Bluesmatch dating site blues.......
This is a dating site for members of Oxbridge and the Ivy League ie. Oxford, Cambridge and 8 well-known universities in the Northeastern United States including Harvard, Princeton and Yale.
A questionnaire has to be completed - in common with most other dating sites - detailing your eligibility and once this has been confirmed, you receive confirmation of membership.
However, whilst initially there are two days to send ( but not receive ) messages free of charge, thereafter, you have to become a subscriber to be able to send and receive unlimited messages. The cost is as follows:
12 months (£11.99 / month)
6 months (£14.99 / month)
3 months (£19.99 / month)
1 month (£29.99 / month)
Membership is claimed to be over 5000 currently, although this is world-wide. I would estimate that at least 20% of members have chosen not to display a picture, and there are quite a few who have not accessed the site for a while. In fact of 2 ladies selected as matches for me today, one last logged on last September, and the other last October! Just updated this as I checked on numbers of members lacking a picture, and out of 129 members matching my specifications 36 had no picture, so that is 28% . Which is very high for a site where credentials are likely to have been checked before granting membership.
It would appear that Blues Match Limited operates the site, and this is a Wimbledon based private limited company incorporated in February 2007 and having 2 employees. It has a net deficit of £50729 which is principally a loan to an associated company SKRL Limited.
The turnover is probably quite modest for a niche business, and in view of the restricted, though undoubtedly appealing, nature of the client base is likely to remain so.
I was reluctant to pay any money at all as I have my doubts about the level of response that might be forthcoming, and sadly have come to the conclusion that the site is little different from all the others, initially luring people in with a Join Free slogan.
Maybe I am too cynical but my initial excitement soon faded , so I hope there are not too many other people who may have been similarly disappointed.
