have rang everybody and nobody is willing to help. Caravans are not clean and I saw bed bugs last night.

We went to Craig Tara from 10th August to 17th August 2026. The caravan was lovely very clean. The staff was amazing and very friendly. Kids really enjoyed themselves at the entertainment during the day and night. We will definitely be booking again next year.

Stayed 14th to the 17th August 2026 at Craig tara. Absolutely horrendous, no WiFi, lights tripped and was a gold caravan from hell. I left 3 expensive clothing items. Called constantly when I got home to North Ayrshire. Could not get through to reception. Drove there today to be told at reception my things were in lost property then told nothing was there. I definitely know they were left. So now I have to report them stolen to the police which I will do to get a refund from the park. Everytime you go to reception you will be phobed off regardless of your complaint. I'm know going to head office. Place a joke. Must get up to 100 or more complaints a day at reception with nothing more than a robotic response. Found a beautiful place not far from there and over the moon to finish off my holiday.

I have been at a few Haven holiday resorts I decided to try my nearest Craig Tara , I had heard many bad reports & reviews , I arrived with an open mind , caravan was new & immaculate , the staff & complex where great aged but very impressive complex , I had booked swimming it was cancelled for some reason, on the Sunday today my granddaughter booked aquajets , we arrived at the water park absolutely disgusting filth everywhere at the entrance , the stairways , the internal walkways , the dressing rooms where unusable , the floor tiles had not seen an industrial cleaner in years , I think if environmental health where called they would shut it down , we paid for Aquajets my granddaughters machine broke down no spare the just gave her a beach ball to play with this is a chargeable extra , last point I was at the entrance , I saw a male lifeguard leaving the building in his bare feet then came back in still with no footwear , the whole water park needs closed down & deep cleaned

Our recent stay at Craig Tara was extremely disappointing and fell far below the standards Haven advertises. The caravan we were allocated was not cleaned before arrival — dead flies on surfaces, green residue on the table, cobwebs throughout, and even a loose piece of wood with nails sticking out. This was a clear safety hazard in a family caravan.

Several maintenance issues were present from the start, including a damaged door, a broken bedroom light, rusted fittings, and missing basic items. Staff acknowledged that some of these problems were already known and logged, yet none were repaired during our stay. Even after two cleaning visits, the caravan still wasn’t properly clean and the maintenance issues remained untouched.

When we asked about moving accommodation, we were told the park was full and nothing was available. With it being a short weekend break, we didn’t want to spend our limited time packing up and moving even if something became available later, so we were effectively stuck with a caravan that wasn’t fit for purpose.

What made this worse is that reception never mentioned Haven’s “Cleanliness Guarantee”, despite Haven frequently referring to it in their responses to other guests’ reviews. Had we been informed, we would have understood our options and could have requested a proper resolution or alternative accommodation. Instead, we were left unaware of the guarantee and received no meaningful support.

The issues extended beyond the caravan. The swimming pool changing area was muddy and dirty, with rubbish and used nappies left on the floor. Inside the pool area, there were visible patches of black mould on the steps and walls. The play area also looked poorly maintained, with large rips in the artificial grass.

Overall, the standard of cleanliness, maintenance, communication, and guest support was nowhere near acceptable. Based on this experience, we would not return to Craig Tara and cannot recommend it.

The caravan we were allocated was very dirty and dated both inside and outside and required replacing it was beyond being cleaned tbh we had two very distressed children but couldn’t possibly have slept in the conditions and we left right away manager on duty very apologetic and indicated a full refund but this just isn’t good enough I would give no stars if possible

