Browsing dynamics can be improved - can be cheaper

There are a few PC-tech retailers in Australia that offer unconditionally free postage with $250+ spending. I'd definitely buy more products more often if Computer Alliance offered free postage for $100+, which I'm sure would lead to greater revenue in the long run.

Another big plus by my standards is user experience when browsing & comparing products on the site. Computer Alliance's site can be improved. I love not needing to click thanks to the automatic categorical expansions when I hover my mouse over. It helps me get to the specific item page efficiently. However, ComAll's site requires consumers to click a lot to get to an item page of interest (e.g. it takes me 9s to get from home page to DDR5 RAM vs 3s in Mwave & PLE).

Aspects that I'd appreciate upgrades on:
- general component pricing (not always competitive compared to Scorptec, Umart, & BPC for example)
- ability to expand all dropdown categories with a mouse hover

Cheers for the overall positive experience Computer Alliance, keep up the good stuff!

Hi there Thursday afternoon dealt with a young fella on the phone in regards to buying a router for home internet . Guys name was Nicholas in the sales team. This guy was a breath of fresh air with his knowledge explaining the differences between routers and modems and giving me a list in my price range that were applicable to my required needs. This guy went above and beyond. He is a credit to your team and your staff. I later that night came in and purchased what I needed. He was patient knowledgeable and put my mind at ease. Thankyou Nicholas and thankyou computer alliance.

Good prices, trustworthy

I have always found Computer Alliance to have good products at very competitive prices. Recently I had an issue with a $5000 Asus laptop, and Computer Alliance were slow to respond. But fortunately eventually they did address the warranty claim.

I do recommend Computer Alliance. Products and prices are good, and staff are friendly and helpful.

Horrible value for Money, do not shop with them at any cost

Bought a laptop from them and the display stopped working completely at 2 years.
Called them up as their website states that they will service devices years after it has been purchased or sometimes to the lifetime of the product as part of their servicing.
Was told that even though the laptop was thousands of dollars, they would not repair this or look at it without me paying for it despite what their website said.

Avoid if possible

Avoid if possible, just find a reputable dealer who doesn't need to open the product to apply 3rd party in-house warranty stickers.

Item recieved on time but with the security sticker in a cut state. Called the company to ask why the security seal was cut, and turns out the product was opened in house to "apply a 3rd party re-seller warranty sticker". Sale on eBay was unclear to have been from a 3rd party re-seller who would require opening the package.

Overall not the most happy having purchased a potentially tampered with item, no guarantee that the item wasn't returned from a customer due to my similar concerns and resold, so no way to guarantee it's state, no way to guarantee it's authenticity and now unsure about whether to risk a potential vulnerability or to send it back and cop the restocking fee.

Please avoid

Please avoid. If you get a product from them and it works, great for you. But if you don't or there's something wrong, their customer service will try their best to make sure you don't make a return or that they will find a way to charge a restocking fee.

I've bought from Scorptec and their customer service is incredible. It's well worth considering who you buy from.

Avoid at all costs.

I bought a computer power supply from this store and when I installed it, the computer wouldn't turn on.

I brought the computer to the store with the power supply inside, thinking that the store would gelp me get it working - since after all, they sold me the power supply. However, they wouldn't just plug the computer in and check. They said that would require me to pay for a $65 diagnostic service, which was ridiculous. My computer worked with its previous power supply unit so clearly there was a problem with the new one.

So I took the power supply unit out so the staff member I was speaking to could check it in isolation (apparently that's fine but plugging in my computer would have cost me that diagnostic fee). He said that there was nothing wrong with the unit.

However, since it didn't work in my computer, it was no good to me so I asked to return it instead and then I got charged a restocking fee of about 20% of the item's cost. When I complained, the staff member told me that this was because the item had been opened. Well, of course it had been opened. How else could I know whether or not it would work in my computer?

I also pointed out that since that was the store's policy, how could any customer buy anything from them, knowing that there was no assurance of getting their money back if there was a problem? Without that peace of mind, I could never buy from them again. The staff member just said that was okay. Talk about bad customer service.

I realise that stores don't like dealing with returns but the reality is that sometimes items don't work for the customers and it's not their fault. Good businesses just accept this because they care about looking after their customers and in return, customers tend to trust them and buy from them again.

Clearly, Computer Alliance isn't interested in being a good business and would rather exploit customers for short-term gain than build a reputation as a business people can trust.

Avoid this store.

Will never buy from again. Terrible customer service.

Bought a sound card advertised with 5.1 output. When I discovered this was not the case, and attempted to exchange it for a MORE EXPENSIVE one, they insisted on charging me a 15% restocking fee, even though it was not my fault that their website incorrectly advertised the features. Manager was rude and obstructive. CA has lost a customer for life over this fiasco.

This is not a honest company

This is not a honest company, just try to trick you to buy from them. Would not even move a tiny finger to help the customer. Very poor customer service. Rude and unhelpful even at the product enquiry stage. I would not buy from it. Byers beware. Do not trust.

