Strongly AVOID Cells4Life…

I would strongly recommend Cells4Life is avoided. My sample was contaminated when it was taken. The phlebotomist changed at the last minute and the one we did get sent me a messaging saying (and I quote): "Please clamp the placenta and rap in inco sheet to keep warm". What?! Despite going in for a planned c-section (so the company knew the date), and despite regular updates that morning, the phlebotomist still arrived late (i.e. after the birth) and seemed unprofessional. Subsequently I've found their office staff aggressive and intimidating. They're extremely pushy and sale-sy. The explanation provided by the company about my contaminated sample was wildly insufficient. It is a common occurrence (so they say) and far more information should be provided by them if that's the case. They should also give you longer than 14 days to decide what to do. 14-days after having given birth is insufficient! In addition, you are unable to get out of the 25-year storage fee charges, even if you have your samples destroyed!

We have passed on your feedback to the phlebotomy company, who were a little surprised, as you had rated your phlebotomist 5 stars on the day. Whilst it is understandable that you were unsettled by the change in phlebotomist, this would only have been done so that the collection could be carried out as soon as possible. This was achieved, as the collection was performed 12 minutes after birth – which is within normal parameters and would not be considered a delay.
We always conduct sterility checks to see if any bacteria are present within the samples. Whilst contaminations are rare, due to the unsterile nature of birth, it is not possible to completely mitigate the risk. We provide as much information as we can about the implications of a given contamination, but the use of a sample will always depend on the specific circumstances of the patient and therapy, so it is rarely possible to be definitive. This is why you are given the option to store or dispose of a contaminated sample and pay no further fees should you choose disposal.
Should you choose to destroy a contaminated sample, it is not the case that you still have to pay the 25 year storage fees. These are always removed, so it sounds like there is some confusion in your case. Please do get back in touch with us to discuss this directly. Cells4Life Team.

Untrustworthy!! Keep them away for your baby's future

Update:
Another Lie by these guys down in their response. Phlebotomist turned up after 2+ hours since I informed them that baby is coming and mum is pushing.

They knew that the mum is 4cm dilated and is in active labour. They also know that Midwives are trying to speed up contractions.They also knew that it is second baby.
If their phlebotomist turned up by the time placenta delivered (at least), they would have collected good amount of cord blood.

My friends working in the research field from USA and other countries told me clearly that they don't think that the sample collected by them is of any use in any treatment.

The chances are nearly equal to winning a top jackpot in euro million lottery.

Birth is unpredictable and these guys are incompetent for collecting and storing the blood in unpredictable situations.

Any sensible service provider will arrange everything to reach the hospital and don't look for uber and trains (there are no trains direct to hospital. Train journey may take more than 2 hours to reach).

My advice: Don't get trapped by these bluffy and liers. They tells you that their phlebotomists are well trained and reach there on time but in reality they do not seem to be that competent from my experience.

We had a traumatic experience and missed a great opportunity.

Most untrustworthy service. I regret my whole life for selecting them for collecting and storing my kid's cord blood rather than approaching other providers.

Their service is too poor except their sales, customer service (to defend themselves after failing) and marketing team. They made false promises to trap us.

I am complaining to NHS to remove their posters from the hospitals as it is not fair to advertise and trap new parents into these incompetent service provider's fold.

During the complete birth process, I was giving them updates every 15-30 mins. When my wife pushing and Phlebotomist called us to say that she will not come if the baby is delivered.

Reached nearly 2 hours after we informed that baby is coming. Don’t know how to keep the placenta and cord safe.

My wife was so irritated that we need to call or message them a lot of times when the baby is just arriving and mum was pushing the baby.

Do you really want this traumatic experience when your wife is delivering? All the best.

The irony is: we received royal mail delivery to collect maternal blood as the collected blood is insufficient and asked us to pay for a phlebotomist to collect it. So you need to pay for their phlebotomist's inefficiency? If the phlebotomist is such an incompetent and inefficient, Imagine what they are going to collect? When I strongly wrote an email to them, they started saying that it was sent in error. Finally, the collected cord blood is not enough for processing by their boasted technology. This is our real-life experience.

They are not trustworthy. I will not recommend them for my enemies too. I wasted once in a life time chance.

