We signed up with BT for our new business. Contacted BT 2 days before the launch and requested they send an engineer to investigate an issue with the broadband, the person on the other end insisted the BT hub is at fault and no need for an engineer’s visit. Meanwhile I had a spare hub and tried it, it didn’t resolve the issue. Called BT again day day before the launch and explained the outcome and Openreach engineer was scheduled in for 13th October 2026 to visit the store between 8am and 2pm and they never turned up- complete loss to my business and my time. Failure to turn up was not discussed with me either. Only when I contacted BT, I was told he didn’t turn up to any of his assigned jobs for the day.
An Engineer has been scheduled again for a visit today 14-10-2026 and i will update if we do get a visit or not. As a new business third day without a Broadband and incurring huge loss due to no card payments thanks to BT. Please if you need smooth running of your day to day business, do not go with BT at any cost. This isn’t my only bitter experience with them.
BT Local Business Scotland stay away
BT Local Business Scotland are the worst company we have dealt with as a business, Jamal Mahmood and Anthony Peters the supposed manager are absolutely useless, To start Jamal miss sold us some random EE SIM cards which we have now been told has nothing to do with cloud voice and when trying to get in contact with either of them they were always in a meeting or training, absolutely scandalous behaviour as they were supposed to get back in touch to help set us up with the new cloud voice, Our phone landline went down so we lost alot of business so we got in touch with BT themselves and they actually helped and got us set up, don’t ever use these scammers just go straight to the actual BT, When speaking to BT they were just as confused as we were as to why they sold us 2 EE sims all because bt local business phoned us telling us we need this to access the new cloud voice, they don’t want anything but a sale and will lie to achieve this stay as far away as possible.
Unresolved billing and static IP concerns, followed by a failing complaints process
We have been trying to resolve concerns with BT Business since August, including apparent double billing, duplicate broadband services at our premises and static IP addresses being changed without warning. A formal complaint was submitted on 25 August. More than five weeks later, key questions remain unanswered despite numerous emails.
The static IP issue is particularly concerning because we use these addresses to identify the connections that need PCI compliance scanning. Changes without notification create a risk that our scans are checking outdated addresses while active connections are missed. We have had to spend considerable time checking which services and IP addresses belong to each location.
Alongside this, we are still trying to establish why multiple services exist at the same premises, which are actually being used and whether refunds are due. Getting a clear, consolidated account of our own services should not be this difficult.
The complaints process has added to the frustration. I have now received four repeated follow-up emails that neither acknowledge my responses nor answer the outstanding questions. There may be a problem with BT’s email system or internal records, but we are left sending replies without any meaningful progress.
The Devon and Cornwall BT Local Business team have been copied into the correspondence, and I have now asked them directly to intervene and arrange for someone to take ownership.
We need clear billing records, accurate information about our connections and proper answers to the concerns we have raised. Instead, we are spending more time chasing the complaint than getting the original problems resolved.
Utter con merchants!!
I wish that back in January I knew what I now know about BT Business Local. They are NOT BT - they're a franchise that are allowed to pretend to be BT. They came in to our company (which runs 3 computers - we aren't a big business) and they told us we had absolutely no choice but to sign a 5 year contract with them to have a lease line. Our BT bill went from about £200 a month to £650 a month and there is nothing we can do about it! BT are absolute con merchants and do not deserve to be the big name in phones and broadband. I'm now stuck throwing away thousands of pounds to them every month because they lied to us and were not transparent in what they were telling us. Absolutely disgraceful and I will do everything I can to help other avoid the same thing happening to them. I'd rather being giving my money to Elon Musk and Starlink than BT!!
Would give 0 stars if I could
Would give 0 stars if I could. Absolutely disgusting company and how BT associate themselves with these scammers I will never know. Nothing but liars tried to con me into a 5 year contract saying thats how it is when I said no, can then suddenly drop to 3 years. Went with another provider in the end and then they do not stop calling you. Was told our business phone would stop working in 2 weeks, when still said no the girl said 'well don't call us when it all goes wrong'. Avoid like the plague!!

Adam Sayers cold called and sold me a new deal then every month I was double charged until eventually the real BT business (not Jtalk who the actually are) took it over after hours of trying to sort out a litany of incompetence. Avoid avoid avoid! The real BT will be taking action against there franchise.
Don't go near them
Don't go near them. The most incompetent group of individuals I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
This is the email I have sent
This is the email I have sent, I will be escalating to BT and then the ombudsman. Terrible service and communication.