Fast delivery

I've bought two things from Computer Alliance, and both times I've had the items within a couple of days. Late Monday night I ordered some headphones, on Tuesday they were dispatched and the courier handed them to me a moment ago. Very fast!
I will definitely order from them again.

Avoid this company if possible!

Computer Alliance

I bought a LaCie Rugged 5TB HDD for AU$219 on 3rd December 2021 from Computer Alliance through amazon.com.au. At the time of purchase, I didn’t realise I was buying from a third party seller.

Upon connecting the HDD to my MacBook Pro 2020, I started backing up data. It started clicking hard (what's known as the Click of Death in the industry) when it started copying a file between 1 & 3GB. I unplugged it to avoid any further damage, reconnected it and the file was no longer being recognised on the Mac. I tried a couple of times but had no luck. Fortunately, my son has a Windows Laptop and I plugged it into that, the system immediately recognised it as a corrupted volume and suggested formatting it. I clicked on Format and it showed another error while trying to format it in NTFS (I have Paragon NTFS on my Mac so running it wouldn't be a problem).

I then tried formatting it as exFAT and it worked. I then connected it to my Mac and it started working again, as soon as it started copying larger files, same problem. I didn't have time to run extensive tests on it so I went back to Amazon and requested a refund, this is when I realised I had bought it from a third party seller "Computer Alliance", my confidence level just dropped, however as I needed a backup ASAP, so I bought another HDD.

Despite detailing the issue, that the problem only occurred on my MacBook Pro 2020, the seller didn't refund my money in full, deducting over 10% for no reason from an AU$219 product, $22.00.

1. The product did not operate as advertised.
2. I was neither consulted, nor advised prior to the partial refund being processed.

The seller is hiding behind BS 'fine-print'. I half-expected this to happen when I realised I had bought something from a 3rd Party instead of Amazon directly.

Bottom line is, the product didn't work as advertised, was returned in original packaging to the seller who could (and most definitely would) get credit from their supplier in full and pocket the balance of my money.

Pathetic!

Poor customer service - Blaming on internal system issues - refused to rectify simple order

Ordered items via Amazon Computer alliance. Found cheaper item on their eBay front.
Cancelled order via Amazon. Next day Craig cancels eBay order that had the discount.
Called and he refused to fix as he said they cant see where it came from in their system. "Too bad, you asked to cancel". Called reception raise complaint and asked to escalate. Turns out Craig was their highest manager. Just the attitude shown here lost my business.

Very bad customer experience after payment

I could get a Thinkpad laptop for a good competitive price, but the additional 3 battery warranty was overcharged.
However, my warranty information was incorrect(laptop) and missing(battery) in Lenovo's system.
After many contacts (email and phone) the team did not come back to me despite promising they will look into it (Emails to Jay, Phone to josh and David).

Very bad experience, never buy here again.

Worst experience ever

Never had a problem until something went wrong. I work in IT support and have done for the last 10 years. I ran all checks and provided the store with the links where AMD admitted to the issue with no resolution as of yet for the 5700 GPU and advised the store that the card would show no faults this is a software/driver issue on AMDs side.
I wanted to check the process as I handed the card in to be tested even though as I had told them the card was functioning and would show no fault if tested, so I called up to be spoken to in an abrupt and very rude manner on the phone, so then went back in as didnt appreciate the way I had been spoken to, the same person came out to talk and yelled at me! Then told us that he doesn't care what the ACCC says as their rules superceded this and if they can't find a fault we'd be charged $50 and couldn't give a refund as what are they going to do with a faulty card!
Only by sending a ACCC complaint letter did I get action and a full refund. If this had gone differently I would of spent the extra money in store to exchange for a 2070 super, instead now I am going elsewhere to buy and advising all my IT contacts not to shop here.

I am in Victoria and ordered an artists…

I am in Victoria and ordered an artists tablet online from the Queensland store.
I was a little hesitant at first, as my purchase was quite expensive. And to be honest I didn't know too much about the company. But on viewing there website I saw that they accept PayPal which gave me confidence in there service. And the price they were charging was a lot cheaper than there competitors.
So I went ahead and gave them a try. I am so glad I did.
I was so impressed with them. Right from the get go, they did everything so perfectly. I made the purchase and they had my tablet packaged and shipped really promptly. They kept me up to date via email through the whole process. Provided tracking details , kept me informed and really showed a high level of customer care. I was so impressed them. I was also able call the store directly with a query. That actually was amazing because you just can't do that with the big stores these days who use Ai bots. That was a big plus.
The artists tablet arrived today safely. My son is so happy as it has arrived before his birthday.

Can't recommend enough!

Product DoA and service support

3 trips to and from the store for the monitor I purchased.
1st trip 20/5/2020 pick up monitor I purchased - found issue with monitor Dead on Arrival (DOA)

2nd trip 21/5/2020 for their CA techs to assess

3rd trip 25/5/2020 CA techs were able to replicate issue and I requested replacement, picked up monitor and returned home to find the same issue.

I contacted service support - they said it was a new monitor and it was for me to return and get a refund..

Each trip to and from is 40 minutes, takes me away from my job, takes my time and petrol. also mentally drains..

They offered a refund and an Australian Post barcode for me to print and return the monitor..
