Charges £4.5k upfront. Just another scam.
I was messaged by an agent on LinkedIn. The generic nature of the message immediately rang alarm bells, since it promised a lot and didn't seem tailored to my industry or role at all.
I delved a little deeper and it became clear the agent knew NOTHING about me. Not even my sector or current position. Suspect I was just one of hundreds that had been spammed that day.
Another reviewer on Google had warned that "accreditation" and membership would cost £4.5k for the first 2 years. I politely queried this with the agent and they blocked me.
Answers elsewhere say this fee structure is communicated clearly before any engagement, but this was not the case. No mention of any fees in 3+ messages. Seems this is little more than another scam.

I’m so tired of them targeting me to sign up! I say no every time but every few months another sales person reaches out…. A senior professional with 20 years experience would not pay to get a NED role at least I never have and utilise a great network to do this organically.

Avoid
Very expensive, course was insultingly bad, poor comms, pushy sales, ignoring problems, pyramid scheme that feels like a scam. They treat their NEDs as a second class commodity and leave them entirely unsupported.
Site was unusable for months, and a firm refusal listen when I said I wanted to leave and be refunded.

The training course on the Board Advisory pathway is designed to give you the grounding knowledge and understanding within that role space to best properly prepare you for the probono placement. We are sorry to hear that you didn't gain value the content
In regards to the support once the training had been completed our team facilitated a probono placement within that same month for you. Due to the business changing its direction it did not materialize for the full six months. In these situations we look to rectify and have offered and want to set up a new pro bono placement for you, which you have rejected.
The platform has not been unusable for any such period of time.

I wasn't impressed
I wasn't impressed. They approached me to meet. The call was scripted so didn't feel authentic. The ask is minimum £2500 to connect me with industry on a pro bono scheme with a view to being paid after 6 months. Essentially, I pay to work for free and see what transpires. A good initiative for those with less experience but I am 30 years in already advising companies so not for me. I wasted 15 mins of my time and wish they had of been more transparent at the beginning. I was reluctant with the approach through LinkedIn but I thought it was a bit more genuine.

Unpaid roles for 6 months. Selling you "experience", for zero monetary return, while Connectd bank a nice fee from the client.
They contact you initially on LinkedIn, get you to set up and appointment for a Google Meet, all the while there's no mention that these roles are unpaid.
Mention that the roles are UNPAID from the outset and STOP wasting people's time.
As mentioned in other negative reviews, this has a really shady pyramid scheme vibe to it.
Avoid these scammers like the plague.

Connectd gave me structure.
Having worked at the same company for 30 years, I was a little hesitant about what might come next.
Connectd gave me options; to spend my time on what mattered most, to freely explore a portfolio career, and to remain calm and confident in doing so.
Couldn’t recommend it enough to anyone thinking about fractional work.

WARNING - High-pitch Sales for what is a Pyramid Scheme
I warn people to watch out for their sales technique - they should win as oscar. they contact you, pretend you have been found and have 'special qualities' that are under consideration, then you are 'accepted' - this is BS, you do not have 'special qualities', they just want your money. They cast a wide net and take in as many as possible for a market that is over saturated. They take no risks - you take all the risks, and if you are new to this, then you are potentially screwed. It is basically a pyramid scheme to extract money from you when are you vulnerable. Don't do it unless you are loaded and have no money worries, no job worries, no worries at all

In relation to your progress, at 64 days post-academy completion you are still within the standard placement window, during which the vast majority of members are successfully placed. We will continue working with you to identify appropriate opportunities and ensure you are placed.
We also recognize that circumstances can change, and where appropriate we do our best to accommodate individuals on a case-by-case basis. Our customer team will continue to support you throughout the membership
