Bad employers. As an examiner for AQA I had an awful experience, not least with Stephanie Brooks in payroll and Emma Popham and Katherine Bowden in Resource Management. Their keenness to withhold payment from their examiners given what we're expected to do is simply awful. We were ten minutes into the conversation about it before Stephanie even deigned to look me up on the system, and she called into question my past experiences as an examiner saying 'I had not logged in since..' She did not offer to adjust my tax code until she had repeated the terms of my contract many times. They did everything they could to ensure I was paid as late as humanly possible and everything they could to dismiss feedback.
When I raised a formal complaint to the manager in payroll, Carl Brown, regarding my complaint he did not even acknowledge it.
I have been an examiner for multiple years with AQA and was awarded a Services For Examining Award in the course of this. But I found that payroll’s hard, unsympathetic deference to the most extremely rigid interpretation of the contract to be unlike anything I have dealt with professionally before. Stephanie, for instance, kept asserting the very latest date I would possibly be paid and would offer no other assurances rather than repeating the contract to me. Stephanie was rude enough to say that if I had really worked with AQA before I would know that is the case. My response- that in previous years AQA paid me after a month and it did not take a full further month for me to be paid- was unacknowledged by her. In fact, she seemed to relish schooling me on how I had misinterpreted the word 'automatic' and in tone policing me. For my part, throughout I have made every marking deadline which AQA strictly impose. But when it comes to in return AQA offering a fair and timely recompense for pay the most extreme application of the contract has been applied so that moderators are paid at AQA’s leisure, and in my dealings with payroll there has been an utter lack of sympathy about this. In no other educational establishment is pay offered up to two months after the start of services rendered- that is the most extreme and unsympathetic interpretation of the contract possible. When I complained about this Popham could not wait to blame my frustration on me and rejected any possibility for AQA improving.
AQA Exam Board has let down our children badly
AQA is the exam board used for numerous A levels. This year they decided to send out advanced information and dropped topics from the curriculum. There was supposed to be more leniency after the cohorts had suffered so much disruption.
AQA please tell me why the grade boundaries were much higher than last year ?
AQA please tell me why the advance information was a hindrance that left students crying in their exams after concentrating where they thought they needed to revise based on your useless advance information
AQA please tell me why there were questions on the papers that had been dropped from the curriculum
AQA please tell me why the scores the students had to reach were much higher than last years boundaries (When the students didnt actually take their exams)
AQA please tell me why you chose the questions you did - surely you are meant to test the students on what they have learnt - not what they havent learnt ?
You should be ashamed of yourselves for the added stress and anxiety you have inflicted on those poor children who have taken exams for the first time in their lives - good students who have worked hard and been penalised as a result of circumstances.
Terrible Service, avoid!
Paid a fee of £43 and told I would receive results in 20 days. 3 months later I get an email saying they can see entries but have no results?
Application closed! Shocking service and extremely unprofessional.
I used OCR for my other examinations and can highly recommend them.
Slow service
My husband applied for old exam results as they were needed to change his licence when moving overseas. They say to allow 20 days but 11 weeks later we had nothing. Eventually after chasing they said they had found some and for an extra fee we could have the certificate yet we had already paid the fee to get it.