Hi Simon,
Well, what can I say. We are certainly not happy at all with your service and communication skills. We are still trying to mop up the misinformation you gave us let alone sold us.
With not replying to emails phone calls,.promising to ring back, blaming different job roles stating
' let me know when its resolved'
This was you who should have been communicating with us, not passing the buck to someone else.
I am just trying to terminate the BT One Phone (that we are still paying for) that you told us was ceasing; but you also stated that we were leaving our contract ealry, and there will be a charge of breach of contract, but you will speak to them and try to get this taken off! Was that you trying to help? Or just a sales tactic?
This BT cloud voice like I said was not fit for purpose as in Buxton the signal is very poor, something that we shared with you many times. But you insisted was fine as long as we bought more data.
The BT 1 phone worked perfectly fine with our business. We did not have to swap on to BT cloud voice! Let alone pay for both Systems thats why as you know we were restricted. As we didn't know anything about ceasing the BT 1 phone. Until we both found out when it was too late.
You never mentioned about webex app that we needed, said it was the same. Then also told us that we need to have more data otherwise it will not work.
Told us thay we needed ee data sims that were special and licenced at a cost of £60 per month. That never came as we wanted to know why they were special and what were the difference than a normal sim ee card only?
I have spent many hours on this, sleepless nights due to the phones being off, the signal cutting out, the phone calls being dropped and still does. Our business has and still is suffering by this as you know that it relies on phone calls being a taxi firm.
Obviously I will be escalating this to BT compliants.

Trustpilot Review – P & M Auto Repairs Ltd
BT: We asked for fibre and phones… what we ended up tied into felt completely different
So, where to begin…
We went to BT because we thought we were getting something simple — fibre broadband and a phone system for our garage. Nothing unusual, nothing complicated, just a reliable setup that suited a small business. BT have been going years so they must be the best, we thought.
We had already been through problems with another telecoms provider and genuinely believed BT would help simplify things and take care of us. Especially with them being told of what had happened to us.
What we ended up with felt very different from what we thought we were agreeing to.
In October 2025, we entered into an agreement with BT Local Business believing we were getting fibre and phones. That is what we asked for and what we understood was being arranged.
What later became clear was that a leased line (BTnet) had also been included — something we never specifically believed we were asking for and did not properly understand at the time. We are a small garage, not a media company!
And here’s the part that still makes absolutely no sense to us.
The leased-line service was installed but was never meaningfully used by the business.
So how does a small garage business end up tied into a contract for a service it never really needed and doesn’t even use? It honestly started to feel like we had been sold something far more complicated and expensive than was ever necessary.
That is not what we believed we were signing up to.
Then came the installation issues.
BT installed fibre on 30 December 2025, and we reasonably expected the phones to be installed and working at the same time. They weren’t. That immediately created confusion about what was included, what had actually been agreed, and when things were supposedly going live properly.
Before installation even happened, we kept being told there could be problems because BT believed we were on the second floor. We explained multiple times that we are on the ground floor, yet the confusion just kept continuing. That does not exactly fill you with confidence that things were properly assessed before the agreement was put in place.
Looking back now, the biggest issue is the complete lack of clarity.
We asked for something straightforward, but what we appear to have been tied into was something much more complex that was never properly explained in a way a normal small business owner could realistically understand.
The difference between standard fibre and a leased line was never made properly clear to us. Had it been explained transparently, we would have been in a completely different position when making decisions.
As a small business, you rely on clear advice and honest information from experts. In our experience, that simply did not happen here.
My advice to any small business considering BT is this:
Be very careful.
Do not assume the setup being discussed is as straightforward as it sounds.
Do not assume you are only getting what you specifically asked for.
And absolutely do not sign anything unless you fully understand exactly what services are being included and whether you genuinely need them.
Also, we found this out recently; make sure you know who your local BT business is as opposed to “BT Local Business”. These Limited companies operate in partnership with BT and are all different quality depending on where you are. They AREN’T BT and BT will just point you to them to deal with. Then they will say it’s BT. You will be stuck in the middle. Hopefully your business will survive.