Well where do I start I got here to find the apartment stunk of cigarette smoke which it shouldn't have as all apartments are non smoking. There were cigarettes all on the grass outside the window. To add insult there was dog poo all in the grass. I also noticed a broken window handle and door handle in one of the bedrooms. The whole place stunk as well as the furniture. I went to reception and made a complaint about the above problems and was told it would be sorted. Only thing that was sorted was the handles that's it no clean up so I had to go and get fabreeze off site and come back and spray everything to freshen it up and try to get rid of the smell. If I'm honest it's completely put me off coming here again, the quality just isn't there they are charging you top money for worn down worn out apartments that just ain't being maintained. I've got photos of all this including paint coming off windows, rubbish being left on floor outside bins etc. I have noticed too that they are employing young adults to clean and the job they are doing is just shocking bare minimum clean. The views are lovely but the state of the apartments and site are appalling. I have stayed at several haven sites in Scotland but this has got to be the worst. Also forgot to mention that half the ticket machines to cash in your tickets were out of order only 2 were working with massive queues to use them.
in the end I gave the tickets away as had been waiting a hour to try and cash in the tickets. Really disappointed with the site

CRAIG TARA -HAVEN ;Please can I get my full refund back
I am just tired of phoning and waiting for someone to pick the phone up after 50-an hour long . You gave me a letter in writing that you will refund all my money but I have to keep phoning . You have refunded only parts and still half not refunded . We never stayed at all as you are aware I came to the reception like 5 times and with your staff attitude , things never got rectified . Place was not appropriate to live with no bed linen and bed soiled . I sent pictures already. I just need the rest of my money . The fact that you also say you have nothing to do with activities booked in the same booking you ask us to email Craig Tara activities to ask for arefund separately but you refuse to provide details . How do I claim that activity money back . Honestly I wish I read reviews before I went there ... holiday ruined for kids and I. Please just refund my money so I can do something else with my kids .

Place is absolutely fantastic, staff are great, particularly Melissa that works in the activity team.. she was about at times when my kids were doing activities and she was so helpful and kind anytime I seen her :).

Caravan was clean and everything there that was needed.

Bar staff could do with a bit more training when making drinks , very slow , they ran out of a certain drinks, they don’t have a big choice of mocktails for kids which they should improve on..

I have stayed here while I was working as a coach driver with groups so this time I travelled with my own family and we had a great time

Posting for my grandson and his mum they went to Grag Tara for two weeks payed over a thousand pounds when they had to come home early this is there complaint. Absolute disgrace as soon as we arrived thick white dog hairs were all over the apartment, we brought this up with management after we had to leave our holiday a week early due to strong smell of cannabis, unclean apartments, fighting and fire alarms being set off constantly due to cannabis being smoked and children setting it off. The pool was unsafe as the railings were rusted and unsafe to climb on which could have resulted in an injury, the pool was unclean full of dirt, plasters, rust and toilet paper. Seen a video online before going to apartments (103 foyers) where a man opened 104 foyers with the key included for 103 we tested this when our neighbour in 104 foyers couldn't find her key and our key was able to lock and unlock the door. We left due to poor drug control on the park, disrespectful guests not respecting others, and a lack of safety or security in our home, we were afraid when we left the building someone could enter and take our stuff due to not knowing how many keys open every door, when speaking to management they told us that couldn't of happened it would be 1 in a million chance and that it was a fluke. We have lost 1 week worth of money and aren't sure whether we will be refunded due to our troubles, we will not be returning to Craig tara holiday park as their standards have fell down. It is no longer a family safe park in our opinion.

Staff not trained on how to post a phone reciever when the phone rings. Won’t change caravan location as it’s 8 days too late but they don’t tell you where your van is until the day before. Won’t be back

Caravan is covered in piss and random stains everywhere it’s very dirty all surfaces dirty beds broken Iam covered in bites absolutely no signal in the park save your money and go elsewhere! They offered to clean is all they can do but honestly the place is crawling also kettle leaks no handles on pots and in general very dirty small no space and not very well laid out

