I would strongly advise people to be very careful when signing up at the Clapham junction club.

I was told multiple times that my membership would be £58 per month, which I confirmed again immediately before providing my card details. Despite this, the club proceeded to charge £704 upfront for a full year.

When I realised what had happened, I contacted the club immediately to have the payment refunded. Rather than resolving the issue quickly, I have been met with constant delays, vague responses, and repeated statements such as “leave it with me” or “I’m chasing finance.”

Despite several emails and follow ups, I have still not received any formal confirmation that the refund has actually been processed, no receipt, no transaction reference, and no documentation whatsoever.

The club has repeatedly stated that their policy is to process refunds only at the end of the month, which could mean waiting up to six weeks to receive money that should never have been taken in the first place. This has caused genuine financial disruption for me, including payments bouncing from my account.

What is most frustrating is that this situation could have been resolved very quickly with a simple refund confirmation. Instead, it has required repeated chasing, escalation to head office, and opening a case with my bank.

My issue here is not complicated. I simply want the £704 that was taken incorrectly returned to my account.

I will happily update or remove this review once the situation has been properly resolved, but at the moment my experience has been extremely disappointing.

Anytime Fitness Acton is a great new gym - the facilities are excellent, you can always use the equipment you want and the staff are friendly. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Loving using the gym just need to make sure the blue wipe down paper roll is available when the gym is not staffed. Also a couple of machines currently out of action but hopefully not for long. Staff are brilliant.

I have never been to a gym where I get free consultation. Customer service called me and booked me in to see Kindy.
She listened to me, and asked to tweak my diet and exercise plan for February. She then asked me to give her feedback after 1 month. Guess what! I lost almost 2kg. She is very supportive and always has something positive to say.

The staff are generally nice people, always ready to help. Customer service is top notch.
I go really early in the morning and I always have a beautiful time at the gym.
I am happy to be a member of AF Woolwich.

I immediately felt comfortable as soon as I walked in the gym. I was anxious at starting somewhere new but I need not have worried. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I'm now following a programme after a PT session with Charlie who is so lovely

Equipment is clean and the gym is well planned out. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly which is a big help when you are new to a gym.

I am extremely disappointed with Anytime Fitness Birkenhead. My original membership commitment ended in November, yet the club initiated an auto-renewal and charged my bank via Direct Debit in December and January without any prior reminder or clear notice.
When I confronted the manager about these unexpected charges, I was told only then about the 'automatic' nature of their contracts. Following their advice, I cancelled via the website, only to find a hidden note stating I must pay for yet another month (the 'notice period').
It is predatory to renew a customer's contract without consent and then demand further payment just to let them leave. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, contract terms must be prominent and fair. Hiding these obligations in the fine print and failing to send renewal reminders breaches CMA transparency guidelines.
I have already cancelled my Direct Debit and I will not be paying for this 'extra' month. I expect Anytime Fitness Birkenhead to waive this final charge and confirm my account is closed. Future members: check your statements closely, as they will keep charging you long after your initial term ends.
Despite my original contract ending in November 2025, Anytime Fitness Birkenhead auto-renewed my membership without any prior reminder. When I finally managed to request a cancellation, I received an email (Ref: 14/03/2026 end date) informing me that I am still being forced to pay for another full month (February) as a 'notice period'. This is a clear 'subscription trap'. I have already revoked my Direct Debit mandate and will not be paying for a renewal I never explicitly agreed to.

Holy shit this franchise made me wanna rip my hair out with the amount of emails and messages I received about late fees. One months notice for cancellation, the price is f ing expensive and for WHAT?? I’m never ever joining this gym again, it shouldn’t be that hard to cancel your damned membership. If I wanna block my bank from you and stop my membership, why can’t I?? This gym is a trap that’s VERY difficult to get out of and I just paid £68 for nothing even though my fob doesn’t even f ing work anymore

I had a great experience at Anytime Fitness Chiswick. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the facilities are modern, well-maintained, and fully equipped. Highly recommend!

The studio is perfect and very clean. Great to get my workout in.
Charlie is super and manages effectively - - would highly recommend! Also love how it is uplifting our high street!