You will not come to know if they are really storing your kid's cord blood or just taking money out of you for life.

Primary phlebotomist: 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes away (no traffic case), Backup: 1 hour away. The primary one transferred to backup with very short notice. The second one transferred to the third one after waiting a long for delivery. The third one is 1 hour 20 minutes away, My wife was already 4cm dilated and delivery is at any time. They use the words " Baby birth is unpredictable and occasionally it happens we miss it." When you are in the labour, you will deliver baby at any time. It is common sense.

How can a person staying nearly 2 hours away (with moderate traffic) reach to collect the blood on time? Never trust their responses to reviews.

Cells4Life is not even worth a single penny. It is not about money. You planned to give a great gift to your child, Don't miss this great opportunity by selecting these guys.

I did a very big mistake by trusting them and by ignoring my friends and a few genuine reviewers here.

Their response after wasting a great chance and after spoiling our birth experience was terrible If they come early, we would have got a good sample (good amount of cord blood and cells).

Their response to me when i asked them if the sample is any good for treatment : " I feel that it is important that you are aware that your Cord Blood sample is of a smaller size than we would usually see. Although it has passed our testing, there could be limitations on using this sample in therapy due to the number of cells within the sample. "

Don't assume that the sample that they collected will be useful for the treatment if needed because of their incompetent, uncoordinated, and inefficient phlebotomists and service.

Please keep away from these guys for your baby's future. I don’t have a word to describe their misleading words

We understand your frustration with the events that occurred on that day your child was born.

Following a thorough investigation into the phlebotomy service, unfortunately the labour was extremely unpredictable and despite constant communication between yourself and both phlebotomists, the collection was carried out 18 minutes after the placenta was delivered. We appreciate the delay may have impacted the volume of your sample but sadly the unpredictable nature of childbirth is an element of our service that cannot be completely mitigated against.

We believe that Phlebotomy UK's phlebotomists did the best they could to cover your collection and therefore do not see any phlebotomy error on this occasion.

With any stem cell sample we receive we always provide our customers with information on the quality and potential of that sample, but we cannot predict what that sample may be used for in the future. This can be a significant factor in the usability of a cord blood unit in therapy.

A great experience - ignore the other reviews! 🤩

Ill start by saying I don’t really understand the other reviews on here because I had a great experience with Cells4Life! I chose them because of the additional samples they can collect and because they can store more stem cells than any of the other providers. They’ve also been doing it a really long time which I thought was a good sign!

The lady who helped me get set up was really friendly and helpful. There’s quite a lot of information to take in and she was really patient with my questions. We didn’t at all feel harassed or pressured (which is why I don’t understand some of the other reviews) the whole thing was very relaxed.

When it came to the collection, what can I say! It was seamless! And we couldn’t believe how quickly the courier arrived!

Afterwards the good service continued and I really enjoyed getting back the results from the collection and our storage certificate.

Overall I would highly recommend Cells4Life and we plan to use them again for our next baby.

Really bad experience

Really bad experience, my friend asked me not to go with Cells4life but due to covid we didn’t had any other option and I regret going with cells4life.

Stay away from Cells4Life

Totally unprofessional They sent someone to the hospital who called and texted me all through the birth. Even sent me a voice memo. She was totally chaotic and caused a scene. My wife was so upset afterwards she did not want this scary woman to come near her. As she looked like she had no clue what she was doing. They then called me constantly that day looking for payment in full for an incomplete service. It appears to be a totally unprofessional outfit in my mind. They are now suing us for payment ! STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS

Apologies that you found your experience less than satisfactory. Having reviewed the details of your procurement, it is clear there was confusion between your hospital team and the phlebotomist, meaning the phlebotomist needed to contact you more frequently than would normally be necessary to ensure your stem cell collection took place in a timely fashion. Whilst we appreciate that this is not ideal during a such a precious time and are sorry that this was the case for you, collecting the cord blood as soon as possible after birth is crucial, as it can impact the volume of blood that is available.

Regarding the call that you received from us after the delivery, this was not to collect payment, but to organise procurement of a maternal sample. We would never ask clients for payment on the day of the birth and do not issue an invoice until samples have undergone initial testing at our laboratory.

As your samples passed all testing, payment fell due 14 days later.
