The messaging we use focuses primarily on women because, sadly, women are much more likely to develop breast cancer than men – and for this reason, they’re also more likely to die from the disease. By drawing attention to the huge numbers of women that breast cancer affects in the UK, we can make the most compelling case for our research and why supporting us is so important. But I’d like to reassure you that ultimately, the money we raise funds research into stopping both women and men dying from the disease.

This is the answer I got back from them, about why men are not on their adverts about breast cancer, as men can get it also ,I feel they are just ignoring men who are just as important as women, their message states it's because women are more open to it than men ,that's bullshit ,we should be treated equally, it's only the same as there are more men playing football but we got to treat women the same, weather it's only one man with breast cancer, he should be treated the same of those thousands of women with the same issue

While breast cancer is much more prevalent in women and they feature primarily in our work, more needs to be done to raise awareness of breast cancer in men and we recognise the importance of sharing a diverse range of experiences of breast cancer.

As well as the support we offer to men and research we fund, like The Male Breast Cancer Study, men feature in some of our marketing campaigns and we share personal stories of men affected by breast cancer in the press to help raise awareness.

We’ve shared your feedback about representation of men in our TV adverts with our team for future consideration, and we’ve kept a written record of it under our Complaints Policy.

Door knocking

Sending out door knockers at all times of the day and night is unacceptable and not a good look for the charity. 8.30 pm on a winter evening is not right. Can you imagine how the elderly feel having someone knock at their door that late?

I wasn't happy that after I completed…

I wasn't happy that after I completed the form in person I was then asked via a phone call ro repeat information about myself. I am going to cancel my direct debit donation as a result of this. I feel my information may be at risk of fraud. Not happy. You have lost my donations as a result of your procedures of the follow up call.

Shame oh her, Shame on you!

When is an Ambassador not an Ambassador.
it's when a person who is supposed to be an Ambassador to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Now has an article in the Mail about a scare, a breast lump due to her implants, which are then removed. Who makes no reference what so ever about breast cancer awareness at all, other than a scare.
Shame on Josie Gibson and shame on Breast Cancer Now for supporting an Ambassador that only talks about her scare and raises no awareness what so ever about breast cancer.

Chaotic and disorganised charity

Have donated to this charity for many years by buying raffle tickets when they send them Spring, Summer etc. Usually I pay by cheque and more recently by completing the form that is enclosed with the tickets to pay by debit card. Have noticed, though, that the payment is never taken until after the raffle has taken place and today I phoned because the completed form I sent nearly 3 weeks ago with bank details for raffle tickets and a donation had not shown on my bank statement. The people I spoke to were, although pleasant, quite disorganised. My letter, after investigation, was in a basket with approximately 200 others waiting for my details to be loaded on to the computer. I wouldn't like to think that my entries and those of others are not being registered until after the raffle has taken place. Quite worrying !!

For a good cause so decided I'd play…

For a good cause so decided I'd play the lottery for £8 a month, hoped that would be the end of it (after baby being woken up by initial door knock).

For some reason they've found it appropriate to phone me twice a day at 11am and 3pm without fail.

Seriously who's running things over there who thinks phoning someone 16 times in 8 days is going to keep people signed up?

Number has been blocked and I'll be cancelling my direct debit.

Polite approach at supermarket

Two young men approached me at the entrance to our local supermarket. They were very polite and explained the work of the charity and how I could make a monthly donation. This was followed up by a phone call when my queries were answered clearly. I’m happy to continue with my donation and I understand how I could stop donating if my circumstances change.
However, as with other charities, significant amounts are paid to a number of people who run the charity.

Aggressive charity muggers standing in…

Aggressive charity muggers standing in shop doorways in Corstorphine Edinburgh. Specifically the Co-op on St John's Road and Tesco Meadowhouse Road. Update - they are now knocking on people's doors. And Boots the Chemist ask if you want to donate to them when placing an online order - NO I DO NOT! Worst charity ever. (Don't forget the charity muggers wishing cancer on anyone who declines to sign up for a direct debit at their door -we've all seen the Ring Doorbell footage).

Annoying door knockers

Many people in our village near Durham very unhappy with this charity. “Chugger” door knockers working in pairs, knocking on doors wanting donations. Called at properties not once but twice a few hours apart and at 9pm at night, waking children up and causing the elderly concern. No way to conduct your business, makes us all determined NOT to donate rather than do so!!!
