Counselling Directory is really easy to use to look for therapists and contact them. Its good to see they are verified with you, which gives peace of mind and confidence in the directory as a professional site to use
The information provided by counsellors about them is easy to understand, clear and concise.

The Counselling Directory meet and often exceed my expectations every time I'm in touch. There is always someone who answers the phone and has useful suggestions to my questions - whether that be my profile or with finding out more information on working through puzzling questions that pop up every now and then. They have weekly marketing sessions which are very useful too. So far, no complaints! Keep going team :)

Really easy site to use. Managed to email a couple of therapists, let's see what happens

Very easy to set up a page and had to provide proof of my membership of a professional body. The customer service from the team was really helpful and I appreciated the extra advice they gave me.

Left an enquiry on email. Received no response. Call number provided. No answer. Left voicemail, no response.

There needs to be some way of rating counsellors so that you know who you are about to work with.

I had a very traumatic experience with my therapist, Mimi. I saw Ms Chan for nearly 4 years near where I live in Richmond.

She called me disingenuous, mocked my height (when I said I was insecure about it, she told me "my son is very tall") and would sometimes run me to the room saying I needed to lose weight. She consistently compared me to her son (I had told her my biggest regret was dropping out of Uni, she said "my son goes to Cambridge - to go there you need to be good at something"). She often spoke about herself and her own insecurities and put her problems on me. She laughed at me when I brought up an experience of sexual abuse I had been through. I felt so violated for bringing my vulnerability to this person.

To close down nearly 4 years of therapy she gave my time slot to a new client and told me that they were my "replacement". In the last session she said that she "didn't want to watch my decline", that she had never wanted to work with me from the start and that she was "sick of my face". Totally invalidating the whole experience.

I had a mental breakdown as a result of therapy with her. One of the worst experiences of my life.

Inquired last week and I've heard nothing back

I have been with the Counselling Directory for many years both as a therapist and supervisor and have been pleased with the service received.

However, it would be really helpful when searching for a Supervisor, if it was possible to easily identify those Supervisors who are qualified to work with both adults and young people? Possibly through a specific - Adult/Child/Young People - addition to the pre-search, tick-box section?

It is quite an onerous task reading through a hopeful Supervisor's page, only to discover in the 'small print', that child work is not covered?

The advisor sorted my query quickly and efficiently.

Easy to use website, lots of available councillors to contact. It's good the prices are included on their page

I've had the most lovely experience this morning updating my profile. Every person I spoke with was delightful and very helpful, which made the whole process so easy. Thank you everyone!

Really easy to use, as a counsellor and as a client, loads of options to filter your profile and really personalise it. It's a great service.

I was surprised by just how much space I had to write my profile. All sections handily presented. So easy to navigate around the site. I had to call for assistance and was responded to in timely fashion. I spoke to an amazing representative who talked me through the process. In fact, we had quite a giggle about things. My next conversation was my welcome and confirmation of status call. So friendly and welcoming. I felt like I was joining a real community and not just a faceless directory! Wonderful.

I shared my concerns about the tick box element. I felt I had enough in my biography etc to let the client know my approach and practice focus. The tick box scenario could not cover the nuances or the fact I'm no diagnostic or label orientated. However, there was also space to write my own thing which countered this.

Over all, an excellent experience and I feel confident I can review and edit my profile with an instant update.

So easy to create a really personal and profile with the counselling directory. Being able to have written, photo and video presence feels like a more thorough and accessible way to show prospective clients who I am and how I work. The new feature that allows people to book an initial session is also great. Really easy on boarding experience!

CD directory make it very easy to set up and it's very quick. I really like that they review your profile and give you feedback to make it better
