Laurel Cottage, no privacy!

Classic cottages say that they print all reviews bad or good, mine has not been published.
I rented Laurel Cottage, I particularly wanted a private, peaceful holiday. The cottage was advertised as being private although in the grounds of the owner with its own drive.
However the property is actually adjoining the owners property and the parking space and drive is immediately outside the owners front door and double height windows, there is no privacy and the one owner pops out of the front door when you come back to the property.
I was on my own with my dog, the first evening he asked where I was going as I was leaving the cottage.
The owners stressed that all of the garden and paddocks could be used, but this meant that mine area wasn’t private either. I got back one evening and there was dog poo outside the cottage, I texted the woman owner, who was in London and asked which part of the garden was mine and explained that I’d found dog poo. She explained where it was.
At 9.30 in the evening there was hammering on my door which I ignored because I was on my own then the man started shouting, I went to the door and explained that I would see him the next day. I did not see him again until the night before I left when he stood watching me packing my car, it was very uncomfortable. He is intimidating. The woman is very nice.
The cottage is well equipped and immaculate but not for anywho wants privacy.
Also in the details it says there are shallow steps to the front door, there are two sets of steps to the front door, some of the windows don’t have curtains or blinds.

Not as described filthy sofa,carpets,wood lice all over the floors, ant infestation in the bedroom
Company useless apparently they check the properties annually
We found out by the neighbours that the lady who owned the property was selling it so obviously they didn't give a damn what condition it was in company suggested sending the cleaner round what was she going to do replace all the furnishings and hire in pest control company full of so sorrys but didn't offer us back anything use a different company that actually cares about there clients you save up to go away and you end up staying in filth do not use this company

Booked in primrose cottage camborne 20-27 th July 24
So shocked at what we walked into looked uninviting darkness , lamps already on to bring in light ... old furniture in definite need of repair or just getting rid of .
Dust , grime, oil or mold stained bed sheets. Ripped bed throw main bedroom .Left underwear in draws . Makeup not wiped up in bathroom.
Bin bags of stuff shoved under bed , dare nor to look . Bugs stuck to bed sheets kids room with blood .
Furniture in desperate need of repair or new 😫
Not for one moment we could s stay
In this property. Felt as though we entered into a haunted house at a fairground.
Classic cottages were contacted within 20 minutes of getting in but were very abrupt not helpful at all . Nothing else available and would have to speak with customer care. But customer care shuts at 4 pm . They know how to play the game as far as we concerned. Loop holes everywhere.
Found our own accommodation which cost us £900 as well as £1900 paid to classic .. numerous phone calls emails but all came down to they found the property fit to stay in . Totally off the scale of what is a comfortable clean holiday home .
Dark depressing unclean was what we got.
Review was light and spacious ... definitely not .
Picture show a dirty property unkept in need of renovation.
No help to return our money from classic but they found all the loop holes. We paid our money to classic
so i wiould say its down to them to retrieve either all or at least part of money we paid out . Disgusted with our treatment will never use classic or my family again 😱😫

Unsuitable rental properties

When you rent a holiday cottage you expect it to have hot water and electricity as basic. Unfortunately our rental through Classic Cottages - Miranda Cottage in Cornwall - had multiple issues due to long term neglect and undermined significantly our holiday. Hot water boiler was broken and flooded the property on the first day. Fault on electrical wiring was cutting out electricity in half the property. Stench of drains on top floor stayed with us the entire period. Sofas were not just tatty but so old to be unusable, we had to share one armchair in the lounge. To avoid ruining our holiday completely we stopped talking to Classic Cottages after a couple of days. It was obvious they were there to manage us instead of dealing with the house problems. Their advice was a couple of short cuts to be able to use the hot water boiler as apparently it would have been to invasive to fix it during our stay. Why do you rent it in such a condition? The house set empty entire winter break. Enough time to sort out all problems instead of leaving it to paying guests.

