When we set out to find a full-stack engineer, we focused our search in a couple different areas - traditional job posting sites and freelance engineering marketplaces. But we quickly realized that job posting sites lacked the ability to filter out unqualified candidates. And while the freelance marketplaces did a bit better, they recommended candidates that were overqualified, out of our budget, or out of our timezone - or all of the above.

Then we found Codementor. The process of filling our position took less than a week and they found us a superstar. They've had the flexibility to meet our specific needs every step of the way and their customer service has been top notch since day one.

We've worked with contracting firms of all shapes and sizes, and we've been thrilled with the experience of CMX. Pienso, an MIT spinoff, is building a machine learning training platform that enables domain experts to create, shape, and deploy their own machine learning models at scale - no programming experience needed. That being said, finding talent that can execute on such a technically demanding platform is an extremely difficult challenge.

CMX jumped right in. The hiring consultants we worked with had a great understanding of our technical requirements. They promptly matched us with an absolute rockstar DevOps engineer that was able to quickly and professionally execute our infrastructure goals to help bring our product to market. Great platform for mentors and clients. I've been using the platform for a few years. I've had many live sessions and I've found long-term clients too.

I've been using this platform for about 2 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

It does a great job of connecting you with opportunities without your having to search through tons of projects like on other freelance sites. The projects are typically high quality, and Codementor ensures high-quality matches, so both sides don't have to deal with the lower quality projects and pay that plague other freelancing platforms. Caveats: You may need some reputation on the Codementor platform to be connected to good projects, and given the standard of quality, you may not see as many opportunities as on other sites. However, if your emphasis is on quality over quantity, CodementorX is a great platform.

Codementor is great company which cares about clients and about employees, trying to provide best experience possible.

As a whole, I think CodementorX does a great job. It has taken a cut-throat industry of online freelancing and delivers a platform that I can feel comfortable using without trying to undersell my talents. Looking into the future, I think my main concerns would be how CodementorX can position itself so that it continues to deliver high quality content to both clients and freelancers. Platforms like Upwork and Toptal started off as decent solutions but ultimately end up where they are today. As a behavior interviewer and a CMX developer who likes to browse listings, it looks like there is already some saturation of ReactJS developers. If I was a ReactJS developer, it would feel a bit difficult to be picked if 15+ people have applied to a job posting. I don't readily have solutions to these concerns I raise but I am confident in CodementorX's future as a place where freelancers can go if they are serious about offering high quality services for a market-range price.

As a freelancer, I had a difficult client on a project who was both overly demanding and did not seem to know anything about his role as a CMX client. He did not seem to know how the billing system worked and the expectations set by CMX. This occurred with another client with whom I interviewed with. The client didn't know that he was supposed to fill out the survey and explicitly express intent to work with me. As someone who is new to CMX, it can be a bit confusing to balance figuring out the platform for yourself and the client.

There are a few platform issues that appear once you start using the CodementorX platform more. It doesn't always seem like the support channels (Contact Us) are the best way to address them since I have sent out e-mails per the instructions there and have not received a response. Here are a few:
1. US Social Security Number - this is displayed as plaintext to the user. I'm not sure if this is PCI data and needs to be encrypted but at least don't show it as plain text where anyone can look over my shoulder to see the last 4 digits.
2. SSO Accounts - I feel disadvantaged as a user who uses Google login versus making a CodementorX account. I can't use the app, my e-mail, etc.

As one of the first contractors on CMX I've enjoyed watching the service develop over time into one of the best remote work communities.
