I cannot thank the BB4x4 team enough for the recent Somme tour, the historical content & the amount of research done by Keith for my great uncle VC MM was nothing short of amazing, the team worked so hard in terrible weather to make the whole experience one my wife and I will never forget. I booked a tour for October 22 that was cancelled a few weeks before, I rebooked again for March 23 which on enquiring this week has also been cancelled. Before spending money on crossings, hotels, insurance, breakdown cover, preparing the truck etc bear in mind it may all be a waste of time and money. I was refunded for the tour but nothing else.

If you are looking to see the WW1 battlefields from a different angle with experienced guides and have a 4 x 4 then this is the tour for you.

The Tour was personalized to allow members to see sites that had particular relevance to them, this did not detract from the tour.

Accommodation was adequate, the organized meal on the first evening was a great way to get to know your fellow tour members.

I really appreciated the opportunity to visit to the battlefields, memorials and cemeteries, and other sites of interest along a section of the Western Front route from Ypres to Arras and the Somme, which were particularly poignant in wintertime.
The off-road sections were huge fun - and of course quite muddy in places - but it was a real treat to be able to visit places that were literally 'off the beaten track'.
The commentary over the CB radios during the drive, and in-person at the various sites, was excellent and evocative and my companion also found the tour both interesting and engaging.
Huge thanks to Nick, Carl and Keith for curating such an unforgettable experience, and for taking the time to show some of us where our relatives had lost their lives over 100yr ago.
A really great weekend overall, and I very much hope we will join you again before long on another tour.

D Day tour 4th/6th June 2022.
Been waiting to do this tour since 2019, and we were not disappointed!
Led by Nick and Historian Keith, we were shown the sites of Battle Grounds and Beaches of June 6th and beyond.
We were lucky to be accompanied by another 4 crews, who were great company.
Special thanks to Carl for organising the Memorial service seating for us, it was an honour to attend with the few veterans who were able to make it.
It was quite an emotional service and well attended at Bayoux British Cemetery.
Looking forward to the next tour, next year!

An excellent tour...seeing more of the sites of the D-Day landings and learning the history, of which we were not aware. Leaders were brilliant company and everything was well organised. Catered for those of all abilities.
Great fun as well as sombre moments. Would highly recommend these tours.

What a truly amazing, moving and massively interesting tour based on the movement of the front line around the Somme.
Nick and his team of experts showed us their expertise and knowledge about the facts and more human side of World War 1 including some fascinating visits to towns and museums that witnessed the fighting first hand.
I would recommend Battlefields by 4x4 unreservedly - thanks Nick and the team and we hope to see you again for another trip.

I would highly recommend Battlefieldsby4x4 ,I organised a group of 20 2x5 vehicles 2 groups and every single person had a fantastic experience .They organised everything bar the weather:). Kieth and Nick were brilliant at delivering the commentary and information .Some of our group were also able to follow in the steps of ancestors who fought in the war and visit there resting places ,something that was emotional for all involved ..It was my 2nd tour and the passion they have is amazing ..

It was extremely professional in its content, format and execution. The military historians were superb and really turned the whole trip into a continuous story. We can’t imagine a better way of understanding the events on the western front than was presented on this trip. The inclusion of a tour around the CWGC Head Office in Arras demonstrated the astonishing dedication, respect and attention to detail that is part of everything they do

The Latest Somme tour finished a week ago today. it was my second experience with the great team of Nick, Carl and Keith. it is really well organised and Keith's commentary as we potter round the battlefield, paints a picture that fires the imagination. it is also a huge learning experience. As ever, it is the extras that make the difference, and the team put together a detailed file on my Great Uncle, who is one of the many who has no resting place, but is commemorated along with another 38000 at Tyne Cot. I am very grateful for this. Discovering there was a bugler in our party also made the end to day 2 very special for all of us. Great job guys. Planning is taking place for next year. See you then. Great experience & great atmosphere within the group. The battlefield team really do go above & beyond. Well organised from start to finish & the in-depth knowledge from the team is astounding. If your thinking of doing a tour with these guys honestly just do it - they will not disappoint.

If I'm honest, I went on this tour, initially, to keep my husband company! He was the one with the main interest in both the green laning and also WW2. I had only a passing interest in laning and respectful but limited knowledge of WW2... However, this tour was so good that it has changed my perspective and interest on both. The organisational talents of our tour guides were fantastic. They got us to events, with fantastic views, just before the event started. Including managing to get into Bayeux when the Gendarmes had closed most access points. Their depth of knowledge as we travelled around was excellent and delivered at a great pace, never too much or too little. The atmosphere in the group was fab. Excellent experience all round. Definitely recommend it to other 'rookies' like me! Will be booking with them again.

we were privileged enough to be on the D day tour at the time of the 75th Anniversary. The knowledge and passion of the guides makes this trip what it is. I have travelled over many years to all the battlefields but until you come on this tour you will not have the depth of information provided to us by the team.
This I can safely say was the best experience ever , from start to finish you go at a pace that enables you to take in all the sites and information. Without our guides we would not have been able to access half the places we visited.
This trip will stay in my memory forever and that is down to the sheer professionalism and organisation of Battlefields 4x4 If you haven't done it you need to book now!!

D-Day 75th Anniversary Tour
This tour was well planned, organized and delivered by just a great team of guys. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it from the camping, green laning to the astounding flow of knowledge on D-Day, the local area and events around that time. The knowledge of individual stories and the cemeteries themselves were both humbling and fascinating. We will definitely be signing up for more tours in the future. 5 star experience from start to finish. Thanks guys.

Did the Calais taster day on Saturday, fantastic day, terrific guides, in depth knowledge with a passion about what they do highly recommend, & will have hesitation in doing another tour.

This is our third tour with the boys, as usual, well organised and brilliantly presented. Their historical knowledge, as well as their geographical knowledge of the countryside is unparalleled. I particularly enjoyed the time at Pounds Farm. Shame about the weather, but that just made the driving more interesting. Once I've scraped off the Flanders mud we'll be looking forward to next year.

Can’t recommend Nick and the whole team at Battlefieldsby4x4 enough. Just come back from the Christmas Market your and it was amazing. The knowledge and passion the team impart is second to none. Anyone with even a shall interest in the history of WW1 or 2 would really enjoy one of their tours. Our second trip with them, and already hoping to book a third soon!

Recently returned from the Armistice Special Tour with Battlefields By 4x4,
Three full on days of history, sombre thought provoking sites, vast open countryside with small parts of England looked after so beautifully by the CWGC and even muddy green lanes.
Expert guides gave a running commentary over CB radio and took us to where those young men fought and died a hundred years ago. The small service held at Houdain Lane Cemetery on the ridge above Arras on the evening before the Armistice was incredibly moving.
This is my second tour and I hope to do more in the future.

We've been with Battlefieldsby4x4 twice now and each time they have provided us with unforgettable 'once in a lifetime' experiences. Their knowledge and the way they deliver it is top notch. Don't let the 4x4 bit put you off, anybody with a 4x4 can participate, it's not an extreme environment and you end up seeing the french countryside as never before.
Our last trip, for the Armistice, was at once, emotional,exciting and unforgettable. Being on the ridge at Houdain Lane in the middle of the night gave a feeling that I will never forget..
