BetBlocker blocks both Robinhood and Kalshi. If you can still access those sites, you've missed a setting change during set-up. Please contact our support team at admin@betblocker.org to get assistance to correct this issue.

For your information, if you type any url into the Suggest a Site feature in the app, or on our homepage, you can quickly and easily see whether the site is blocked, or whether you have a technical issue and should contact support.

Since October, BetBlocker has had 12 reviews on Trustpilot. Of those 12, almost half (5 - 29/10, 25/11, 24/12, 2/2, 7/2) have been posted by you.

To put this in some context, in the same time period BetBlocker supported 161,200 unique active users worldwide.

Admin permissions are required for BetBlocker to prevent removal of the block, but you should be aware that your phone auto-generates the user notification where an app requests these permissions. We can't control this message that you're shown to detail specifically what BetBlocker actually accesses (we can't read anything you write on your phone, access your emails, banking apps or anything remotely similar).

If you're interested in what information our charity actually collects/has access to, you should read our privacy policy. BetBlocker is all about anonymity. We want you to feel as secure as possible whilst still delivering the protections you've asked for.

Hi Vikki,

If it wasn't blocking, that's because you've missed the necessary setting changes during set-up.

From that point of view, Gamban and BetBlocker function in exactly the same way. You didn't get BetBlocker "free from a gambling site". Some gambling operators choose to signpost the free support that that we provide to anyone, anywhere, no matter how they find out service.

The fact that BetBlocker is a charity that provides the support free of charge isn't what's making the difference and unlike BetBlocker, Gamban is provided free by some gambling operators, who directly buy licenses from the business to give to their customers.

Firstly, we're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with BetBlocker.

In response to your concerns:

The Vivaldi app is not blocked by BetBlocker. If it was inaccessible whilst BetBlocker was active, that is a technical issue that you need to contact our support team - admin@betblocker.org - to resolve. It's almost certainly due to one of the setting changes being missed during set-up and as such would be easy to address.

As to there being a "better, safer, and more transparent":

- Better - we're constantly looking for way to make the app easier to access and more effective, but the nature of blocking software means we're always fighting the operating system. Our users need an app that cannot be removed. No OS wants to allow app developers to release an app that can't be removed as if they can do that they can release a virus that can't be removed. So a level of complexity is unfortunately a natural consequence of the product.

- Safer - Again we're constantly working to make the block stronger and as such safer for the people that need our support. You've found a loophole, but it is a loophole that requires a number of other things to be true before it would be accessible.

- Transparent - We are required to be very transparent about the way the app works to be allowed into either of the major app stores, detailing the exact nature of the function of the app, and consequences of activating a block, repeatedly and with clear user require consent opt-ins throughout the set-up process.

Thank you for your praise of the project's goals. However, we would respectfully ask you to reconsider parts of your review, removing information that may tip-off people who really need our support as to ways they might circumvent it.

Responding to your 2nd July 25 edit:

i) BetBlocker does block Binance.

ii) The words in question have definitions that aren't opinion based. The point is not about descriptive vs emotive. It's about literal definition.

iii) No-one's reporting you to Trustpilot. We're happy to let this review stand as you've written it.

iv) Thank you for sending your email address through. There has been a problem here. Whilst I can see two email from you (02/04 and 05/06) in our email servers, these are not present on our User Support ticketing system. As such, they've not received a response from an agent.

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to you for this breakdown in support.

Responding to your July 25 Edit - I'm requesting you send your email address and I'll review your contact with our support team personally.

The "settings managed buy your organisation" is nothing to do with BetBlocker. Your router issue may be a problem with your ISP enforcing its own moderation protocols. But if this was the case a) we'd need to investigate further and b) the same thing would happen with Gamban, as they use exactly they same approach/technology. to enforcing their desktop block.

Crypto - this is already blocked by BetBlocker. If you've found some crypto sites that you could access, we have a Request a Site feature that allows you to submit urls for review. To suggest that BetBlocker doesn't block crypto is flatly wrong.

Whilst we disagree with a lot of what you've chosen to post in your review - including using emotive phrases like "torjan", "virus" and "spyware" that are based on nothing more than your frustration and intended to provoke fear in other users - we are glad to hear that you have found Gamban effective and hope that it remains so going forward.

1) No one said you had installed both. We provided an explanation for WHY we restrict Gamban: because installing Gamban whilst BetBlocker is active would cause users significant technical problems.

2) Reviews come through to a different team. We understand your frustration - if our email support has missed your email you should feel free to send them a reminder.

P.S. - Gamban is widely promoted by the gambling industry, in exactly the same way as BetBlocker. It functions in an identical manner to BetBlocker, only excluding some additional functionality that BetBlocker provides in the form of the Scheduling option, the Parental Controls and many additional languages supported.

The actual difference between Gamban and BetBlocker is that Gamban is run as a business, charging users to access support, whilst BetBlocker is operated as a charity and provides the service free of charge.

Hi Petr,

i) Users should NOT install both BetBlocker and Gamban. These programs use the same systems and end up fighting over control of them and causing all sorts of other issues. So yes, we block Gamban whilst you have an active block so users don't inadvertently create unexpected issues.

ii) If you uninstall the app before your exclusion has ended, it doesn't remove the block, only the system that would deactivate the block.

iii) If your exclusion period has ended, you still need to go back into the app to confirm deactivation and start any cooling-off period that may be applicable.

iv) We cannot give you technical support over review platforms like Trustpilot without endangering other users. Please contact our support team at admin@betblocker.org.
