Clearly a phishing website! I was trying to get my usual car registration through the DMV and they emailed me that DMV is down and they will give me a quote. The quote is $100 more for nothing. Luckily, I looked at the numbers before I paid and went back to find the DMV website and pay what I actually owed. Always check and double check the website adress before putting any payment information!

These people are sneaky. They show up on Google looking like the CA DMV, only difference is that in my case they charge $90 more! Avoid these people! The same thing happened to my wife a few years ago.

This company exists solely to charge extra fees for services that the California DMV already provides directly, at no additional cost. There is absolutely no reason to register or renew a vehicle through this site instead of using the official CA DMV website.

The site is misleading by design. It appears prominently as a sponsored Google ad when searching for the legitimate DMV site, which led my spouse to click on it believing it was an official government service. At no point was it made sufficiently clear upfront that this is a private third-party company charging unnecessary fees.

Additionally, the default shipping option is pre-selected as next-day delivery, adding an extra $20 charge. While other shipping options exist, there is no legitimate reason for any shipping fee at all — the DMV mails registration documents and stickers at no cost when processed directly.

California already charges residents an arm and a leg for vehicle registration. The last thing consumers need is being misled into paying even more for a service that offers no added value and exists only because of consumer confusion.

This business model relies on deceptive search placement rather than transparency. I strongly caution others to avoid this site and use the official CA DMV website directly.

We had my wife’s car in Cabo and then got a notice that a smog check was required in order to get the car back to the US. Between Heidi, Kristen, jeff, daisy and Diana. They were all relentless in helping me get this car across the border. And I don’t mean two weeks, I mean four months they never ever gave up today we got the tags. They are scammers pretending to be the DMV website using SEO to make you click on their website and charging service fees you don't have to pay when you go to the DMV website directly. You get the same quick service at the DMV website without additional charges. They are just praying on people not paying attention. Your government services end in '.gov'. Commercial services sell for a profit and end in '.com'.

How does this happen? Large institutions can lose user account information. Then deceitful companies like carregistration.com collect your info and contact you and impersonate the original institution.

My senior mother got emailed from this company. The instructions said to pay car registration plus additional fees. But she hasn't owned the car for 3 years.

Didn't realize this wasn't the actual CA DMV website until right after I finished paying. There was a about $60 in additional fees to the registration renewal. I contacted customer service and they are refunding me with no questions asked. I will update once the refund is in my account if they refund in full or not.

This site is an absolute joke. My registration renewal was $289. These bastardos charged a service fee that totaled the cost to $359. Even though this is an official affiliate of the California DMV, it was my mistake for not making sure that is was the legitimate DMV website. Still, this site is a borderline scam by replicating the appearance and legitimacy of the actual DMV website that closely. I immediately called their customer service line and demanded a refund, which they did give me. Essentially, their business model is making money off of people by tricking them into thinking it's the actual DMV. But, I guess it's a good lesson and reminder for us consumers to slow down, read the fine print, and make sure we don't put ourselves in these situations by rushing through things.

I don't even know how this company got my email. I naively responded thinking it was affiliated with the DMV. It is a scammy third party website. This should absolutely be illegal. If you have to get your car smogged the smog place has no ability to notify them and you can not get ahold of anyone in customer service. However, going through the DMV the smog place contacts them directly. There is no purpose to this company except to scam. Shame on legislatures and lack of consumer protection to not do their jobs and protect consumers from nefarious companies like this.

Took my money and never sent me anything in the mail. RED FLAG when cheapest shipping says "not guaranteed" and sure enough I did not receive anything

This website tricks you into believing it is the DMV because it shows up as the first choice when you type in 'DMV California'. No one needs or wants to get charged extra for something free. I have already called my credit card company and will be submitting a dispute. Need to call the place on Monday to tell them I got trick into believing they are the DMV.

Like many previous reviews, why pay more for the same services DMV provides. Their website imitated to look like the official DMV website. I almost got duped too.

I think regulators should look into this company.

I paid for the extra fees to only find out they are not the DMV! I rather go there and pay! Then it says no guarantee delivery? What does that mean? How long is it suppose to take?! My dad paid for this! I can’t drive around with expired tags.

SCAMMERS! They scammed my wife into believing they were the DMV site. They charge an additional $60 for something you could do faster on the DMV site. Then there is nowhere on their site to enter the insurance info so you can't finish the renewal. Don't use this service!!

Didn’t realize I was not paying on the DMV site. Went over to the DMV site to pay again less than 2 mins later. requested to cancel the order, they refused. $30 for service fees $20 for shipping costs. Extra $10 for kicks and giggles, huge scammers and I hope they go bankrupt. Most likely won’t happen since called the DMV and they are “business partners”.

When I searched California DMV, I didn't notice it took me to carregistration.com and everything else looked like a legit CA DMV page. When I typed my license plate number, my car came right up. The service fee was $29.99, convenience fee $9.17 and shipping $16.50. Once I saw this I double checked where I was and went to where I thought I was in the first place and saved $55.66. Funny thing is if they weren't so greedy, they would probably make more money. There are a lot of scumbags out there, but it was almost my bad.

Clicked on the site because it was the first search result for my local DMV domain search. They wanted to charge $60 more than if I went to the actual DMV site, that's obviously when I realized that the DMV didn't get a new web design but these people are trying to scam people into thinking they are the DMV. Obviously I figured out it was a scam, others may not be aware that they're on a third party site and get ripped off.

Idk what these negative reviews are about but people love to complain about anything and everything. The service was excellent. Yes, you pay additional fees BUT it saves you having to wait hours at the dmv. This was such a life saver. I ordered my registration on Friday and received it on Tuesday the following week. So quick and easy. I’ll be doing everything on here moving forward.

Not what I expected. This is a very quick and easy service, but the price and experience could be better, not a happy customer.....
Track the fees

Worst customer service ever. I needed to get this done ASAP and could not wait for an appt at DMV (6 weeks out). I sent in all the paperwork on April 20th and waited for them to reply. I received a response that my copies were blurry, so I resent. On May 20 one MONTH later, I asked why havent I heard back? I get a response that maybe their emails went into my spam/junk folder. Nope not there... Told them so. they said please re-send documents. Once again I sent them, it's been a week now and still have not heard back from them. Now that my tags are expired and I will have to pay a fee, I guess I will be making that DMV appt after all.