Passive aggressive customer service

Having read reviews that are similar to the experience I had in July 2021 this company should be avoided at all costs. When you leave honest and constructive feedback the company do not like about their properties, they ‘ban’ you from making further bookings. It’s a passive aggressive way of dealing with customers who give honest feedback on the forms they pester you to complete!
The company is dishonest, they deflect responsibility and instead blame customers when their properties aren’t up to standard. I can however, highly recommend ‘Boutique Retreats’ who are far superior in both quality of properties and honest service :)

Holly Cottage in Shaldon, Devon

We stayed at Holly Cottage in Shaldon recently, the cottage which is run by Linda who is a lovely host is situated close to the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants.

It is beautifully decorated and equipped and spotlessy clean, it is the perfect location for a holiday in the lovely area of South Devon.

Disgusting customer service from Tanya Pasco and Dan Harrison

Paid 4K to stay in a Farm house in Cornwall for 1 week- the house we rented had back to back bookings and clearly no one has time to check maintainance of the house before arrival of new guests.
Arrived Saturday when it was very clear the fridge was not working - having spent a lot of money on food for a family of 12 we had no place to store it, called classics cottage who said there was nothing that they could do until Monday - I explained I had a baby who needed milk stored but again the said nothing they can do until Monday -
Being an extremely hot weekend we had no cold drinks and all food had to be thrown by Sunday.
Windows and doors of majority of rooms in the house did not open - we asked house Keeper if he could come and show us where to find keys especially for bedroom windows due to health and safety and not being able to open if case of a fire we was again told he was on holiday until Monday so won’t be able to attend til then , and there was no one else available.
For such a high end property there were a lot of faults such a cooker not working one side , broken appliances, scalding water, broken taps , and the list continues - all of which were either not seen to or dealt with 3/4 days into a 7 day holiday.
The fridge was a majour issue, we was given a hired fridge half the size on wheels and was told to use this for the duration of the holiday on day 4 as the was unable to fix the fridge which we was told by the man sent to fix it that it had recently broke and he advised for a new one for future guests
We received some
Money back from classic cottages on request which we thanked them for and enjoyed the remainder of our holiday,
Upon returning we requested some information for some other cottages via there site for 2021
We received a phone call from Tanya Pasco who had been dealing with the issues we had faced to be told that due to our high expectations and for some breakages or a few glass tumblers they would now refuse any future bookings...
How embarrassing and what disgusting customer service.
Instead of welcoming our custom back although we had a suffered on our very expensive weeks break we was told that we expected too much ? For 4K expectations would be reasonably high - expecting a fridge to work in the summer months of a self catering holiday ? Or a house keeper to be available when simple things don’t work abs basic health and safety is at risk.
The fact that the use of a fridge caused so much stress and upset for my family to have resolved, we was back and forth on phone calls to various people / waitin for it be repaired by specialists-... this is what we had to deal with when on holiday!
You would think they would of been so apologitic and empathise on how much this effected our holiday.
Asking for a key to open windows of a boiling hot house in the summer and disappointed as they have no one site to resolve until day 3 of a 7 day holiday - is high expectations?? Am I missing something?
4K for one week and our expectations are to high to what to open window and have a fridge that works....
I asked to speak to the manager above Tanya who was Dan Harrison - he called and was extremely rude and disregarded any of my upsets and agreed my expectations are to high for there company and would no longer take any bookings- he also told me to stop going on about my holiday being ruined that I need to get over that now.
I am beyond mortified at the disgusting customer service received by Dan and Tanya and how they feel appropriate to deal with valuable customers Conplaints. - shocking and extremely disappointing when we was willing to spend our hard earn cash with there company.
Take not before you book .

RIP OFF!!!

RIP OFF!!!
This company advised us to pay £18 insurance in case WE needed to cancel due to ill health however, THEY cancelled due to lockdown and now flatly refuse to refund the premium! Now they've cancelled our break there's nothing on our 'account' to follow up on!
Don't be conned into taking out their insurance as it looks like they are the policy holders not you. Better still, don't book their hotels. Shamefully awful customer service and I bet they still claim for the booking at our expense!
