Arrived at the dealership and by chance parked next to what was my daughter’s new car. having called ahead 3/4days prior to make sure that the car would be ready for a swift collection so that I could drive straight on to a work commitment, we arrived to find the car absolutely filthy and not remotely ready for collection.
The car was unlocked so I looked in the drivers door to find the drivers cockpit dirtier than the outside of the vehicle.
Proceeded to walk into the dealership reception building and was directed to walk upstairs to wait for a member of staff to deal with our collection. Rebecca McLeod met us and was absolutely fantastic with dealing with the situation we found ourselves in, with a car that wasn’t fit to be collected in the atrocious state we arrived to find it….Particularly as we had made sure to arrange a speedy collection. She even offered to wash the outside of the car herself.
The collection was arranged for Friday. Funds for the car were sent and cleared on the Tuesday. Yet it took Rebecca 3 visits to the accounts department to find the funds after being told that the payment hadn’t arrived and the car hadn’t been paid for, when it had been days before collection.
2 hours later the car was finally handed over. The interior had a very unsatisfactory valet when we would expect it to have been detailed to look new. It had clearly been badly soiled in many areas.
Looked at back seat only to find one of the windscreen wipers on the back seat!!! Which we brought to the dealership’s attention and they said they didn’t have the part available on site. Another hour later the part was delivered and had to physically walk to the service dept to ask them to fit it as no one was proactive enough to get it done quickly. My daughter was waiting on her own for an extended time with no other transport and no idea what was going on with her newly purchased car. Almost 5 hours after arriving, the car was road worthy. With 15 miles worth of petrol left in the tank, and as she drove out of the dealership the service light came on her dashboard!!! Couldn’t wait any longer for any more help with the car. Apart from the lady dealing with us, I would like to point out that none of the staff had any pride in their work and the only important thing to them was how many cigarettes they could smoke in one day. There was a constant stream of staff members smoking at the back of the building our entire wait.
I never write reviews but this was THE most appalling experience of customer service I have ever endured. I never expected to turn up to a car showroom and see cars in such disrepair being sold to people. If a car held at the showroom looks too good to be true then more than likely it is. Couldn’t recommend any less.

Showing the car was great and the staff very up beat and helpful. BUT you do need to advise people of how you expect payment. I do not do phone banking and my limit on BACS transfers was not sufficient for the whole purchase price in one hit, so two payments over two days were required. You also need to be flexible on how you take a payment.

It has been the worst experience purchasing from Car Planet… I regret buying from them every day.
Since the case is still ongoing (since 3rd of July, so nearly 2 months now) I will update the review with details when it concludes, but as a quick summary they sold vehicle that wasn’t of satisfactory quality and needs nearly £1.5k worth of repairs, refused my 30 day rejection and returned the car after their inspection that clearly hit something, as front bumper is misaligned now.
Customer service/aftersales is a joke…

Buying a car from Car Planet has honestly been one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a business.

I purchased a car online and paid a £4,000 deposit. Once they had my money, it felt as though the level of interest and communication changed completely. The only time I seemed to get any real attention was when I started asking for my money back and considering going elsewhere.

I bought the car without seeing it in person, relying on a video from Car Planet. I was told the car was in mint condition and in perfect working order. Unfortunately, that was far from my experience.

When the car arrived, the passenger air vent was broken. It then became apparent that all four brake pads needed replacing. I spent the following two weeks making numerous attempts to get these issues resolved. Despite approximately 24 phone calls, the car remained sitting on my driveway.

The after-sales team were extremely difficult to deal with. Managers were repeatedly "unavailable" or "in meetings", and despite numerous promises that someone would call me back, the calls simply never came.

I eventually had no choice but to formally reject the car last Tuesday. Despite this, I received no formal response from Car Planet.

After yet more phone calls, the car was eventually collected by Car Planet. I then had to contact them myself just to find out whether they had actually received the vehicle.

At the time of writing this review, I still have no clear information about when my refund will be processed. Every time I contact them, I am told that someone needs to speak to a senior member of staff, but once again, nobody calls me back.

What makes this whole experience particularly upsetting is that I was already under pressure when I bought the car. I rushed into the purchase because I desperately needed reliable transport so that I could drive my mum to her chemotherapy appointments. I trusted what I was told about the condition of the vehicle, and that trust has unfortunately been misplaced.

I appreciate that problems can sometimes occur when buying a used car. What I find unacceptable is the lack of communication, lack of accountability and repeated broken promises to call me back when I have been trying to resolve the situation.

I would strongly advise anyone considering buying a car from Car Planet to think very carefully and do your own thorough checks before handing over any money.

My experience has been extremely disappointing, and I would not buy from them again.

Really efficient service from start to finish with a great range of cars to see. Appointment was on time, welcoming and explained the whole process from start to finish. Recommended.

My only negative, well two actually. One is like it feels like a cattle market, with numerous people being dealt with at once and overhearing other conversations. The main one for me was when the agent challenged another car dealership (pretending to be a buyer) I was due to go and see to prove the garage would not drop to my best offer, supposedly saving me time but this was very much degrading and embarrassing. No one likes a cocky dealership and although thinking this was doing me a favour, switched me right off and if it wasn’t for seeing another car, I would have walked. Far to pushy.

I bought my car from Car Planet (Barnet branch) in October 2025. In August 2026 I asked them for two basic documents any dealer should hold on file: the pre-delivery inspection report and the vehicle's full service history.

I've now sent three separate emails — 9 August, 13 August, and a formal written complaint with a clear deadline. Every single time, the only reply I've received has been an automated "your email will be reviewed" message. No documents, no explanation, no response from an actual person.

If you're thinking of buying from Car Planet, be aware that getting basic paperwork out of their aftersales team — even in writing, even with a stated deadline — has proven impossible so far. I'll update this review if that changes.

I couldn’t have imagined a smooth and interactive experience from Car Planet! The staff is so helpful and ever so ready to answer any questions. I’m truly greatful to Talha for all he had to do to make this somewhat paper full, intense vehicle probing and procedural event a simple feather float!! Now I’m enjoying my first car . I went to Car Planet purely to look at a Mercedes GLA and potentially test drive it; I definitely wasn’t expecting to leave having bought a car!

Ish was brilliant from start to finish. He was knowledgeable, honest and patient, and I never felt rushed into making a decision. Although I went in with the GLA in mind, he took the time to understand what I was actually looking for and showed me three other cars within a similar price range so I could properly compare them and make sure I was choosing the right one for me.

He truly seemed focused on making sure I was completely comfortable with my decision and getting me the best deal possible, which I really appreciated. Genuinely, brilliant customer service from everyone I interacted with at Car Planet.

I’m going back tomorrow to collect my car, and I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing Ish again and finalising everything. Couldn’t recommend him or Car Planet highly enough — I’d happily go back again 😊

Very disappointing experience with Car Planet

I booked a test drive and travelled all the way there, only to be told when I arrived that the car had already been sold. Nobody bothered to call or message me beforehand to let me know, despite having a test drive booked. That was a 2-hour round trip completely wasted.

The experience was made even worse by the atmosphere when I arrived. Some of the staff were smoking, swearing and shouting across to each other about sales in a way that was extremely unprofessional and made the place feel more like a building site than a professional car dealership.

I completely understand that cars can sell quickly, but if someone has specifically booked a test drive, the least you should do is contact them before they make a long journey. Very poor communication and customer service. I certainly won't be travelling back there or recommending Car Planet.
