Scam of return to gift card.

After issues with a return dating back to November 2025 I have been informed I received a gift card, that ‘I selected’. I have emails and communication from customer service stating the refund would be to my original payment method (Klarna). This goes against my consumer rights, I did not select a gift card, and customer service is completely failing to discuss this issue.

No customer service

No communication except with endless chatbots that keep you in an endless loop. Trying to get refund on faulty item I think they hope you will give up so they can keep the money. Been a customer for years but will not be ordering again. Avoid! Didn’t want to give even one star.

Wrong items arrived, Poor Customer Service

Wrong items arrived; the colour of the product that arrived absolutely did not match the picture on the website (Red and Brown are miles apart). Trying to talk to a human for customer service help is a truly painful experience of needing to repeat yourself endlessly, going in circles, and never getting a clear answer. No response via email and bots on the other messaging platforms.

Would not recommend shopping here. I know I used to years back when it first popped up, but Boohoo has truly gone downhill since then.

Respectfully, spend more time and money on your customer service than you do on your marketing. No point attracting customers if you're unable to retain them.

Absolutely disgusted at the service I’ve received from boohoo. I’ve been a repeat customer now for years and never had issues until recently
I made an order for my Christmas do and then the parcel was so delayed that it missed the event (I’m talking over a week delayed) so I had to return the items. When I’ve returned them they sneakily sent an email confirming the return to original payment method. I’ve since learnt they actually refunded to a gift card, claiming that I asked for this gift card and that they cannot give me a refund to my original payment method! I have tried to resolve with them but it’s just AI bots and you’re never actually put through to an agent. I will be taking this further and never will use boohoo again - scammers! Avoid!

Shocking customer services and return process

Twice I have had to go to PayPal and dispute my boohoo refund. Both times they have had tracking showing delivery and boohoo have claimed not to receive them.. this time they didn't contact me for 6 days after they received it and I had to go to them, only to get stuck in a proof of delivery request loop...
There sizing can be widly off, I ordered a size UP and got something 2 sizes below. Not always tho I've had quite a few true to size stuff so it's a guessing game. Qaulity is hit and miss, I got a beautfiful dress for my cousins wedding for £20, I got a skimpy co-ord that looked NOTHING like the picture. If you are gonna order would recommend PayPal for protection or at least a credit card and read the reviews for each thing.

Nightmare returns no customer service

As others have noted, nightmare returns process - and you have to pay to return, which is high risk with the poor standard of clothing they sell. Thats if you can get the returns process to work (only managed to organise a return after hours going round in circles with a chat bot and then waiting several days for a human customer service advisor to respond. There also seemed to be an issue that i couldn't remember if i'd ever returned to them before and which courier I used on that occasion. Why would I remember that?!

Boohoo keeping my money against my will. I refunded an order they claim I selected gift card refund which I did not. I’ve spoke to numerous agents regarding this clearly they’ve all been trained to steal customers money. I will never order from boohoo again. Boohoo you’ve lost a customer of many years !

Boohoo premier scam/ difficult to reach customer service

Already have boohoo premier, ordered a top which said it would take up to 4 days to be delivered. Ordered another and had to pay for next day delivery - which never arrived next day!

Sent 2 messages through WhatsApp but the answered the first message but ignored the 2nd message. Difficult to resolve anything!

DO NOT BUY from this company if you want to keep your sanity and your money. Their so called customer service is laughable. On the rare occasion when they do reply they just reply nonsense. My order has been under investigation since 3rd December! No reply since then! I have been asked to private message Jamie and still not resolved. Perhaps Kai could get involved as some of the 5 star reviews which pop up amongst all the 1 star reviews mentions how this Kai has sorted all their problems out.
Also be very careful of outside scammers too. They pretend to be a manager and want to refund you your money but they ask you to download Lemfi. So if you don’t get shafted by Debenhams you get shafted by them too. Debenhams should cease trading before more customers lose their money.

Awful customer service

If I could give a 0 I would. I received my item and it came faulty, I went straight to customer service to return the item. It has almost been a week and nothing has been solved, I’ve been sent multiple links and every one of them has not worked and I’ve been told I have to pay for the return even though it came faulty! Customer service is mainly done by AI so no shock the service is awful. Honestly wouldn’t even bother ordering from them.

Never buy from here

Tried say they will refund me with a gift card saying thats what I selected when I know I did not. Items returned and received confirmation 9 December 2025 but no refund yet and its 4 Feb 2026. I will never buy again from here.

‼️UPDATE ON GIFT CARD SCAM‼️

Like many many others I was victim to the gift card refund scam. However DO NOT BACK DOWN. I have today received a full refund to my original payment method despite them saying this isn’t possible. IT IS!! I’ve been fighting since late December.
Use RESOLVER. It’s a free service. They fought for my money back. I have also reported to trading standards and watchdog to investigate. This company is going down.

Criminals who are going out of business so beware!

I am not going to go on here as there are so many issues that I would be here all day. I suggest anyone with issues should go to r/boohoocomplaints on Reddit and show the world the issues you are having (while reading about mine).

I would advise no one to spend a penny with them, this company is about to go out of business!

Id give zero if I could. Had my return for 2 weeks now and havent issued my refund and have kept ignoring my emails and WhatsApp. Criminals, they belong in prison.

BOOHOO are scammers!!!

Like everyone else in these reviews are saying they 100% scam you out of your money through their refund process. You will hardly ever get to speak to a real human being. It is usually AI and then when a human does respond they say the same exact thing- that i selected gift card refund when i obviously would never do that for almost £100. It’s absurd. They are just constantly gaslighting and lying.
Please please avoid shopping there.

Screen record!!! You clicking on return to original payment. Please please SCREEN RECORD! they cannot dispute you screen recording your return process.

So you’re all protected when they say you selected the gift card.

Also the protection the add on….well you’re covered from ALL of those things under consumer law and consumer contracts. So that’s a complete scam.

After all of this I won’t be using boohoo again sadly.

It’s gone very downhill after reading the 700 odd bad reviews and of course my own experience.

Gift card for returns Items!



 

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 0/5 – Do NOT order from boohoo
I strongly advise anyone considering ordering from boohoo to think twice. Their customer service and refund process are incredibly rigid and unfair.
After returning items, I was told that my refund must be issued as a gift card — despite me clearly stating that I did not want this. Below is the response I received from their customer service team:
“Hi
Thanks for getting back.
I understand that you do not want your refund issued to a gift card.
I have checked your account and can see that the Gift Voucher refund option was selected when the return was created at 6:29am on 25th November 2025.
Please note that when creating a return, you are given the option to choose a refund to the original payment method or to a Gift Certificate.
These options are clearly displayed online, and any selection made at this stage is final once you proceed.
Unfortunately, once a refund option has been selected, we are unable to change or cancel it.
I’ll go ahead and consider this matter closed for now, and I really appreciate your understanding.

What’s frustrating is that there is no flexibility, no escalation, and no willingness to help — even when a customer explains they don’t want store credit. Declaring the matter “closed” without resolving it is dismissive and poor customer service.
Mistakes happen, but a company that refuses to help and locks your money into a gift card you don’t want is not one I trust. If you value fair refunds and being treated like a human being rather than a checkbox, do not order from boohoo.

Their refund system is very poor

Their refund system is very poor. Bought numerous items, after trying them on they don’t fit is unsuitable, up to 21 days to get your money back after a prompt return.
I like the site but I wouldn’t buy again because of their returns policy.