Absolutely awful, don’t be fooled by them, deal direct with bt Buisness NOT BT LOCAL BUISNESS,i was under the impression I was dealing with bt but they are not the same!!,i contacted BT direct and raised a complaintand they are investigating as I am paying way more than price agreed on contract!!,I used the Cornwall and Devon branch BT LOCAL BUISNESS,and there sales manager never replies to call or messages as soon as you sign a contract,DO NOT TRUST THEM!!,
Terrible service
Terrible service. Hounded by Steve Eddlestone whom has made a mess of our account, we are overpaying. He told ourtight lies and now we are left in a mess and paying twice as much and he refuses to respond or call me back. Avoid at all costs
Misleading sales, false promises, and months of wasted time
I have been a loyal BT Business customer for over 6 years. I have never missed a payment and have always trusted BT. Unfortunately, my recent experience has been extremely disappointing and stressful.
When I originally signed my contract through BT Local Business, I was clearly assured that if I ever sold my business, I would either be able to cancel the contract or transfer ownership to the new owner without any issues. I only agreed to the contract based on this assurance.
After selling my restaurant, this promise was not honoured.
Instead of processing a transfer, BT sold a completely new contract to the new owner and then attempted to charge me approximately £400 as an early termination fee. When I refused, both myself and the new owner were left with two separate contracts at the same address, including duplicate internet lines and phone numbers, which is completely unreasonable for a single business.
Over the past 5 months:
* I submitted formal complaints (N230115-337007 and N230115-337006) and received no response
* I was passed between multiple representatives (Elliot, Nakul, Luke, Deepak, Khushi)
* I was repeatedly given assurances that were never fulfilled
* I was pressured into more expensive packages that I did not request
* I experienced repeated delays and lack of accountability
* I was asked to sign documents without proper explanation
At one point, I was even encouraged to proceed with an Apple Watch order as part of resolving the issue, which was incorrectly addressed and never delivered.
Despite remaining a paying customer, I have been charged for a service I have not used since December.
Out of desperation, I even agreed to keep my contract active and simply transfer my number. Even this basic request has still not been completed.
This experience goes beyond poor customer service and raises serious concerns about transparency and sales practices.
I have now escalated this matter to the Ombudsman.
Anca Kelman - Professional, helpful and kind.
Anca Kelman is an outstanding lady, I had numerous issues with BT over the past 6 months which I was struggling to rectify, Anca took my matter in hand immediately with kindness and professionalism, I am now absolutely delighted with the BT package she set up for me, a big thank you to her team too. Well done !!
AVOID
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID
Business crippling, exceptionally poor service, cannot provide timescales to rectify their mistakes and incompetence.
Do not trust these people, with your people.
Fantastic experience with BT Local Business High Wycombe
We have had a wonderful experience with BT Local Business, and I feel its important to let everyone know that trustpilot is not just for complaints. I have no complaints at all, the service and support has been excellent and we had a rather compilated install as well - Zabina Akthar from the High Wycombe office was the best person for us. She is patient, knowledgeable and really helpful. She has been supporting us for a few months and has even gone the extra mile to help complete our project and help with a few areas (eg technical support matters) which normally companies would push to a faceless different department.
I would highly recommend both Zabina and this office to anyone wanting telecoms, broadband or mobile solutions.
Fraudulent transfer of a number
Fortunately we have not had any contractual agreements with this company but they have carried out fraudulent activity with claiming a phone number of our business, so that they can sign up another company which had been trying to claim and use that number. I would not recommend using this company.
Nothing short of a scam
Nothing short of a scam! BT local business contacted me to say my contract was up for renewal and they could provide the same service with no downtime for the same price. Ok, I thought that’s straight forward. It was anything but. They deliberately mislead me opening an account I didn’t need running along side my existing account. I have been trying to sort this out for 8 months!! You can’t speak to anyone in BT local the blame accounts and pass for pillar to post. My advice would be to stay well clear of anyone calling from a company calling themselves BT local business.
If i could give 0 stars i would DO NOT USE THEM
If i could give 0 stars i would miss sold phones and broadband by shane from yorkshire office then tried to cancel everything was told by carly murry would be getting cancelled then didnt hear from them couldnt get in touch via email or via telephone i am now taking this matter to a solicitor they are the worst company ever to deal with DO NOT BUY FROM THEM DO NOT EVEN BOTHER TAKING THERE CALLS THEY ARE NOT BT THEY ARE SCAMMERS
I wished that I had read the bad…
I wished that I had read the bad reviews before placing an order with these people.
They promise the earth and deliver nothing and then disappear when you sign the Contract.
Even when promises from them are in writing it gets altered on the contract and they never mention the 5 year contract they get you to sign until its to late.