First time caravan holiday.
The location was up a hill because was situated in arran view fine as wasn't paying £50 + extra to pick location.
Arrived 8pm so was late and there was oven tray with sausages in oven I just binned them and cleaned it thought maybe cleaner forgot to check oven but there were also cereal boxes in bin cupboard beside plastic bin tht had been emptied so dont know if cleaner emptied bin but forgot to go back for cereal boxes. Also full cupboard of Crisps and popcorn and pretzels obviously from previous guest.
There was cup marks on dining table so dont think that had been cleaned either and floor seemed sticky.
I had brought antibacterial wipes so just used them on floor and table.
Unfortunately the hairdryer didnt work either never found that out to a couple of days in as arrived late had shower after swimming first day.
Oven seemed weird aswell as if gap at top and part missing?
So had 2 block it with Tinfoil as a 20 min cook time ended up taking 40 mins.
There was a small leak in radiator in bathroom.
Remote didnt work in livingroom think it needed new batteries.
All of these things were annoying but bedding was clean bathroom was clean could see hoover marks on carpets.
Just think more time spent on checking appliances like hairdryer Remote are working.
Then a check of cupboards and cooker.
I wouldnt say was unclean compared to other people's reviews.
Just thought id leave a review to maybe get cleaning and maintenance staff to take more time on cleans so done correctly. I had a good time though doing pottery with my nephews and swimming and going to heads of ayr next to haven.
Only went to entertainment one night sound was up really loud and a girl was murdering if I was a boy by Beyonce so ended up leaving early as kids couldn't take the noise level.
I think it you only pay a couple of hundred for 5 nights fine but I definitely wouldnt pay anymore as wouldnt be worth it with caravan issues and activities being extra because could go abroad for prices it can be mon to fri in busy season but for a cheap break not in peak times its fine.

Craig Tara is a brilliant staycation holiday and I have went every March ,June, and September for the past 23 years. Sometimes using sun holidays for the first few years as I was a 20year old mother of two under 3yrs old, a wife , a homemaker and full time social carer. For 19 years I have booked directly from Haven Holidays. Craig Tara has always been my ideal destination. I only go abroad maybe once a year so usually in September when I would not go to Craig Tara. Now we have a partially blind 4yr old grandson who joins us at Craig Tara for most of our stays. A few weeks ago we booked our normal silver, random site destination holiday. In short there was a soaking wet duvet, sheet, and mattress in the double room. Only soaked in one section next to the window which was open. I immediately requested new bedding. Nothing came that day so I dried the mattress against the radiator and flipped it over. A single sheet and duvet made for a very uncomfortable night. I asked maintenance to come with bedding, they never responded. From the next morning Saturday until Monday I had been at reception 5 imes, been on hold when calling them for several hours , messaged maintenance and was already halfway into my holiday without basic amenities! The biggest problem was precious time spent trying to get these. A full ruined weekend. I offered to wash the original bedclothes myself but told not to. I requested to attend their laundry department and collect these things myself. Again told that wasn’t possible. I eventually on Monday refused to leave the reception without bed sheets. Again I was told that wasn’t possible. I received a £50 food voucher for the inconvenience but at 5pm the bedding STILL wasn’t there. When I eventually told them I was going home and wanted a full refund for making my holiday un-necessarily stressful and uncomfortable, I told them to take the £50 food vouchers back which they were now calling ‘compensation’ the bedding was delivered within 5 minutes! My grandson went home that day and I was gutted I wasted so much time for something that only took 5 minutes. I have been offered an upgrade on my next booking but after the standard of basic services were so abysmal, I am not sure if I want to go back. It’s as if the staff are saying ‘it’s only your main bedding, you could have enjoyed your holiday without it for a few nights’. But no, my main complaint is that the problem was reported right away, and then took at least 3 hours out of every day trying to get basic comforts for a supposedly relaxing holiday.

We stay at Craig Tara 6 times a year, but our trust has been completely broken. After checking out of 30 Rabbies Retreat (March 13-16), we realized my son's new trainers (£140) were left behind.
​On Tuesday the 17th, staff confirmed via phone that the shoes were found and being held at reception. However, when we tried to collect them, we were told there was "no record" of them. How do high-value items vanish from a secure staff area after being officially recovered?
​To make matters worse, my wife waited over an hour at reception to speak to a manager, only to be told they were "too busy" to see her. This isn't just a lost property issue; it’s a massive breach of trust and integrity. If staff can "lose" found items, how can we trust them in our van for maintenance during our stay?
​We have two more stays booked for April and May, but unless this is resolved and our property returned/reimbursed, we will be cancelling. Emails to Haven are bouncing back, and management is hiding in the office. Unacceptable service for loyal customers.
